This thread will entail the progress of a standard 1590B DNA200 box build as well as a guideline for my future mods to come. It all started with the hope of getting DIY satisfaction, also as mentioned by @javafreak its cheaper as well . Feel free to ask any questions other than the 2 above .

Day 1 (5/11/2015):

Using the templates from nonameboxmods I managed to drill some holes for the mounting of the chip with a dremel. Manage to epoxy the magnets on the lid as well. Stopped after getting a knock on my wall by neighbour @ 8PM.
Problem 1: Dremel can only do a maximum of 1/8" holes. Far too small for the required holes to come.

Day 2 (6/11/2015):

Through the cover of the day, managed to get the screen cutout done.(Not gonna get another knock on my wall today) What's left to do is to acquire proper tools for both my 12mm firing switch and 7/16" 510 slot. Proceed with some filing after which for both the screen and usb cutout.

Full aluminium box.
Initially I thought of doing a 3d printed faceplate, however that will jack the total cost higher than it should have been. Besides, more holes to do up = more hours of fun

I'll do a inventory count after setting up everything.

I'm excited to start building a unit myself, starting small at dna30 or 40 mods.
Do you think the chip clones are safe to use, cos they are hella cheaper than authentics.

Got any good links on how to build a cpu? Once I get the chip, rest should be easily sourceable locally.

I'm going to use a clone dual 18650 Hana mod as my base, and just affix my DNA200 chip inside. Won't hit 200w but i'm damn sure it will be much easier than starting from scratch again.

Can't really comment on clone chips but I suppose they should be fine nevertheless.
Depending on what box you choose, as to dna40 box I'm not too sure where to source drilling templates.
As to soldering, that's the easy part just have to match specifications.

Definitely easier, but it also takes away the fun of drilling the box Also dual 18650 needs a few more wire connection for battery rather than jst-xh plug.

Day 3 (7/11/2015):

Luckily the firing button screw up can be covered by my mitec 1202

Managed to drill some holes before night time(least neighbour complain again)
Will spend the rest of the night filing the holes to decent condition. One step closer!

Just as I posted hehe, planning to fit a lipo. Soldering for lipo is much more straightforward.
One caveat is that lipo locally are really limited, I can only find a 1500mah that fits. 2250mah that wont fit
Would test with the local lipo before purchasing a bigger capacity, also 1590B is HUGE.

i read that you need a lipo to reach 200w for the dna200 chip, if you're using 18650x2, the max you can reach = 150w. i think you can go to the local battery shop and give the dimensions of the lipo you need + pow/amp so it can fit your case.

133W to be exact, but for monitoring battery charge you'd need to do extra soldering on the jst-xh plugs.

WELL the RC scene here isn't as rampant, so choices are far and apart. But eh 1500mah isn't that bad either so might just settle with that until later.

Looks great. Check out the modding forum. You will find 1000's of posts on what you are doing, how to build your internals and finishing your mod. I do not recommend a clone chip. It will be nothing but problems. Find an Evolv board you like and buy it.

well there's this guy on youtube, find my vapes is his channel, he does modding of such things and even teaches you how to swirl dip paint the mod, great handy video if you're looking to get into DIY mods

Bad day, performed a rookie mistake of shorting wires with batteries plugged in . (Should have known better as an electrical engineer)
Welp, will have to wait till new fuse arrives for updates

*If you're planning to do a DNA200 mod, please get ready some fuses just in case (or at least be more cautious about powering device while test fitting)

If you can get your hands on flux, get it. Will help with soldering, at least it did for me. But you EE soldering should be solid one!

Update!

working nicely now, other than the fact the screen is off centre due to late delivery of mounting screw
That will do for now, so much wasted space as well (only could find 1500mah locally that would fit, 2200 thats a tad too long)
