After the initial flavor search and stocking up for a month...what I do is try to keep my buying to a milestone no matter what I may want...
30 days in I got a second model to try out, and juice for a month..I'm almost at 60 days ...so I'm doing pretty good in that 60 days I've maybe spent $300 for me and my fiance so about half of what we'd have spent on analogs

After figuring, I've spent 660 dollars on e-cig stuff in the last 5 months (but it's going to last me a while).

Not included in that price is the purchase of 2 cartons of ultralight blue (.3nic) and 2 cartons of ultralight white (.1nic) I used to ween off tobacco, but only used several packs of each. I'm sitting on over 3 cartons of cigarettes at my house

If I had smoked the last 5 months, I would have spent almost $700.

I really hadn't added it up yet...so wow, over $600 on e-cig stuff, including a 125ml bottle of double strength I won't be using, a broken passthrough (good thing I had 2 at the time), various flavours I gave away, batteries and atomizers I've given away.

If I knew then what I know now... eh so I spent a couple hundred in the e-cig exploration phase, and still came out better than even.

Just for fun, let's assume I already knew what I wanted and that this particular Chuck lasts 3 years, which is a pretty safe assumption, that I will need 2 batteries a year, and that each atomizer lasts 1 month. The Chuck is 80, charger is 10, 6 batts is 45. 36 atomizers is 252, juice for me if I vaped 2ml of 24mg per day, for the next 3 years, around 400. Comes to 787, which is 262 a year, and 22 dollars a month. Alternatively, smoking what I smoked, assuming slight price increases over the next couple years, would be about 5000 dollars, 1666 per year, and 140 per month, smoking cheapos.

So I say, find a mod you like and buy it! If you don't like that one, buy another one! Maybe buy an extra! I switch batteries once a day, vapin' at peak voltage for a 3.7v, no cords to deal with, nothing but this sweet PV and a bottle of fluid in my pocket, all expenses paid for less than a dollar a day ...

But now my mindset is trying to catch up with everyone an not somuch buyers remorse anymore.. Lol!

But anyways.. I agree with most here.. That the beggining is mostly exploration expences.. Once I wind something I'm completly in love with.. I can just ride the breeze and have a set amount of money each month for vaping

Ok so ive been vaping for around a month now and i think ive spent a little over 375 on juice and accessories in the past three weeks!?! And i cant stop myself from thinking i need more stuff!.. 'hey i could use an extra atty or 9 (when i have 5 back ups already)' or
'hey, even tho i have about 9 different menthols now.. and havnt even broke the seal on half of them. i wonder how these 3 suppliers make there menthol, ill take em!!'...
and 'hey, i have 6 batteries already, but shhhoooot, i could use another 2 (for what? i dunno)'

so im just curios, have any of you seasoned vapers (or anyone) gone crazy shopping in the beginning? maybe still?

im just trying to justify why i spent almost 400 on things that couldve of waited a while, and say to myself 'hey, this guy did it, now i dont feel so bad and why i didnt buy a ps3 instead

I gotta tell ya, I think that this happens to eveyone when they see value in something. I'm pretty sure that if someone showed me schematic of an E-Cig and said, " Hey, check out this idea I have for a smokeless, less harmful, stink-free electronic cigarette.", I probably would have spent every last dime I had to get my hands on it. Especially at the very begining. Its a truely wonderful concept. As far as personal product goes, I've got (5) Mega 510 Titan batteries, (2) regular 510 batteries, (5) port charger, 510 PCC, 510 Pass-through (I just broke it), 15 or so 510 atomizers, a KR808 Pass-through, (5) DSE901 Atomizers, (5)510 to 901 adapters, (1) 901 to 510 adapter, a 6 Volt Detonator Mod, (2) Smoking Everywhere/Smoke Free Batteries and 2 Atomizers, and the equivelent of over 8500 ml of various liquids(mostly unflavored). And I've only been vaping for 4 months, so I know exactly what you mean about spending a ton of money. Yesterday I almost bought the new Titan Tornado/Janty Ego but I held off. I'm gonna get it next week.

Vaping WAS expensive. Very expensive. Now that I've finally figured out what I like, it is actually pretty cheap. It is all the experimenting that you have to go thru to be satisfied that you've found your thing. A lot of different atty models, power levels, and juices...a lot of $$$...and finally some peace of mind.

well i spent about $350 in the last 3 months.. i have a good 2-3 months of 24mg left
as of now i would of spent over $475.. if what i have only last 2 months would be around $780.. so half what i would of spent

Like most people do. I spent a lot the first few months.Several kits, a load of atties and batteries, passthru's, juice from all over. I just passed the 6 month mark last weekend. At about the third month, I got a KR808D1,and liked it better than anything else I had. I also had a nicostick box mod. I bought a adapter or it for the 808 carts. I later got 3 more nicosticks and,another charger for the 14500 batteries,A dozen more batteries, and 50 blank cartomisers. With the batteries lasting about 7 hours each and, the carts lasting so much longer. My buying has about dropped back to nothing but the juice I like. Like a lot of others, I gave away most of my original stuff to get friends to start vaping. Now I spend less per month than I did per week on analogs.

