Nice tip with the silver crimp tubes WeaponX. They fit perfectly over the 1mm silver wire and grip the kanthal really well.
I am definitely getting a better connection now and more consistent vapour.
Cheers

glad they're working as well for you as they do for me :) Im diggin them...it made my genesis more durable. I can bring it in the car with me and not have to worry about hitting a speedbump and my wire slipping...lol. They do need a nudge once in a blue moon...but still has saved a massive headache.

You must have one hell of a magnifying glass.

And mouse tools...lol

And raw talent.

I think I've fallen into the Twilight Zone.

I usually replace my mesh (or invert it) between 3 and 5 days. New mesh (or the other end), 5 wraps of new kanthal, maybe fiddle for a hour or two of vaping nudging the kanthal up and down to eliminate shorts to the mesh. Then vape for most of a day (~1 ml) and production drops off. Remove 1 wrap of kanthal and it's good for another 2 days (~3 ml) when it seems to clog/gunk up. Sometimes I torch it in place and it's good to go for another ml or so or I just replace it. Sometimes the gunk/crust sort of grows on the outside of the mesh encasing the kanthal and sometimes it just looks like the mesh fossilizes (those usually last a bit longer).

Well... it's been 2.5 WEEKS and performance has not changed! No other changes either -- same juice, usage, etc. ...very bizarre :)

(haha, just thought I'd share that)

I have no problems with mine... I never have to change the mesh except for when I feel like it. I don't get that gunky clumpy stuff unless I'm burning some really dark juicea like coffee flavors or chocolates.

I use #325 mesh (14mm rolled to 2mm) and 32ga kanthal at 3 wraps around the mesh. I make my connections with a wire wrapping tool on raw leads, no ferrules or crimp tubes.

No glows after the kanthal is oxidized (usually around 10-15 pulls). I'll burn through 2 or 3 full tanks before I even have to think about cleaning the mesh or coil.

When it comes time, I loosen the wrapping on the leads, but leave them mostly intact and remove the mesh and coil as one unit. Then I burn all the gunk off with a propane torch for 10 seconds or so until everything is very clean and put it all back together again. I have yet to pop a coil or have the mesh in an unusable state, but I change it once every other week anyway because I have TONS of kanthal and mesh so I figure...why not :) Cleaning and replacing the wire and mesh take me about 10 minutes....15 if I'm doing other things as well, lol. Starting from scratch with a brand new meshroll takes me about 20 minutes because I have to oxidize and dry the mesh.

Those are my experiences so far anyway... hope this helps some of you guys with genesis setups.

The CAD is starting to look like what I want for my new MOD. I'll post it after I have Raidy's approval.

I popped down to my local Rshak this afternoon after reading about wire wrapping tools. But I didn't bother buying it as the diameter looked way too small to fit over my silver wires.
Shame, I liked the sound of them.
So far the tubes are giving me longer vape times between having to fiddle or re-wrap new kanthal.

I have good success with 17ga stainless hypodermic tubing .058 od X .042 id cross drilled with .040 hole. I feed the kanthal through the drilled hole and attach with a .033 stainless straight pin down the tube. Connection is good and it is easy to keep tight when replacing kanthal or cleaning. The only problem is getting the tube connected to the rca connector. To solve this I first clean the tube and use Harris Stay-Silv brazing flux and Harris Saftey-Silv 56% silver brazing rod you will need to use a torch capable of it least 1500 degrees. the trick is to heat just enough to flow the silver on the stainless to much heat and the silver will not stick and you will have to start over. If it sticks and is lumpy don't worry just file it down, now your regular solder will stick to the tube the Harris products are food grade I use this on commercial ice machines all the time. This connection has never failed me and is easy to adjust

I used a 1mm drill bit to make the hole in the wrapping tool fit over the wire....it almost fit the way it was and only required a hand chuck get the drill bit through the hole to get it to the right size.

That's interesting, I didn't know it needed modded. Our R.Shack doesn't have one in store so I've never seen one up close, just online.

A question to all genisis atty owners and builders

The most importend difference between a normal atty and a genisis is ..........................?
The disadvantage of a genisis is.............................................................................?

Thanks for building so much new genisis mods and enjoy it.

I don't know which Polycarbonate you have but, thick wall is best, and make sure you don't have to press the "O" rings in too tight. Polycarbonate will crack if it is stressed. (or dropped). Also, If you saw it to length, be sure to cut it a bit long and sand it down to size, so there are no hairline shatters from the sawing.

I could never figure out how to tone down the heavyness of the vapor. Too wet for me.

It's thick. I stole your make of a "gummy Tank" lol. Using 6061 aluminum for top and bottom caps.
I am unsure of the not so good flavor. just wanted to make sure it's not the tubing, I'm not a big CE2 fan, never tasted good to me anyways.
Thanks.

You do know that you'll have to send me one for a user fee? :toast:
CE2s are very good or very bad,,, they only go 2 ways. If I get one that has even a hint of bad taste on it's 1st dry burn, I just toss it. I have kept some (out of desperation) and they got better after 2 or 3 days, But all CE2s taste better after 2 or 3 days.
