Hello all, new member here. I recently acquired a royal hunter rda (not sure if it's authentic or a clone though). I've tried a couple of builds in it and I enjoy the vape and flavor I get from it, but after using it I would wake up with a sore throat. I have an El Cabron that I use regularly and I've never had this issue with it. Has anyone had any issues like this before, and is it the rda itself or just an issue of getting used to the new experience? Thanks in Advance for any help!

I have never had any issues with anything like this. I may just be the RDA. It may be that it vapes slightly different and give you a better hit of the nicotine, which can give you a sore throat.
It's definetly a much tighter draw...much different than the Cabron. I really enjoy it though. I may drop nic levels and see if it helps

There are so many possible causes from too much nicotine or PG to too Hot a temperature of the vape to just you overdoing it and vaping to much and drying out your throat. Very hard to say because I am not a ENT Specialist but if the symptoms persist please see a doctor. But you could cut down or not vape this tank at night to self diagnose and rule out the possibilities yourself.

I stopped use for a few nights, throat didn't hurt. Used it again for a night, throat hurt the next morning. So I've deduced it has something to do with the Royal Hunter. I've used the same wire, cotton and juice in my other RDA and no problem with it. I'm assuming it has something to do with the nicotine level hitting differently, just wanted to see if anyone had any info or similar experiences with this specific RDA

Are you using different power levels with the RH?

Are you drinking enough water?

Are you vaping the RH more?

Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

The builds I've used for the RH are about the same ohm wise and wrap size as the ones for my Cabron, and I've kept the wattage range the same. I drink close to a gallon of water a day, and only use the RH for an hour or so after I get home after work and all that.
Could need to use lower wattage on it maybe

Any chance you might be straining your throat on the tighter airflow? Ive had this happen to me when switching from an airy atty to a tighter one.

There are plenty of variables that could be influencing your throat to become sore, so it is going to be hard to narrow done the cause(s). Here are some that plenty of other responders have chimed in:
  • Airflow/Inhale draw
  • Time spent vaping on the RH
  • Hydration
  • Wattage
  • Nicotine
  • PG/VG ratios
I would suggest playing around with these and fine-tuning it until you find a balance. Time consuming, but the safest route.

Another possible reason for complication is heat. This is directly related to wattage, but heat really does a lot to your respiratory system and can be very irritative to the upper respiratory tract - damaging if it is very severe heat. It could be heat irritation or dehydration from hot air.

One solution that I see people advising is increasing the airflow and lowering the wattage. This allows you to take in more air that is cooler and more humidified as compared to warm vapor. Ironically, even though vaping is essentially humidified air, you are not necessarily taking in the water that is in the air enough when you vape at too high a wattage/temperature.

Good luck finding a solution and let us know what worked for you.
