Smoked my very last cigarette back in late August, so I've been smoke free for several months now. (Huzzah! ...But why isn't my signature banner working? Not the point of the post though.) Preface: I'm a happy vaper. Don't crave cigarettes anymore. I've gone from 24nic down to 12nic and staying steady. Looking to be 6 and/or 0nic by February.

I'm going to attempt to make this TL/DR-proof.

1. Started w/ eGo Twists (1k & 650mah)/Stardust/Vivi Nova
2. Downgraded to several eGo-C & Vivi Nova (1.8ohm heads)
3. Further downgraded to several eGo-mini-style (350-400mah)/Nova w/ the occasional single coil Carto in rotation.
4. Am thinking about small-ish auto batteries w/ PCC & Cartos for daily use.

a. What the what? Aren't people supposed to upgrade to the inevitable ProVari group over time? What's wrong with me?
b. What reliable small auto batteries/PCC would you recommend (Price sensitivity in mind. Not looking to spend over $50)
c. joyetech EVIC looks promising/intriguing but since I don't really use VV much, would a vaper like me actually benefit from saving up for it?

Thoughts?

Suggestions?

Are you laughing at me yet?

Anyways, cheers all. Hope you're all having a great holiday season so far!

I am the same as you, i started out with some crap devices, didnt feel it enough, got more powerful stuff. Once i got off analogs ive slowly found i require less and less power for my TH/Fix. Now im using an eroll and couldnt be happier. Just do what you enjoy most, thats how i feel about it. If you have been happy moving to smaller devices you may not want to jump to a large device, but that new biggie does look cool! hehe

I totally agree, and I never ventured beyond ego batteries, which I also felt were too large. I purchased the Mystic PCC with an additional battery to suit my needs. It isnt a perfect device to say the least. You cannot fit an assembled PV in there, but there is a slot to hold one ecig in the charger and 3 slots for carts or attys. It also isnt a smart charger, meaning you cannot set it and forget it. The ecigs and the PCC will drain themselves down if left in charge mode. Perhaps you should shop around for a PCC that does have these features, and you will find that it satisfies your needs. I am sure there is a better one out there, I have just learned to deal with the one I have.

I'd say you need 510's, because with that history you probably need more choices in cartos than a beginner would. I'm sure someone can recommend an inexpensive supplier. Volcano, eGo, and a few zillion others make cig-sized 510's. But you can only get manual (which is what you're used to, so it should not be a problem.

And you do NOT need a kit, just 2 batteries and 1-2 chargers and you probably already have adapters up the wazoo. Keep one that is at least 1.5 amps, the .5 amp ones are too wimpy.

constant state of confusion
You aren't moving backwards....you are settling in. You have found what works best for YOU. and that is what you are supposed to do. Vaping is a journey, not a destination. While I love this forum, it is very easy to get sucked into the "you need this" thing. When I started in this community over 2 years ago, it was all about finding what is best for you. What works to keep you off the stinkies. With the progression of technology and the community expanding, I am seeing a whole lot of "look what I got" and "you must have this" than I ever saw before. It's hard not to get sucked into the "shineys" It's fun to get new vapey gear and try new things but if you are happy with where you are at, ain't nothing wrong with that.

Simplicity is key for me. I don't want to tote around weighty PVs, liquids, driptips, etc.
Nowadays I have 3 Twists (2 650 and a 1000 plus a PCC). Sometimes this setup lasts me all day, and sometimes I kill my batteries in a few hours. As long as there's an outlet somewhere, I'm happy.
As for vaping devices I love the CE3 3ml tanks. Here I get them at clearance, I can have many preloaded, and as they go through liquid fast I try to keep as many as I can. Just in case I carry a T3, but I'm not a huge fan. I also carry 3 CE3 regular with 24 mg liquid just for cravings. I still smoke 10 cigarettes a day, but vape most of the day non stop.
To each their taste and convenience. As long as it keeps you away from analogs it's great!

Yeah, I started with a starter 510 mini tank kit, then went to the eGo T, then got sick of the leaks and hassle and kept the batteries for that and got the 2.4 T2 Clearomizers on the original 650 ma batts. I got some 1k batteries too, but they are just too much, so they are my 3rd & 4th (never use it unless something goes wrong) batteries. I recently got some 300 ma minis and I like those too. I have settled into the clearos cause they make plenty of vapor but are simple and have the 9 dollars for 5 replacement coils, which are so cheap I just toss them every week rather than clean them, etc. I have had one bad coil so far out of perhaps 50-60 between me and my girl I have purchased. I see the big and bad options, and I am just not too interested. I have tried other larger clearos, battery kits, mods, etc. All are collecting dust and I have (for the moment) stopped buying them. I do intend to try a Provari at some point to see what all the fuss is about, but it is not a priority. So you are doing about what I am in a way. I just want to vape with a minimum of hassle.

