@ ALL THOSE WHO HAVE PM ME

@ AND ALL THAT HAVE THE SAME QUESTION

SPAIN CO OP:
I'm not handling administrative tasks, or payments or shipments. I'm just who shared a design of an atty body and an internal conection system, and many people thought it was interesting and they have asked me to pass the plans for, so I had to design these plans carefully so that they can be easily interpreted by a turner who I do not know, and from there, I am participating as something like a technical supervisor of the project.

The work has been very very very very very difficult and hard, every little internal piece is a world, every machined part with really small milimetric measures is a world, and the margin of error is zero. And the most important part is that this is a DIY kit, but the vast majority of participants, dozens of people, have no modding skills, and the bigger challenge that we have aimed, those who we are coordinating the project is that anyone regardless of manual skill level, can assembly and setup the system, the project has my name, but I am not alone, not at all, another friend is working really hard managing the tasks with the turner, and also another people are behind this too, working in solidarity and as a team, each one in a different area, taking contact between us by forum and privately all the time for weeks. It really is amazing. Many people will enjoy a Genisis, people that otherwise never could.

But unfortunately at this time they are not receiving more orders, because the set is closed, and as you have seen, the pieces have already been born. Anyway I will see what can I do in a few days, but I can not promise anything at this moment.

Greetings

I started my mod today and made a video of the finish cut on the lathe specifically to make gummy jealous but the stupid YouTube app on my phone wants a wifi connection and I'm to lazy to switch IP addys. I'll upload it for him tomorrow. :D
Just got it uploaded. It's from my phone, so not the greatest but enough to make Gummy want a lathe more than he already does.:D

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.:p

Hah, poor 'gummy', he'll get one so watch out.

@ 'persis': Thanks, that's why I didn't PM you, I figured you were probably flooded. That explains things, thanks.

Not a problema at all... You can write to me when you want, and where you want, I am a simple modder guy like you, only that is difficult to me to write in english and I must take my time to do that.

Very very nice mod really innovative as usual with you . I like your work you've, done this is another fine example of your skill and talent . And thanks for sharing your mod and the pic's of it with us .One question ,. So since you've been vaping the Gen do you like it more than your other mods that you've made in the past ? If so can you explain why and how.
Thanks Dan

Hey Scuba.

A few questions.

iPhone031.jpg

Looks like you are using Nichrome is it? And is it 60 or 80? From all the wraps it looks like a rather fine gauge, 36? Hows that working/holding up for you?

iPhone032.jpg

In this pic I notice some very long leads from coil to clips. In my own meager experiments this caused intense glowing. Having the actual leads as short as possible with the connectors almost touching the mesh coil worked much better. Any comments observations?

Its there any problem with using 6061 aluminum on a "willpro13" type of design?
Leaching? Oxidation?
I tryed stainless steel.. But my little mini lathe just don't cut it (pun intended)
Thanks.

What type of stainless? Speeds and feeds?
304 and 316 work harden like a biatch but if you use super sharp HSS with a positive rake and about 7 degree back clearace; slow down your spindle speed and increase your feedrate, you should be able to cut it. Since the mini lathes aren't rigid you'll probably have to oil the crap out of it too.

I believe that we had decided 6061 T6 was relatively safe earlier in this thread or Raidy's thread but you'll have to check. I think it was Raidy's thread.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Lexi, I would say the alu would work fine , just that it needs a thicker wall than SS for structural purposes (namely in the stem). As for health concerns, you will get both sides of the argument, so you should weigh your own decision. Gummy's doing some tests, maybe an update after a couple of months might be coming soon, when he gets back from Lathe's 'R' Us.

Oh yea I had about forgotten about that. I went and looked at them again and after 2 months submerged in the different juice, Still the only change at all was the one in my tap water. the others look just fine. and on a side note My alum end caps on the "Gummy Tank are now in daily use for about 8 months (un-anodized, bare alum) no visual signs of any problem
PS all my drip tips are the same too. I'll post this also over in the original thread even if it does mean starting it all up again.

Well verdict is half in on Grainger...No business account no brick and mortar store yet for SS mesh:facepalm:...knew I shoulda gotten that tax # years ago...lol
I wonder if Scubabatdans order has come in yet...
@Scubabatdan Hey Scuba! is it the right stuff?!!...LOL

I got mine from McMaster and it came the day after I ordered it. Is Grainger's cheaper or something?

Beer its 304. Using carbide bits. Around 200rpm. I don't like to use auto feed for some reason.lol.
Maybe it can cut it.
If I can find the patience..
Alum is so much simpler to cut lol.
Thanks all!

Autofeed is pretty much a must for this stainless. If you stop at any place for too long (like a second) BANG, work hardened. Martensitic stainless (400 series), you can get away with hand feeding.

Since you are using a mini and carbide, 100-200 SFM at .004-.006 IPR starting out should be close. I'd go even higher on the feed if I thought you had the rigidity.... So, the formula would be SFM * 3.82 / Dia. For your spindle speed. If you can't get that fast you may want to switch to HSS and divide it by 3. Cemented carbide inserts that aren't ground to a sharp edge need a more rigid setup than sharp HSS or carbide with a ground edge. In other words, on manual machines; sometimes HSS is better than carbide.
