My better half works for the state of South Dakota. Recently they sent a memo out telling its employees that they are not allowed to use E-smokes on State owned property. They must go off the property to use them. They consider it a tobacco product because it has nicotine in it. The funny thing is you can see all the chewers walking around with a mouth full of cud.

I this an actual law? Also, I know the rule has been already made but what if there's no nicotine involved? I'm sorry to hear that because it's a major blow to the vaping community!

No it is not a law, just policy for employees. Seems the state is falling inline with the hospitals here. They have the same policies. The state gets away with these BS policies by being a right to work state. This way if you dont do what they wish, they can fire you for any reason they wish.

I guess there's no way to fight it. They can set whatever policy they want. I was on a flight recently and they actually made a statement before takeoff that E Cigarettes were banned from use on the plane. I don't think it was an actual law but a decision made by AirTran. On a subsequent flight, there was no mention of it. It's only a matter of time before more and more rules and regulations are put in place regardless of the actual law.

The whole kicker to this is that the state wants the employees to go where the smokers go. Now if your trying to quit smoking by vaping, the state is kicking you in the teeth for trying. Seems like a bunch of BS to me. You cant even use the E cigarette in your car on state property. I suppose the second hand vapor may kill someone. LOL

It is a bunch of BS. Unfortunately, policy seems to always be made by people that are completely clueless as to the issues at hand. They're either non smokers or ex smokers that have the same mentality as a "dry drunk" and are literally on a crusade to ban anything that even looks like smoking. Like you stated earlier...they have no problem with chewing tobacco and the gross habits that go along with it.
