When i first started this was me. I was ready to throw it all out the window. I dont remember how it i learned or got the hang of it either. I think this is really something you have to practice, well at least i did.

They tried to teach me in the vape shop, but breaking a 35 year draw technique with smoking took time. After a week I started to get it right more often than I didn't. But, I sttill messed up from time to time for a few months really. And I would flood an Aerotank.

Can't help with regard to building tanks, I had the same kind of issues, with several different tanks. I switched to a dripper. Much easier to build on, less finicky with regards to wicking. PG/VG ratio makes no difference you just make sure the wick stays wet. If you get on with a dripper you could then try a bottom feeder (squonk) mod, much less hassle when you are out and about.

OP, you should have been around in the early days.......everything leaked, all the threads stripped , all the mods were cheap(quality wise, not Price!) , all the juice was terrible, with notable exceptions(provari/Rheo/etc)......I have to say some of the time my shortcomings were due to user error (my first dripper didn't work.....I didn't know it needed a coil and wool!!)...I've thrown away well over 1K in crappy stuff........we've come a long way but after all as most/all electronics are mass Produced in China so QC is hit and miss...it boggles my mind what you can get today for 40 bucks........don't get frustrated , take the advice above and take it one step at a time and you'll be up and running , good luck

Try a tobeco supertank mini.
It's been rock solid. Just don't see many complaints on the forum about
the tobeco.
Why recommend spending More money to someone complaining about spending money?
The Op already has decent equipment and has bought to much as-is. Time to learn to use properly not shop more.

Op you can technically be doing everything correct and still make mistakes sounds stupid I know but it's true every tank has a way of doing things that rarely work on another tank so as others have said just use one tank have patience and get that working properly then move on. Everyone has come close to where you are at some time or another but good vaping just isn't plug and play though it's getting better usually in the end the frustration and time does get rewarded.

Because I'm not familiar with the equipment that he is vaping on.

I do know that I was looking at Tanks and the Subtank Nano was panned in the forums with many people having the same problem that he has.
Subtank Nano Spitting?
I had bad experience with Tanks until I researched and bought the newer generation of tanks. A Crown Tank, Tobeco Supertank Mini and a TFV4. I bought them all after a lot of research. I've had the same problem with the TFV4 that others have which is the first time you use it, all the liquid leaks out. But for a month and 1/2 it's rock solid. C

Look at these threads, not one person came on board with a complaint about the mini.
Tobeco mini supertank
Tobeco Super Tank Mini.... Why not popular?

I bought the Mini because my local brick and mortar said that it was rock solid.

I've met many people who have used the Tobeco Supertank Mini, I've looked on the forums and never seen a complaint

Since I'm not familiar with his equipment, there is always the possibility that he's bought ....e or been unlucky.
The only way I know to fix his problem is to be sure that he's buying solid equipment.

Search the forums and see if you can find one complaint about the Tobeco Supertank Mini. You won't' find it because it's a solid tank.

well its safe to say im totally sick of all of this now. i have looked well into vaping and the best methods yet every single tank ive bought spits and gurgles. i went to a vape store and met some of the most canny, clued up fellows trying to help me out. the guy set up my maganus dvc... gurgles spits. i bought a new aspire cleito... gurgles spits. i have had 2 subtank nanos.. both gurgle and spit ond both leak. have bought 2 subtank minis... both gurgle and spit. i swear im doing everything right, priming the coils fine, doing this that. my vape isnt silly either.. i take nice slow draws and dont push the tank over the edge. literallyt nothing has worked for me and its cost me over 300 quid, 350 to be more exact. im ready to stop all this now and just smoke tabs on nights out.. i thought i had a chance with vaping but it seems as if someone somewhere doesnt want me doing it. can anyone suggest anything before i totally give up and accept the fact ive wasted 350 quid. honestly its not me. ive done everything possible to try and sort it out, clearing out my attys, building my own coils, using the correct wattage i could go on for days with what ive tried. :( very unhappy at the moment.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time getting things to work for you. You've already had some great advice on how to troubleshoot a tank.

I started with tanks in 2012 and they all have 'little details' that need to be understood to get them to work right. I can't think of a tank I've used in 4 years of vaping that could not be used incorrectly to the point that it would either give me dry or burnt hits, or flood and gurgle. They are not difficult once you understand a given tank, but it can be frustrating until you do.

A rebuildable dripper (RDA) doesn't have a tank. I never thought I would appreciate dripping because the thought of carrying a bottle of juice around and dripping a few drops each couple of drags seemed like a really dumb thing to do. Then I tried it and quickly realized the benefits. These eliminate the added complexity of getting the juice in the tank to the coil(s) because you do that manually. The drippers I use have deep drip wells so I get quite a few drags from one shot of juice. Yes, they also have their 'little details' that need to be learned, but vacuum is eliminated.

I almost didn't want to post this because I totally agree with the philosophy of learning to get the most from your gear before moving on to something new. That was what I did when I started vaping and it served me well. However, if you want something to vape while you experiment with a tank, an RDA might just keep your frustration at bay while you do that. And they're inexpensive, even taking into account a roll of Kanthal and some cotton balls.

You've already had some good advice on this thread, but I'll reiterate or regurgitate what's already been said because it's the best advise we can give you here.

You're already new to vaping, that's alot to learn. Now buying tank after tank, mod after mod that's not going to help you one bit. If anything your brain is probably confused beyond belief.

Grab all your gear pick one mod and one tank, put the rest away for now. Learn to use or better yet master that one tank and one mod, use it exclusively until you know that piece of equipment inside and out. Then move to something else in your arsenal. Keep on doing this until you get the swing of things, you're only going to get more and more frustrated by buying more things and you'll eventually give up and not vape at all or worse go back to cigarettes. Ask questions here or at a local shop but buying more and more things, that's not doing you any good not to mention the unnecessary strain it'll put on your budget.

You Researched and Got more equipment. Knowledge is a totally different thing.
Wife has been using the Subtank Nano......with my support.......since Christmas.
NO SPITTING

Cheaper to learn than throw money at problems in hopes.;)

It's a new world out there. You should be able to buy a tank, use a stock cartridge and have no problems.
It's why I bought the Crown and the Tobeco Super mini because I perused the forums took recommendations.
I need zero knowledge to use either of these.
As for the TFV4 I just wanted to vape at 120 Watts on my RX-200.

All right. Let's start with the subtank mini....Are all the orings in the right place? Do you use stock coils or the rba? What's the resistance of the coil you're using? And at which wattage do you vae that? Which inhalation technique do you use, mouth-to-lung, or direct-lung hits?
All bottom coil tanks need negative pressure to keep from leaking. So it's important to take a few draws right after you've filled your tank, dry pulls with a new coil or regular draws with a used coil.
So just answer the questions above and let's see if we can get you to enjoy your subtank mini. It shouldn't have all those problems you're describing.
Once you've mastered the subtank, someone else might help you with your other tanks. We'll take a step-by-step approach here :)

Subtank mini is not good, gurgles and spit back when i got it, got rid of it immediately, it did have good flavor around 25-30watts, thats a year ago tho when the subtank and mini just came out, dont know about now

Wife uses a Subtank with no issues and what she understands about Vaping would fill a thimble.

There is NO device on the Market with a 100% Satisfaction rating.
Everyone is different and has different experiences accordingly.
Rarely has anything to do with the actual device.

Yes indeed, but my experience was good and bad at the same time, good flavor, good vapor, but the spitback, oh god, and the leaking... I like the tank but the shortbacks got me to sell it, but yes u r right everyone is different
