Apologies because I'm sure this has been done so many times, but I'm struggling to trawl through all the threads and find what I want so..... stopped smoking in early Feb after health scare and started vaping. Started off with SkyCig kit and got on OK. Just much too expensive for replacement cartridges, batteries etc. so tried boge cartomisers and various e-liquids. Settled on a couple of flavours in 50/50 vg/pg but tasted fairly weak. Dripping into used Skycig carts was slightly better but inconsistent. This was using the standard Skycig 510 batteries so decided to try - Joyetech eGo-C 1000 Battery [VE316] - £16.99 : Vape Escape . Pretty good and seems to produce plenty of vapour - but still weakish flavour. Unfortunately found that my Skycig charger doesn't work with the Ego so now having to buy new charger. I've looked at atomisers/clearomisers but got pretty confused with it all. What I'm really looking for is a simple set-up for when I'm out & about and perhaps something a bit better for home. Any pointers to a consistent and not over-expensive vaping life would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Never be sorry, vaping is such a personal thing that without hearing all the different opinions you wouldn't be able to find what works for you! We have a vaping household and we all use different set ups. I hear good things about evod, protanks rock (but I hate metal tips), vivis can be a little touchy but when they work they work well and hubby prefers carto tank set ups.

Have fun with it and vape on.

Hello & welcome wishbonefish :)

You have gone with a very good UK vendor, Vape Escape's customer service is second to none.

Do try the evods as others have suggested. And as your Sky cig has a 510 thread, you can use any 510 cartomisers on it (plus you can also use them with your ego battery). Boge cartomisers are still my favourites -

Standard resistance for your Sky cig -

Boge 510 Standard Resistance (5) [VE145] - £5.99 : Vape Escape

And you can use the lower resistance ones with your ego battery.

Here is a list of some other good UK e-cig & e-liquid suppliers plus discount codes -

I find that clearomizer preference is as individualized as juice preference. I prefer top coil devices like the T2...I find the Protank and T3s just too airy. Of course cartos tend to mute flavor as well.
You should have expanded your statement to include all of the juice delivery devices. My preferences are exactly the opposite of yours. :)

My favorite is a carto in a cartotank for the best flavor production. I prefer the cooler vape of the bottom coil clearos when I do use them. The top coil clearos are too warm, and sometimes seem harsh and mute flavors.

So, wishbonefish, as you can see everyone's preference is based on many factors and opinion. You will need to try a variety of devices to see which that you prefer, and not rely on someone's opinion on a forum. Whatever device that you choose, be sure to learn as much about that device as you can by doing a You Tube search for reviews on that device - how it works, how to fill it, how to clean it, how to repair it.

I honestly would say give an evod head a try. It will work with your battery and it really has good flavor and vapor production in my experience. (i just got one a week or two ago and i prefer it to my protanks at the moment):2c:

I just ordered an evod and I currently have the Protank..can't wait to try it out

I'd look into a mid size ecig with a 600 mah (milliamp hour) to 1000 mah battery, 510 or eGo (type of ecig and connector, there are others but this seems to be the most wide spread), some cartomizers and a couple of 20 to 30 ml bottles of ejuice to start, budget permitting. I bought 10 cartos and have gone through 6 in two weeks. 4 were vaped til the filling burned, then I did more reading and learned how to refill and clean them so if you self-educate first, you'll have a longer life from your starting kit. Still, cartos are a disposable item and pretty inexpensive, it's not a big loss and I learned something.

Once you have a bit of experience, it will be easier to determine what your ecig needs will be. I got an eVic and learned that I dislike the iClear16 due to the poly carbonate tank and insufficient build quality; cracked from vaping clove ejuice in a week. I learned I'm not wildly pleased with the iTaste VV v3 construction and quality, and that I really enjoy both carto tanks and RBA (rebuildable atomizer type delivery devices, usually dripper or genesis tank style). Having a vv (variable voltage or wattage, both mean adjustable power via different means) device to start was a good move for me, I like different settings and dialing down to specifics for different systems and juices... but if I were to do it over, I'd get a better constructed similar sized fixed voltage manual ecig for the same money, to start out. It's worth it to me to have a reliable device on the go in my pocket.

High Wishbone. Welcome to the forum. I lived in your area for many years. (Chilworth....)

I have a variety of batteries and atomizers/clearomisers/tanks. As you have a decent battery, I'd suggest you try out some clearomisers ASAP.
(and get a charger...)

My suggestion would be to get a Mini Vivi Nova, an Evod and maybe one else. I use my mini novas more than anything else in my box, and speaking quite frankly, a Protank on a standard battery looks silly. I have one, which I use on an eVic, but out and about....No.

Post on here or PM me if you need any help, or find me on AAEC or UKV.

I started on E-Lites (like skycig but even more over-priced and hopelessly ineffective.....) I bet those are popular in Guildford town centre. :) :(

The CE4s will last at max two weeks
The Protank is nice but a little airy
Heard some nice things about evods and I know there are many starter kits
I guess the ideal starter kit would be a Vision Spinner (1300 mah) and an evod

Having said that I started with an CE4 plus ego 1100 kit
And started buying more advanced stuff
My current favourite is a Protank with a minor cotton ball modification on the wicks on a vv usb passthrough

Hi I wanted to check if anyone knows how many times you can top up a pre-filled cartridge with e-liquid before you need to change or chuck it?
In my experience it really depends on how it performs and tastes, usually you can tell when it drops off and tastes kinda "mucky" not really a set amount of times

Thanks. The thing with cartridges is the bottom ends up burning and they have a burnt taste especially with continuous vaping. I am not even sure when that happens if dropping e-liquid can "rescue" it. I noticed that the cartridges starts burning from the bottom even though the top of the cartridges are still wet.
