You may do best for yourself to not consider stepping down on the nic level for a while. Get used to vaping first. When your mind and body no longer realize they are missing several thousand chemicals & carcinogens they are used to getting, then think about stepping down. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure I didn't step down until 4 to 6 months into it.

Old habits die hard and time heals. That's a short and powerful statement. Every single day that passes is a mini milestone. It's all about baby steps. Long term memory bridges baby steps. Short term memory has no idea about baby steps. Every day away from those terrible things is a step in the right direction. In a year you'll be like "that was kinda easy", tomorrow you'll be like "this is kinda hard".

vaping is the perfect middle ground between nrt's/cold turkey and the real thing. At all costs, make it work as best you can. As time goes by it will become all joy and no pain. No pain, no gain anyways. There are no utopian shortcuts here but vaping surely bridges a MASSIVE gap between previous methods and the real thing.

I have to put vaping into the miracle category.

One of my pet maxims about all this and why it works is the flexibility. When you look at that MAOI abstract you can see how the odds are stacked against you when quitting. But with the flexibility of vaping you can "do what you gotta do" to break the MAOI/nicotine cycle without feeling like throwing yourself - or the closest nearby person - under a bus in the process. When you start, chain vape if you must, titrate your nic level to where you need it to be. Change it up - higher nic in the morning if that's where your craving black hole is, lower the rest of the day. Lower your nic level overall - when you feel it's right for you. It's a custom fit - changeable as needed - for every unique person.

Second THIS emotion! When I smoked though, I would have monthly panic attacks. 7 months into vaping, and I just realized that the last one was 3 months ago! I wonder if the attacks were just caused by my unconcious attempts to cut down on the smoking and therefore not getting enough of the "chemicals" (cannot say the D word here) that kept me hooked.

Definitely unhooked now though!! I waver between 4 and 6 on the nic... Depending on how I feel at the time. I started at 18, but most start a bit higher. Lower when you want and have some higher with you in case.

I'm happy to read this thread. I'm honestly not sure where I am in this process, lol, the first few days I smoked 4 a day, then quickly got down to 2 a day for a couple of weeks and tried 1 a day but only for 2 days. Now I have been smoke free for almost 13 days and experiencing many of these symptoms. I really am not accomplishing anything at all, just sitting at the computer, no energy, and no desire to create, I'm a digital artist and crafter. I have a mild headache at times and an almost sore throat that comes and goes and just generally feeling blah. I have suffered with panic disorder for at least 30 years and that doesn't seem to be acting up at the moment, but since I came to terms with it, that seems to be the way it goes, no panic attacks for sometimes months and then boom there it is again.
The last few days I've really wanted a cig, and it doesn't help that my SO is still smoking so they are here and nothing I can do about that.
I've had stomach troubles off and on for much of my adult life and sometimes now it's better than it was and sometimes different altogether.
I'm really happy to see that this is all to be expected and will pass soon. :)

That's also where Higher NIC or WTA helps....
Give yourself a little push to get over those cravings.

Reading through these posts .... Yes, I thought I'ld have all this new wonderful energy when I quit. NOPE. Keep a bottle of stronger nic on hand for the really tough times. I never used the WTA. I started with 36 nic though. Please be patient with yourself. Your body is kinda in "shock", lol. It lasted awhile for me. It does pass. Please don't rush to lower your nic too soon. There will be time for that later. For now, IMHO, you need to just focus on getting all the other stuff out of your system. Drink lots of water, have fun with flavors and equipment. You're doing something amazing right now. Just be patient. Try to think of each of the side effects (lazy, zits,mouth sores) as a badge of courage ...or something! lol
