Seems like it has happened to more people than we know, lol! Wish it had been that easy for me, twas not......

I have friends who definitely walk in other gifts of the Spirit who have never spoke in tongues, so I believe a person can be Spirit filled and not show with the "evidence of tongues" so to speak.

Absolutely!! Over the years, I've come across a few that basically said that if you didn't speak in tongues, you weren't saved. But that was not the norm at all. Just some folks who drew inaccuate conclusions.

So LisaLisa.... what do you think of the discussion.... has it helped clarify anything for you?

Ah, I'm just taking it all in and digesting it, but it's going down a little hard!

I think it's wonderful for some people, but probably not for me I guess. I guess my life experiences have been different from most, so I scare easily when it comes to supernatural things and don't trust easily either, and I think that I'd be afraid of it, honestly.

I was harassed by demons from a very young age, so I"m a little bit damaged from that I suppose. Jesus understands, and that's why I think He is a little more gentile with me then maybe someone else who isn't so afraid.

I have experiences while I'm sleeping alot. The most recent ones were just a few days ago and last week that when I was half awake and just barely conscious, I could feel the presence of God and I was smiling, I was smiling so hard it wasn't even possible to smile bigger or harder, but it was incredible joy and felt incredible love, warmth and peace. I was not physically smiling, atleast I don't think so, but it was my spirit that was overcome with incredible joy, too difficult to explain or put into words. But, it happens.........lol. And, it's a great thing. And there was the time I was filled with the Holy Spirit, that really rocked my world, lemme tell ya! That was an awesome experience there.....

But, no speaking in tongues for me. Maybe when He comes and everything is good and all bad memories are washed away, but for now I think I'll leave that stuff up to others who enjoy it. :)

You are so open and honest and tender... it brings tears to my eyes. You're just amazing the way you are and it's awesome to hear about your experiences with the Lord. By the way.... When Jesus comes, there won't be any need for it anyway... scripture says the need for it and the gifts themselves will pass away. You're just ahead of the curve. :thumb:

Yea, sometimes I just sit and daydream about what it will be like to finally live in His Holy Kingdom when everything that is bad and evil is finally gone and nobody has to be afraid anymore. I think about it, and picture what it will be like, but I don't think that we can really imagine how wonderful it really will actually be because we really don't have a reference for it in our human minds because it's too incredible for words even.

Then that scripture comes to my mind that the former things won't come to our minds anymore. I guess our earthly memories will be gone, atleast the bad ones anyway. What a wonderful day that will be! :)

Yep, that would be me! This just came to me while I was reading all of the posts. Praying in tongues, is the next step above English that praises God. Does that make any sense? Almighty God is a spirit and the Holy Spirit within us is reaching the Throne Room in a higher language that we don't understand.....OR the language that the Holy Spirit uses to communicate with God the Father, since He is part of the Trinity. You know, I can't help but wonder if the Holy Spirit gets homesick.....silly beyond belief, but He hasn't resided in Heaven in ...... oh say 2011 years. Like I said, silly thought. :)

You are so sweet, Cuz. You are always encouraging and exhorting people. That is what I love about this group of ladies.....yeah, we disagree on some things, but everyone has such a sweet and helpful spirit. I'm just proud (not prideful) to know ya'll and am humbled to be able to call ya'll my friends.

No one knows what tomorrow is going to bring, and if something happens to me before I can sign back on this board, I just want you all to know what a privilege it is to know you and pray with you. You have enhanced this lady's life and I wanted to tell you. I love ya'll. So there! I said it. The cat is out of the bag! The bus is leaving the station! The airplane has clearance to take off! And any other thing you can come up with!

And the wonderful thing about it all, Lisa, is that it is a choice. You don't have to speak in tongues!:) There are other gifts that are in your stock pile already. One thing to remember is that we could possibly speak in another language in Heaven so all will know and understand, instead of us speaking different languages like we do on earth. I'm just guessing here....I don't have any fore knowledge about it. It's just a thought. Whatever we speak, I do know we will know and understand each other, while we do the 'glory strut!':)
