Hi everyone.

I'm thinking about mixing my own juices (i was a 6 year heavy smoker of a pack a day marlboro smooths 100's which is worse then reds).

I started at 18mg, then moved to 12 then 6mg in about 6 - 7 months.

I'm thinking about making the switch to 0. Maybe stay at six for a little longer i dont know.

Anyways I prefer 100%VG juice as I'm not a fan of the throat hit.

I also love FSUSA which uses FlavorArt (but I guess any flavoring company would do but I would prefer them).

I don't care about mixing flavors to start off, just something simple like one bottle of cola, one bottle of menthol, one bottle of pomegranate, ETC. I eventually wanna start making my own blends, but that will come once I'm more experienced with just mixing simple juices.

How does one make them? Where does one purchase the VG and flavor? Cheap site (but not cheap quality? What is the ratio? If i do add 6mg nicotine, how much do I add? If I make some for friends that require more, what would that be? If you cant provide that please at least provide 0 and 6mg of nicotine

I heard that if you make 0mg nicotine its worth making your own and seeing im on limited income, that would help out alot.

If you have any questions please let me know, I will get back as soon as possible.

THANKS!

So we don't re-invent the wheel, I suggest you read all the stickies FIRST on the main DIY subforum, then ask any questions that weren't covered in all these very, very thorough threads. That's how I learned.

If you want to skip all that, you could order about a 9-10mg pre-mixed base of VG nicotine base and about 20 different flavors from Capella's Flavor Drops, as their flavors are already blended. Example: Chcolate Coconut Almond = Almond Joy bar; Dutch Chocolate Mint = Junior Mints; Milk Chocolate Toffee = Heath bar; Orange Creamsicle = speaks for itself; same with Apple Pie. And Toasted Almond is hard to beat -- a lot of raves on that one. See, easy peasy -- already blended for you.

I also hear good reviews from FlavorWest but I can't say for sure, b/c all I've ever used for the last year is Capella's. Nikhil's company (I think it's PureVape or PureVapes) has sample sizes of FlavourArt. Welcome to ECF.

ok so i read the eJuice Calculator v13 it seems good and all but I'm lost on how to use the whole thing... How do I add my own recipe? and Do i really need to count by drops (if i make 30ml at a time that's like 700 drops to count just for VG)

also based upon your experience, how much water and flavoring and do all containers drop the same amount?

Up on the top far right-hand side is the area you can make your own. Type in the value and give it a name. Example: Blueberry Cheese = 60% Cheesecake, 40% Blueberry. Then save the name as Blueberry Cheesecake.

I prefer lighter flavoring, so I always start with only 10%. If you use water to thin out the thick VG, use only 5% to start with. Do not use PGA (everclear) if you don't want TH and a subtle change in flavor. Now the VG is going to be thick to go through the needle, so pour or pipette the VG into your syringe, then uscrew the needle and push it all through without the needle - shoots through in just a second - no struggling. After you have it blended, if your juice is too thick, carefully thin it a little just two drops of water at a time and shake it up real well. All containers do not drop the same amount. If you go ahead and measure your drops, you'll have to do it only once. Make sure you make notes if you deviate from a recipe in case you want to duplicate it again.

Don't worry about making a mistake in the flavoring. You can always readjust it by adding more flavoring, or adding more base if you need it. The only way you're going to pull this off is if you just jump in and do it. If you're a scaredy cat like I was at first, LOL, then don't put any nicotine in it -- just the flavoring and VG. If you get everything all jacked up, then all you lose is a few drops of flavoring and cheap VG with no wasting your nicotine. Easy peasy, Keita. Above all, have fun with this. If you get confused, come back and ask away again. Welcome to ECF.

One more thing -- I've been mixing for almost a year now, and I never use anything over 50mg nicotine. If you buy it from xtremevaping.com, you will see there is only $1 difference in buying two 50mg bottles in lieu of one 100mg bottle. But really it's cheaper, because you would have to dilute it down to 50mg with a bunch of VG. So let them dilute it down on their nickel, right?

Because you seem happy vaping at 6mg I am going to suggest that your shopping list should look like...

24mg pre mixed in flavour you already like.
Some VG liquid to dilute it.
4 or 5 flavours you might also like.
Some 5ml bottles.
A 5ml syringe with a 14g blunt needle.

Make 4 or 5 bases with the flavours and the VG, with 0 nic in them at all. Do not mix the flavours to start with, just get used to the intensity of flavour you like.

Once you have a 0mg juice whos flavour you like, you can then make up some nic juice. Use 1ml of the 24mg nic and 3ml of the flavour you like. You should end up with a 6mg liquid that isnt too bad.

By mixing up small quantities of VG liquid with the flavour first we managed to keep costs down. The nic juice is the expensive part. As Seabrook said, do not get too carried away with saving pennies by buying extra strong juice. Yes it sounds a great idea at first, but it is much easier for a new person to use a syringe and work in ml where they can and I personally am a lot happier and confident working with 24mg juice than 52mg ect.

In fact, if you wanted to, you could just buy some 12mg juice and cut it 50/50 with vg. You should not notice a great drop in flavour.

and flavor wise if anyone tried flavorart.

is 20% flavoring too much? should i go lower like 17?

If you use FlavourArt, be aware that they do use diacetyl in some of their juices. If that's not a problem for you, then I have heard that FlavourArt flavors are wonderful. When ppl are newbs, their tastebuds tend to still be burned out somewhat. Until they grow back and your full sense of smell returns, 20% is fine to beging with. If you're still in your 20s, it won't take long for you to regain these senses.

If you want to use flavoring that contains no diacetyl, you can go to the Liberty Flights website where FA gives full disclosure on which juices do and do not contain it. It is rumored that FA loves having the vaping community as customers, so they will be re-formulating their flavorings more suitable for the vaper. Lucky us!

Good luck, Keita.
