The only reply for people like that that comes to mind right now is Ron White "You can't fix stupid.". It doesn't matter what other people think or want. Opinions are like a**holes .. everyone has one. You are doing what is right for you and it doesn't hurt anyone else. If they don't like it too bad for them.

You can also tell him it's used in pretty much every cough syrup ever made, tons of mixes for alcoholic drinks as well as in toothpaste and even some cheap off-brand soda-pop... Not that any of those things are good for you, however
