Thanks Robert. Yup still deployed and what a long year this place makes. One of my buddy runs the machine shop and I talked him into giving me a few lessons and yes they were AWSOME. To tell you a little more about it, its fully mechanical with a locking ringon the bottom button, to prevent those accidental disharges, runs on an 18350 and most everything on it is recycled aircraft parts. I figured why throw the stuff away when it could be used for the greater good! I get the response that it looks like a bullet when the drip tip is not on it what do you think? And a few more pictures for ya

Sweet, the nuts on the positive post are kind of large but if you went smaller the wick would likely be to far from the post. Glad to see you using the scrap instead of throwing it away and for a positive purpose. Yes, I think I looks a lot like some new kind of bullet without the drip tip, maybe a chemical weapon lol

Good luck, get home safe and sound!

I agree the nuts on the positive are a little big but that was all I had around here. Never wish I had a hobby shop nerby so bad in my life. I tried a few things but this actually is working the best. I am getting no glow in the wire between the wick and the post like I was with the other efforts. I blew a few coils because of the distance between the wick and the post. It has a few minor tweaks that need some attention but it is working better the more I vape on it. Thanks for the input. I do have a question for you guys. What is the normal break in period for a wick and coil like this it seems the more I use it the better it gets. Just wondering:?:

I bought some PermaStone today to try out. Is the best way to test this just to drip some juice on it and see what happens?

I know that there has been much pregress here, but if anyone was still looking
it seems that permastone is similar to Stewalin
a simple search on google will turn up result on where it can be purchased.
i have yet to test it (because i just found it) but, according to numerous websites, it is "microwavable, non-toxic, and water resistant."

edit
it seems that someone has already found this
see post #2843

Some people claim a day or two to get broken in right but it doesn't seem to take that long in my experience. I think it depends on factors such as the juice and how often you use it. I know that a coil and wick will last a lot longer with a straight menthol juice than with a darker juice. I get months out of a coil with my lite menthol and a week with my rum mocha.

That looks really good grey. Unfortunately the lathe at work doesn't have a threading gear, only reason I haven't made a hybrid lol. Good work.

Thanks we actually didnt use the threading capability of the Lathe for this one. A good ole Tap and Die was used with the help of the lathe to keep everything running straight and true.

Thanks for the info. I am actually on my second tank with it now and changed flavor of juice. Was really surprised on how quickly the next flavor came through on the wick with absolutely no residual flavors from the last juice. I think I have found my favorite PV and the good thing is only cost me a little time, patience, and imagination

Care to share sizes? Or a drawing. That save me some math. Lol machinists that hates math right here.

I can tell you I found the scuba gen design off of this forum, not exactly sure where though, and modified that. Designed my own switch with three pieces and a spring and the thread sizes are 7/8-14. Outside diameter on the bottom is just under 1", as that was the size stock we had scrap chunks of and just cleaned it up. and the top is .875" to match the tank. Plycarbonate tubing is the tank od is .875" and I think the ID was .75. I have modified from my original drawings already to make everything work correctly, as this was my first project like this and have absolutley no background with designing and machining close fit parts.

Actually, it might be good to submerge a small piece in some liquid after it fully cures and see if it absorbs any as well as if the state of the solid piece is compromised

Update on the PermaStone. I don't think this stuff will work. Way to porous. It didn't weaken with juice on it, but it absorded the liquid completely. Crap.

It's advertised as being Water Resistant, but that doesn't necessarily mean water proof. I would have thought that the smooth finish would have meant 'not porous'.

There is a sealer additive - almost picked it up at Hobby Lobby. It is added to the mix and seals the whole casting. That may be an option. I believe it may have been called Seal-In.

I picked up some silicone molding putty... not as firm, but may provide enough support. Possibly a layer of PermaStone for bottom rigid support then a layer of silicone molded over it as protection?

So here she is finished product on my Inferno ego batt.. Yes its a little eccentric and yes its huge and clunky but it holds over 5mls of juice and was my first taste of why I will be a genesis lover forever. First genesis Atty from scratch and won't be my last... I will be making more in the near future.

As one person I unfortunately cannot quote their name by memory said: Salmon fishing - turning a hobby into an addiction. Nicotine - Turning addiction into a hobby!
