I'm planning to order two 1 liters of 10% (100% PG solution) to break down into 17 120ml bottles for long term storage in the freezer. All of my supplies will be from MFS and WizardLabs.

I've dabbled with mixing in the past, but I've never worked with this quantity of nic.
I have a safe, clean work space. I have gloves, eye protection, and I might order an organic vapor respirator if it's needed? I've only worked with 6% up until now.

1. Would it be reasonable funneling a 1 liter into a 2 liter plastic container, giving it a vigorous shake to ensure an even distribution of the nic to start off? Or would it suffice to pour half a liter of nic into a liter bottle and shake both separately? The latter doesn't make much sense to me, and honestly both methods strike me as not the best way to go about this. Is there a better method?

2. If I do in fact need the 2 liter bottle/container, does anyone know off hand where to source it? I've only begun to look around, but have yet to find a source that doesn't require bulk purchasing.

3. Is leaving about 1/4" headroom considered the way to go (100% PG solution)? I've read several varying opinions.

4. Thanks.

It's fine to shake them in the containers there already in and not necessary to spent the extra cash to get a separate 2 liter bottle just for shaking purposes. Just make sure there at room temperature or a little warmer before you shake them and make sure you shake them well before re bottling. If you need to pour a little out to give you some shaking room then do so. After you shake them let them sit a while until the air bubbles are gone before bottling.

You seem to be good with everything else your doing including leaving about a 1/4" at the top.

I myself package my liters into 8 120ml bottles for working nic and freeze my extra liters in 1 liter glass bottles. Then just grab a fresh frozen liter to refill the 120ml bottles when there empty. Kinda saves space in the freezer.

What I do is pour out some of the nic into a large measuring cup.
Shake the ltr. nic bottle, that now has some free room.
Then pour whats in the cup, back in, and shake again.
I leave a 1/4" headroom in the 120ml boston round bottle.
You can fit 125ml in them, so 16 bottles should be enough.

@dannyv45 Keeping the 2nd liter stored in a glass bottle sounds like a solid idea. In addition to saving space I'd imagine this might reduce the total oxidation; possibly. This is supposed to last me about 11 years so I want to do it right. :)

@puffon Making some room in the bottle before shaking sound like it'd do the trick, or at least speed things up a touch.

    Appreciate the tips, guys!

If you haven't gotten your 120mL bottles yet for rebottling, GlassBottleOutlet has a terrific price on the Amber Glass Boston Round Bottles with the Polycone Liner in the cap. I compared them and 3 other sources many people on here used, and they were the least expensive, including S/H. They have extremely careful packaging, too, so I had nothing broken in either order I placed in the last year.

I haven't ordered yet, and those 120's cost about 70% less than what I was looking into.

    Thanks! :thumb:

You can ditch the safety gear. Goggles and heavy gloves are overkill. If you do contact 100mg/ml nic on exposed skin, just wash it off and you are fine. Pure nic would be another story, but even the 100 nic is relatively harmless even if it's unvapable.

I'll keep the gear. Peace of mind. And I don't want anything in my eyes aside from light. ;)

I've gotten 100mg NIC in my eye and it stings like hell so yes I would say eye protection at a minimum. But as was said 100mg on skin is not a big deal just wash it off right away.

But there's nothing wrong with gloves, lab coat or smock either. Better to be safe then sorry.

It's safe to recommend thin rubber gloves and eye protection. Keep the stuff out of your eyes. May be have a spill kit handy meaning kitty litter, mop, bucket, rubber gloves, etc.

Here's what I do. The nic comes in a 1 liter plastic bottle. I transfer it to a 1 liter amber glass bottle by pouring one to the other. May be practice that technique before you try it. I put the label from the plastic bottle on the glass bottle. It's important to have complete information about the contents on the bottle. That bottle goes in a zip lock bag. That is wrapped with thin bubble wrap then all that is put in another zip lock bag and may be taped to keep aproximately the original shape. That fits on the door shelf of my freezer compartment. If that bottle should break I'm hoping the spillage will be contained by the first or second zip lock bag so i can salvage most of it.

When It's time to use a bottle I plan to divide it into 4 250 ml amber glass bottles, put them in zip lock bags and store sideways on the small shelf of the freezer door. I've now emptied 2 250 ml bottles opening and mixing from them about once a month. Sofarsogood.

I like the label idea a lot; the multiple zip locks as well. Big fan of redundant systems here. I currently have two coat hangers holding my muffler in place to prove it.

I'll probably avoid that pour method, only because I don't have the steadiest of hands. High odds it could go poorly. Pun! But it makes good sense.

@dannyv45 @Capt.shay I never want to know what that feels like. Panic attack in the making.

@Rickb119 I was actually wondering how difficult it might be to eye the level while filling, so I'll be sure to incorporate some proper lighting, too. Thanks, man.

    Thanks, all!
