So I'm currently with v2 batteries(which I really like). I recently had an order seized by health Canada on it's way to my house. It was a bunch of cartomizers because i'm pretty intimidated by all the other stuff. I hear about Clearomizers, tanks etc...I would really like to move onto a canadian vendor because it would be much quicker and also cheaper for shipping. I would also like to switch to putting juice in myself to save some extra money as well.

Where do I start? Whats a tank and a clearomizer or whats the best method for filling myself for that matter? Right now im just swapping 808 cartomizers out when theyre dead and plugging in a new one.

Any advice is good, and some explanations? :)

Ok. Welcome to refilling. Refilling will open your vaping to a whole new world. It will allow you to try the hundreds of Flavors out there. It is very easy and will save you money. If you are buying premade juice from a company, it will cost you about 20-30 cents to refill a carto.

If you haven't thrown out your old cartos , save them. You can refill them with either the same flavor or a similar flavor. For example, if it was a fruit Flavor you could refill it with a different fruit. The first refill will have a crossover taste but the second one will be closer to your new flavor. You can also buy blank cartos from v2 or other vendors. Just make sure you buy 808 thread, and between 2.4-3.0ohm.

To refill is easy. Pop of the end cap where your mouth goes and drip about 20 drops in slowly. Don't drip into the middle air hole. You can also fill one of the condoms about halfway and then slowly push the carto into it. This is called the condom fill.

Clearos are similar to cartos except they don't have filler, they have wicks. You fill them and then the wicks bring the juice to the atty. IMHO they have a better flavor and last longer because you can't burn the filler. Gotvapes.com sells 808 phoenix clearos that fit 808 slim batteries. They are awesome.

Stay away from tanks. They hold more juice, but are a pain and they leak. Basically a tank is just that larger tube (3-4 ml) with a carto inside it. The juice continually fills the carto.

Your best bet is the Phoenix or clearos. Remember, you can refill cartos several times. And clearos about twice as much as a carto

great post Mroutlaw. I do have tons of saved cartomizers from v2. Ill look into grabbing some juice and some clearos then(so i can see how much i got left).

How long will the atomizer last on my dead carts?

EDIT: Just checked out that phoenix clear....its a beast and it looks awesome. Love how you can see how much liquid is left, and that it can hold a ton.

Most likely your carto will need to be replaced before the atty goes out. Depending on what type of juice you use, they will clog up. At that point, I just toss them. Some people try and boil them, but its hit or miss. Sometimes they clean, sometimes they die. Remember this, the higher the VG content, the thicker the juice. The thicker or darker the juice, the faster it will clog you cartomizer and the slower it will wick. Personally, I use 70pg/30vg. I just tossed out 2 cartos that I have had for 6 weeks now. On average, I get about a month using them, but I am switching away from them.

At home, I use the Vision Clearomizers (I have the Volt X2 ones but they are the same thing). The Clearomizers are nice, but they have limitations. The biggest one, which, if you have been reading around I;m sure you know, is that certain flavorings in juices will melt them. Cinnamon especially but generally anything highly acidic. Also, they aren't as portable as cartomizers. If you turn them upside down, they will leak.

Being that I own a landscape business, I need something that is portable that I can take on the road with me, which is why I have stuck with the cartomziers. But since trying the pheonix and fluxomizers, I am transitioning over. The phoenix is pretty much a combination of a clearomizer and a cartomizer. It is the size of a carto, but has the wicking of a clearo. The only downside is that you have to fill them with a syringe, but its not difficult. If you look on their website, he has a video showing how to do it.

On a side note, Smokeless Image is supposedly getting clearomizers that wont melt. They are also getting something that is similar to the phoenix but wont need a syringe. They are supposed to get them in by July. Anything they sell will fit your V2 and they are very reasonable in price. Customer service is awesome. Generally, they ship within an hour of you placing the order.

For what its worth, if you need more batteries, I suggest considering a volt battery. They are less than half the price of V2 and you can use everything you own for V2 and just mix the SI one in. A 380mah battery from V2 is $30 and is almost twice as long as the SI 380mah battery. The SI version is only 78mm and costs $13 before coupons. They always have a coupon, including the Fathers day one for 25% right now. If you want a bigger battery, the X2 they sell is the same exact thing as a KGO but with 808 threading. So again, you could use all your v2 stuff on it.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know. Please dont take this as insulting your V2, I'm not. It's not a bad product, just very expensive for a mini. I am all about saving money, and when I see that someone can get a superior product for less, I try and tell them. The only reason I mention it is because you can mix them, so if you need extras, you can use the volt stuff.

As for Canadian vendors just make your way over to the Canadian forum and request the list from the sticky thread at the top, there is only one vendor in canada that sells the Pheonix so far. Oh, and I love tanks, almost all I use, a tank with a slotted or punched XXL boge carto.....too easy and a great vape.

I just got my first clearos in the mail this morning and I'm hooked. Maybe I'm just clumsy, but I always made a mess when I was refilling my cartomizers. These filled with no mess at all and no waiting for the polyfill to soak up the liquid. I also noticed that the aftertaste that I didn't like in all my flavors is gone. It must have been from the filling material in the cartomizers. Basically I love these things. The only problem is that some juices can crack clearomizers. There's a list around here somewhere of which flavors are known to cause issues.

Yeah I got that list pm'ed. Almost all of the Canadian vendors sell eGo and a variety of joye stuff...I'm thinking I might have to convert to some 510 bats?

Mroutlaw - I also keep my bats in my pocket alot at work since its so accessible with a cart for sure-so I think for now I found a site that i'm going to order some juice from 'Gentlemens Reserve' and use the condom method on my saved cartomizers (i have atleast 50). I think it will work out ok, but now im back to square one in finding the right battery :p

How are eGo's? The threading seems more popular so I'll be able to get my hands on more of the clearos and whatnot since the 808 seems pretty hard to find on most Canadian sites

Thanks to everyone for the replies this forum is very impressive.

How are eGo's?
Few weeks ago ordered this kit for a friend from a vendor in Newmarket and it's great- 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge. It's a 510 connection
eGo Vision Stardust & Extreme Vision Custom Kit 1100mAh
since the 808 seems pretty hard to find on most Canadian sites
Have you thought of buying an 510- 808 connector for $2.25. This way you could buy a 510 PV and use your 808 cartos on it.
510-901(808D)
Good Luck.

Edit: Sorry still 1/2 asleep...or you could order a 901 - 510 adapter for $2.25 and use that on your 808 with 510 cartos.
