LOL I can't stand the "so when are you going to give THAT up" comments. (refering to vaping) You just can't win sometimes !!!
that when I simply tell them right after they give up their favorite thing (or what u notice they like or do a lot if you don't know them well)

when my friend's fiancee said that to me i told her that i'd quit this after she gave up sex

a "big boned" random person: after they gave up over eating

i think you get the idea. - it works, shuts them right up.

I've noticed smokers or ex-smokers tend to be more negative about the whole vaping thing.

People who have never smoked, for me anyway, seem to be very supportive. Specially my mom. She is thrilled that I put the analogs down. She says she certainly notices that I don't smell like "nasty cigarettes" anymore.:p

That just makes me want to do it more! Switching to vaping was my idea and it wasn't about the quitting but I just didnt want to smoke anymore. I may stop vaping down the road but on my terms and ONLY mine (or the FDA's and then maybe back to smoking :(). I have always been the black sheep in the family (is it OK to say that?). They enjoy rolling their eyes at me. Just another brick in the wall!

y? there's not much in these things that we can't make ourselves - even the nic juice if need be SOMEONE will make - i have no intention of stopping if the FDA can't get it through their thick skulls that we have rights (the right to use a better alternative is amongst them) and i will make/repair and sell black market if i have to to keep it going.

as americans we did it when they tried to outlaw alcohol and it's still here today because of the whiskey rebellion - if need be we'll have an e-cig rebellion - the FDA CAN'T WIN!!!

it's funny how many nic-gum snapping pent up "ex smokers" I've converted to vaping. The cost of that gum is outrageous, and you have to go find someone trusted with the key for the case that the stores keep it locked up. Once my friends questions and doubts get appeased, their curiosity goes up enough to buy a kit.

Well I was afraid of getting the same reaction as the original poster. I told my wife last night that I bought an ecig. I actually bought it Monday lol but wasn't sure how she would react so it took me a day and a half to fess up. Well, it turns out she is thrilled. She knew literally nothing about them and I showed off a few youtube reviews and articles on the net and she seemed to just be happy that they aren't cigs. Even the youtube video of the fda saying it has some cancer causing ingredients she still said, "hey, its still got to be better then a real cig". I agree, so all went well with me :)

My husband was a 'cold turkey' person 5 years ago and has been so considerate of me and other smokers. He remembers the label of 'worse than a leper' when he smoked. He is thrilled for me. He said he did it the only way that would work for him but is so excited for me that the e-cig is working for me. With vaping, I don't feel so deprived like I would going cold turkey. I would have never stopped that way. The only thing cold turkey is good for, IMHO, is making sandwiches! I'm still going through the motions without all of the hazards. I will step down the nicotine level and may just keep it there, or put everything down. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I'm not cranky or unpleasant and he said this way works for me. Women are more emotionally attached to analogs, and right now, I'm attached to holding my e-cig. And the funny thing is I was always losing my lighters.....and where I'd put my analogs. Not so with the e-cig. Go figure. :)

Regardless, you keep up the great work and quit smoking YOUR way. I'm proud of you, even if your folks aren't!!!!!! WTG!!!!!

I have quit cold turkey many times, and this time was the second worst (the worst being when I was pregnant...even though I was quitting for my baby, and that's what made me follow through, it was still SUPER difficult, right up to the last week of my pregnancy). I used Nicorette for the first few days, and it was still hard.

Whatever works for you is what works for YOU. No one has any right to judge you for anything. People have a tendency to hate and fear what they don't understand...they also have a tendency to get jealous of people who find a way around deprivation and difficulty. For me, I get mad when women get epidurals right away during labor lol. My sister-in-law had ONE bad contraction while in labor with my niece, and they numbed her up as soon as she asked. I remember thinking, "WTF? I had to suffer for almost a whole day before they gave me my epidural, that's not fair!" People are a-holes haha. If I were you, I wouldn't hide it. It kinda reinforces their negative attitude IMO. I understand not wanting to hear the nagging, but personally, I'm stubborn and very much the "I'm-a-grown-azz-woman-and-will-do-what-I-want" type haha. So I say, rebel! Viva la resistance! ;)

I've had a few people who I've told I quit smoking ask me when I plan to quit vaping. I tell them I don't; that I'm just as addicted to vaping as I ever was to smoking. Vaping is just a lot less unhealthy. I say it in a very matter of fact way that brooks no room for argument or discussion. Usually they shut up after that.