I am over 3 months into vaping and I use mainly a KR808 and a 510. I have easily spent over 2K in the past three months but I justify it because I always have enough stock to lone out to friends when they want to give it a try. I have gotten at least 4 people to go over to vaping all because I loan them some product let them try it out for a bit and then they are hooked. Once they decide it is for them I point them to where they can order their own supplies.

if you are looking to save some cash.. come up with a few flavors that you really like.. then order flavorings and unflavored 60mg and some pg or vg.. then if you make 24mg out of it you end up spending less than 1/2 the cost of flavored and you can make it to your taste.. ones that i ordered flavored tasted a lot better to me after i added some more flavor to them

I have 8 atomizers and zero have died yet, so I should be set for at least a year in that department.

At 100mg/day I should have about 90 days worth of liquid.

I should have several lifetimes worth of durables supplies (bottles, syringes, needles, etc).

Welcome to the Shopper's Club! It took a long time to get out of the habit, but in your quest for the "perfect PV for me" can be really expensive.
I've given away about $500 worth of stuff just to make my shelf look better to prying eyes! but all in all I'd say it was money well spent.
I do my own juice, so don't have to worry about a shelf full of little bottles, I do love them, but this way I'm always stocked and ready to make another batch. For about the next two years, at least. Martha and Lab are right, you can't get too far ahead with juice, it may not be good when you get to it. I've been cutting back nic so getting farther and farther ahead stock-wise, an un-intended benefit of DIY.
It's all about feeling prepared and safe, no more trips to the store at 3:00am to get a pack of cigarettes. This is waaaay better!!
Spending will eventually even out don't worry too much unless you had to get a second mortgage.

I can so relate!!! Started vaping Dec 22, got mini 901's, juice, etc... By 1st week in January realized this would actually work for us to quit smoking and started reading all the stuff about lawsuits and the FDA... Thought, I need to stock up quick! Hubby wasn't really impressed with the liquid I got so I ordered some higher nic from Johnson's Creek (he hadn't actually quit smoking at this point). Got the Spiced apple from Johnsons creek (along with other juice we didn't like) and he loved it. Noticed that the spiced apple was only available for a short while, so had to stock up on that as well. Turns out I don't like any of Johnson Creek Juices myself, so I started looking at other sources, ordered from several to figure out what I like. At about the same time I ordered juice, I decided I better stock up on batteries, atties and carts, got some 401's and 201's from absolutely e-cigs - decided I didn't get enough once I received them and ordered some more. Found the e-juice calc on this site and thought I should try making my own juice, so I ordered supplies for making my own. Then noticed how yellow these nic solutions were when compared with the 100mg nicotene that SuperTrkrE2812 sells, so i ordered some nicotene and pg/vg from him. About this time two of my 901 batteries died (probably because I dropped them). Read reviews on the tornado and thought that might be good to get instead (have been wanting to try the 510 everybody had on here anyhow, and this had a bigger battery).... Got the tornado today and my husband told me I was no longer allowed on this forum because all I've been doing is reading about e-cigs and spending money (of course, now he's peeved because the tornado works better than all the other ones and he already told me I couldn't spend any more money).... On the bright side, if the FDA does cut off our supply - we'll be good for a while But geez, with the money I've spent on this stuff, we could have smoked analogs for the next year...... so much for my excuse that e-cigs are cheaper... Hey, I just noticed it's been one month today since I've started. lol.

I've got an app on my droid that tracks how much I've saved by not smoking...I'm waiting for it to catch up on the amount I've spent on vaping! Don't feel bad...I haven't caught up yet!

2 days since I got my starter kit and enough juice for two people for roughly 20+ days. First order for two in household ran $360 then today I found another vendor for juice on these forums much cheaper in larger quantity so I went wild and ordered 40+ days for two people worth of juice and assorted flavors, bottles, etc. That ran another $140. Found some slim cases for my 510's with a clip so add another $20 for 4 of those in different colors lol.

See where this is going? No seriously I'm 36 hours into vaping and after finding the right strength which was around 22mg/ml I no longer crave analogs at all so this is it. I'm off the analogs and after all the gear this will work out cheaper. Once I find a good MEGA 510 PCC kit I may go ahead and swap to that over the regular 510.

Anyway I personally spent about $120 a month on analogs so won't take long for me to hit break even. Probably just trying various small bottles of flavor for awhile till I find some favorites to stick with. After 16 years of analogs with countless failed attempts to quit it is crazy how easy it is for me to just stop like that. I was usually crawling up the walls every hour on previous attempts to get off the analogs.

Yes I was the same exact way. Within one week I ordered a 510, l88b, and LTV9. Not mention about $200 in various eliquids. So yes, I think the excitement of a new toy makes anyone want to go all out. It is supposed to steady out though. One day you wake up and think "Wow. I really have a lot of liquid. Maybe I should start waiting til I finish one off to buy more!" Lol..that day has yet to come for me.

about 350 so far- been vaping since jan 15 2010- plan on spending a few more just to get all set up. I dont mind - I am in ny i was spending 22.50 a day on traditionals.
