Warning: This may be long and possibly newbish as hell. You have been warned.

First might as well tell you where i come from experience wise. I started with a cheap local made ecig from my local smoke shop of course. It was a cartomizer kit with terrible flavor, so that didn't last to long. Next up i went with a Blu, it was nice, when the cartridges worked in the flavor department. So that brings me to Yahoo. Which, after some twists and turns, brings me here.

On my way i did learn of mods and such. So from the basics ive learned from here it seems a Silver Bullet is the way to go for myself. Not to expensive but effective and has some style. But i do have one problem. I hear that, while its a solid device and a solid buy, it is a bit dated.

So i ask, is there any other mod out there that is more up to date and also performs as well (or better) than the Silver Bullet? Price isn't a huge issue but nothing crazy expensive and something that is versatile with some style.

Thanks in advance!

When you're talking fixed voltage devices, I don't really accept that any mod would actually be 'dated'. The Silver Bullet is a great device according to everything I have been told about them.

If you take the leap and go variable voltage, then you can run into more technically advanced circuitry and such, but in that arena there are far fewer contenders to decide between at the high end of the food chain.

FWIW - I used to think VV was gimicky and not really worth it.

* cue chior * Since then, I have been enlightened. :)

The SB isn't "dated" as you say. It's a fantastically build all mechanical mod. I own 2 and just purchased a 3rd. And the SB is versatile also. You can run 3.7, 4.8, and 6V batteries in it. You might also be able to run it a 7.4V but I haven't tried that because it's too high for me.

It sounds like you need a BuzzPro from notcigs.com. It's variable voltage and allows the user to fine tune in his/her juices.

First, thanks for the fast replies! Guess when i read that bit about it being a little dated they didn't really explain why, should have looked better into that lol.

VV is not needed, just something to help me finally put these analogs down for good. But im really picky so my first real mod needs to be something solid thats gonna last me a while. Just wanted to be sure the SB is the one. So from what i take, for the price style and functionality the SB is the best in that area, or is there something else out there i may have missed ?

On a side note i did look at the BuzzPro, not a fan of that button style. i got bigish hands and that tinny button would drive me crazy lol.

Sounds like an SB would do the job. I hadn't thought about the fact that you can stuff different batteries into it and get different voltages. It is something that could become a factor if you should discover that the 3.7v isn't doing it for you. Buying the batteries to move to 4.8v is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new mod.

ETA: I did a lot of research recently, and I actually came very close to buying an SB. Well, a BB actually - I love the look of black chrome.

Precise P18 plus from SuperTManufacturing - will be sold next week, all mechanical including button, lifetime guarantee - the P18 will accept the 18650 battery and also the Lifepo4's so you can vape at 3.7 or 6.v. You will also be able to put in the upcoming VV module from the makers of the Darwin. Just will have to use a shorter battery.

ah yes... the quest for the perfect juice....

I've got a local store where I can go in and sample flavors, so it makes it good in that I know everything I buy is one I like. The down side, of course, is that there are so many good flavors... I think you get the picture. :D

A lot of places offer sampler packs - they're a great way to get going and taste a good variety without breaking the bank.

ha wow amazing, thanks for the links, ill be sure to bookmark and try a lot of them. Big fan of Cherry flavor, i think as long as i can find at least one solid cherry e-liquid ill be happy lol. But i'm always open minded! And just to be sure, you can use a 2 piece or 3 piece setup with the SB ? I'm sure you can but not sure which way i wanna go.

Sure you can. You can put an atomizer on it and either drip into that, or you can pop a cartridge on the atty and vape that way.

The other option is a cartomizer - which is nothing more than a cartridge with the atomizer built in.

My personal preference is cartomizers. Only thing is with carto's, driping isn't an option. Might want to try both. They're both re-useable but limited lifespan items - so it's not a commitment thing like the unit itself is.

Congrats on moving into mods. I would go with the AW brand 18650 batteries. I have never had any trouble with them. Have you looked at the Reo line of PVs? I have a Reo Grand and love it. The Grand uses all the same battery combos the SB can and it has a 6ml botle of juice inside for bottom feeding action. I don't mean to throw you off track, it's just my opinion that a feeder style mod is the most convenient. Congrats again and check out FSUSA (freedomsmokeusa.com). They have a ton of flavors and the people and juice are top notch.

Giving the "sleep on it" thing just to be 100% sure on what i want lol. So far it seems the SB is the way to go. Ill post when i finally order, gonna crash for now!

Thanks again everyone for all the patience and information, its been very helpful!

I'm using the 18650 batteries, and the life on them is great. I am not easy on batteries, I vape a lot. The one I am using now has been in there since last night about this time and looks to be about 75% of the way down. So that's 24 hours minus the 5 hours I slept - vaping on LR and standard carto's, anywhere from 3.3 to 5 volts. It has had quite a workout.

Just remember that you only want to use "protected" batteries - they have a protection circuit in them to prevent nasty failures. Don't ever overcharge.

The different batteries are different physical sizes - so you obviously want one that fits. Other batteries can fit, but often need either extended end caps or spacers for inside when using smaller batteries.

Pretty sure the stock SB is sized for the 18650. Based on my experiences with that particular battery - it's the one I would choose. I'd get two so I have no down time due to recharging.
