My room is tidy thanks, and mum hasn't directed my actions since I moved out at 16.
I wasn't really suggesting that we all have to be quite that careful of the things that we say. What I am suggesting is it's a relatively decent rule of thumb. There are people of *all* ages on this forum - from all backgrounds, etc. The one thing that unites us is the fact that in one way or another, we're all smokers. Aside from that - we have tremendous diversity.
The person you address in your next post, just might be someones mom, or grandma, or a priest! It isn't difficult to "think before you speak" and take that into account. Like I said - I don't love it myself, but dems da rules. Personally I enjoy the exercise my brain meats get from trying to disagree without dropping twenty f-bombs.

This paranoia is absolutely ridiculous. Any post that is reported is looked at by all mods with equal weight.
If a mods' actions are criticized, we'll talk about it - that's the whole point in the system!!!!
Seriously, we have a dedicated, respectful group of mods that have been hand picked for their integrity over a period of months. They are not going to single anyone out because their actions were criticized.
If I saw evidence that this were the case, that mod would be removed, I guarantee it.

As far as I'm concerned anything goes - until it becomes abusive, or puts the forum in danger of breaking laws, and then it needs removing.

I hope I can ask a question since you are here responding, and I'm sure others want to learn and know.....if what you say above is true, then why are some of the mods (not all) so over the top going to so many threads trying to control things and conversations so much? I think that makes people get miffed feeling like they are being controlled so much...I think all of us understand no outward cussing, nothing illegal, and no personal attacks or racism or complaining about the mods. We get that. I think a lot of us are just asking why such CONTROL by some, making others feel uncomfortable.
Basically, Joe, I'm given to sarcasm, with varying degrees of viciousness, as may have been evident. I didn't say topics were a concern, just my method of expressing myself. Recently, I find myself tanking posts instead of submitting them, not because of the potential response from whoever I'm posting at, but because I feel it might draw mod censure, and I won't let anyone frame how I say what I say.
Excepting the current conversations about modding and bans and so on, I never post at or about mods. I don't think I've ever run hogwild on the forum - certainly never broke any laws and if I abused anybody it was pillow fight stuff, and we both had pillows.
Back in the silent groves I flinch (and flinched) when members pull bans for standing their sometimes ill-chosen ground (a lot of it was .... - but sincere ..... I do like a sincere .......). I don't vest enough self in here to take a stand but I do have to feel able to express myself freely. I know that nothing I have to say is worthy of banning, or even notice, but I think I will respond (and that right unwisely) if I get called out by a bicep builder.
I don't quite know how I've painted myself into this corner, but it's happened before and I'm sure the paint'll dry eventually.