Now juices on the other hand, I am a purchasing hound. I will never use all of my juices. Nor do I believe in ever letting my stocks get low, ever. No worries, it is what works for you. Happy vaping!

The provari is only "inevitable" if it fits your vaping style budget and needs. As you've found, it doesn't do any of that for you. Safe call, and safe calls are never bad.

I believe the Volt is a highly regarded cigalike. Runs at 3.7v instead of eGo regulated 3.2v and is an auto switch.

As you mentioned, VV/VW isn't that important to you then I'd say pass on the eVic for now. You never know, your style may change and VV/VW may become important. But another safe call would be to let the eVic hit its 2nd or 3rd version (to work out any hardware issues) and by doing so will let the price drop I'm sure.

Hope this helps a bit, congrats on staying off the cigs

If it's working for you there's nothing at all wrong with it.

I've browsed the smokeless image site and you can get set up pretty well for $50. I window shop because Imagine has those $50 gift certificate giveaways once a monthish. I hear good things about the volt.

I normally recommend Smokeless Image very very strongly to beginners. But there are two big differences between 808 and 510 that really matter.

1. There are almost no non-vv 510's with regulated voltage that I've ever found, so your voltage starts at 4.2 after charging and goes down to whatever, I guess between 3.2 and 3.4, which means your vape changes as the batteries run down.

2. There are not wide choices in carto types and resistances in 808's, so if you don't like the stock Volt 2.8 or Bloog's 2.6 you'll have trouble getting something that works for your tastes.

We had very mixed results trying to use adapters with the 808's, though much better results with manuals than with automatics. Vivi Novas worked fine on 808's with adapters but you are leaning towards cartos.

Also, you don't need a whole kit just to try it, I didn't buy a Smokless Image kit until I had already been on Volts for a month and liked them, So you can start at 1 battery and 1 charger for really cheap if you still have your old stuff to use while the Volts are charging.

Bottom line: if you like Volts with the cartos you can get from either Volt or Bloog, you're all done and have a great product.

If not, try a $3 adapter and a carto you like on the Volt and see if that works. If so, again you're good.

Else, you might need some brand of 510 ecig.

Nothing to do with the primary purpose of the post but the sig banners don't seem to work with the current version of Firefox (if that's what you're using). Well SI and ECF banners work but nothing else with a running totals script. Apparently Chrome and IE still work.

i ditched my egos and vivi minis a few weeks ago. I'm currently using automatic kr808d. mini Bart's and I'm loving it. its so easy and no fuss.
I'm even using cartomizers. i can refill or toss. my choice. i can put them in my pocket!

i did have a PVC but it broke
so i purchased 2 extra batteries and 2 chargers. 4 batteries keep me going all day. no fuss at all. just charge 2 when i get home and 2 before bed. easy peasy.

Totally agree with you. The point of vaping is to cut down on cigarette smoking or quit altogether. The OP has accomplished that and is happy with his gear. That's what all of us vapers are really after in the end. Congratulations!

There's no reason to worry. There is room for every type of vaper here at ECF, and whatever keeps you away from smoking is the right thing for you - as long as you like it.

I've heard great things about the eRoll, though, if you want something small. The battery in it is tiny, so it's really short and light, but the PCC looks great and recharges it enough for at least a full day of vaping.

To everyone that responded: Thank you all for your input & support. I swear breaking the habit has only worked out for me because of this forum. I guess I feel a little silly now for somehow thinking that I needed to "upgrade" soon or for assuming that the ProVari, true VV/VW, or even high end RBAs were the end-goal. It's easy to get sidetracked on here with all the latest & greatest!

Again, thanks everyone! Thanks ECF! I'm still researching small-ish 510 batteries w/ a PCC and just submitted an order for 0nic juice to see if I can begin incorporating that into my rotation before 2013. Just in case I don't post on here again for a while, I wish you all Happy Holidays & a great New Year! Cheers!

I was re-reading my post and found a typo that COMPLETELY changes what I was trying to say.

There are almost no regulated 510's except for VV's. My original was supposed to say "almost no non-vv regulated 510's" but it came out "almost no non-regulated 510's" which is the opposite meaning.
