By vaping you are inhaling super high concentrations of glycols. A selected blend that has a low toxicity level.

I talked with a Health Canada agent this week who told me that there is no long term study demonstrating this habit has no consequence. (well I'd say to that, we know for sur the adverse effects of smoking tobacco). He also told me that there is no e-cig approved by Health Canada and that they are very well aware about the distribution network on the net. He told me they were under investigation and there could be consequences for unauthorized dealers: stop sales, shut down website, possible legal proceedings. Then he asked me if I wanted to fill a form to place a complaint. I said no.

I guess it's like having an open wood fire in the backward. It is prohibited but alot of people do. It works with complaints?

The only study I've seen on PG misting was one sponsored by New Zealand researchers who concluded that there was a significant positive correlation between PG misting and the reduction of upper respiratory infections; so, I really don't detect a negative impact at this time.

Actually the glycols are tested long term, as far back as 1942, I think, no negative effects, in fact the test confirmed that PG vapor prevented infections.
Long term was 6 months in that research. Long term over a lifetime, testing can't be done, it'll be user data in about 50 years time. Don't think sticking with cigarettes till then is the best bet.

There is propylene glycol in cigarettes too. e-cigarettes have 4-5 ingredients, 3 of which are in the 4000 chemicals of cigarettes.

nicotine
PG
flavoring

In addition there can be vegetable glycerin and water

Cigarettes add thousands of chemicals including benzene, formaldehyde, acetone, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, carpet glue, as well as tar and carbon monoxide.

Which should be illegal?

SOmething is wrong in the balance, the canadian governement collected 3 billion dollars in 2006 from Tobacco taxes. I still have to find the costs related to tobacco usage on the health care. I am convinced it is way much more than that.

Could there be a lobby from the Tobacco industry for seeing so many countries banning the e-cigs ?
Just like what they did with the electric cars ?

There are immediate risks and there are long term risks. The immediate risks of nicotine are pretty obvious. The immediate risks of PG/VG allergies are also obvious. The long term risks would probably have more to do with nicotine being bad for your heart and/or blood pressure as well as the long term risks of inhaling vaporized PG/VG/PEG/DiPG, all of which are used in e-juice production and might have different long term risks. PG vapor has been shown to be rather safe. I don't think there's been much research done on inhaling VG/PEG/DiPG vapor (many premixed e-liquids have at least some of the latter), but they are considered to be non-toxic. Then there are the long term risks of different flavors. Surely, different flavors pose different long term risks. Some flavors might very well be just as dangerous as cigarettes. Especially ones that have trace amounts of oils. There's no denying that.

Truly the only way to be safe is to vape DIY unflavored!
