Sooooo I ordered a cpu ...

What is the ohm reading on your coil?
Don't own a multi-meter nor a resistance reader. Resistance definitely within the sub-ohm region, forgot the exact reading my friend showed me before he sold it to me. Mostly tested with 3 AAs to match 4.5v (each alkaline being 1.5v). I do wonder why I haven't seen a sub-ohm build on a Puck mod, despite it being built for 901s.

Then again, I was testing my mod build on a 510 from a kBox which couldn't fire in the 1st place. I might've thought that it was more of an internal problem, but now I'm just confused. Wires were tested with premade wires from the battery holder + 26awg wires to closely match to those of the battery holder. Switch had screw-on terminals. The only soldering I did was to the kBox 510.

Well I would start first with ditching the sub ohm coil and rebuilding one that is 3 ohm.

If your batteries are warm, it means it's working, you're just sucking way too much power from them.

Next change to nimh batteries as per recommenAtion.

That should do the trick, if not, your connection may be poor somewhere.
Alright man, thanks a bunch! Will update with new found results (or not). But why no sub ohm though? Been wondering ever since I read the Puck mod article. Voltage is around the same with standard 18650 batts, or do AA batts have a lower discharge current count?

IT FINALLY WOOORKED!! After I saw smoke coming out from the battery holder (i was scared as ****), I realized there's a short somewhere. So I googled if this was actually a legit problem, there's bound to be someone experiencing the same problem. True enough, turns out the kbox 510 has a history of failing, mainly due to its insulators going out of place. Spent an hour adjusting the insulators and YESSS IT GLOWED!

Tried with 3 Alkaline AAs 1.5v each and also 4 NiMH AAs 1.2v each, with a resistance of 3ohms. I'd like to thank you again for the input man, greatly appreciated!

To those who may be experiencing a mod failure from the kBox, maybe it's because of your 510 insulaors. Take a look at this.

Not enough power. The battery cannot power it

No drill, so I went Macgyver Mode and melted the case using my solder hahaha. Don't worry, it's 3D printed with ABS and is safe to melt/mold without worrying about the fumes. Anyway it's the same when you 3D print with ABS... it melts the plastic and molds. Wish my 3D printer still worked though, custom boxes all day everyday!

Anyway, the kBox insulator got torn  so I can't use it anymore. Finding a spare rubber as a makeshift insulator.......... still finding. Well at least It worked for an hour or so, and let me tell you, it felt extremely satisfying. I don't mean the vaping, I mean the achievement!

A quick update. I managed to fix the kBox 510 AGAIN. Used the mod's buttons itseld. Under that button is a translucent rubber pressy thingy that seemed small enough to fit into the 510 screw hole. Made a hole in the middle of the rubber thingy to fit the 510 positive pin in, fit the whole thing into the 510 itself and BOOM... It fires! Happily vaping away now :headbang:

First ever cardboard box mod, anyone? Anyway, finally got my hands on a 18650 holder. Reused the kBox 510 but used 22awg wires this time round. Good thing about this is... can use penknife to make holes. If too small, just ram it in. :2cool: Vapes like a charm.

You guys/gals know about the modder's section, yes?
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/forums/modding-forum.51/

Never mind. Missed Classy's post.

P.S.
TLDR but for anyone reading this stuff:
Get a DMM if you're not already using one and check for shorts BEFORE you hook a battery up.
And see the modder's section for advice on safety checks and VENTS.

Thanks @AttyPops I think this thread is specific to SG folks thats why modders are posting in here instead of the mod sub forum. :)
