You can also take a spade terminal like on the right, bend and cut it so it looks like the one on the left, enlarge the hole a little, tap the spring holder screw into it, install in place of the spring, shape the fuse like so, cut a little off the straight fuse terminal, and wham bam fuse terminal and holder with no modification of the Reo necessary.

Having a lot of trouble translating what a spade terminal is into spanish, just found it. Is it 20mm long the one you have? That's the one I can get. Here's a picture of it, though it looks red it's actually blue according to the description, so I guess it might be the same (it says pictures might not match, electronic shops here don't care too much about their websites). What I don't really get is according to your picture, the spade terminal on the right... how did you get to that point? I guess as I haven't seen one ever, I might be missing something.



PS: I know it's a tiny image, but as you know the product you might tell me if I'm looking the right way. Thanks a lot, if I get that to work, I guess another 3 or 4 spanish reonauts might be really thankfull .

May be a stupid question (sure it is) but are all mini 10A car fuses the same? No other spec I should look into? I'm thinking of trying this sooner or later, might just grab a few of them. Incredible work you do here guys.

I don't know. All I know is that SeaNap did the research and presented us with the specifications page for the Littelfuse fast acting 10A mini fuses, and those specs played nicely with our aims. There's the question of v-drop (what is the resistance of another fuse?). More importantly, there's the question of how rapidly some other fuse will blow at a given amperage. SeaNap picked these because they blow fast enough to leave a 10A battery unharmed.

Like Super_X_ said; blow a fuse by shorting out your mod. They come in packs of 5, so you can spare one. When I shorted the Littelfuse brand, I hadn't even finished depressing the fire button before it blew.

I wouldn't recommend electrical tape. Use something more robust like flat self stick rubber. You won't know if it's not insulating so don't take any chances. My first attempts at this used electrical tape and I quickly realized and was also told that it was not enough.

The rubber pieces are much better and safer.

Absolutely.

As far as the tape thing goes, In my initial attempts, I had great success with liquid electrical tape painted on and cured over the danger zones of the fuse.

I just made several at a time and set them out to let the liquid set.

I used electrical tape to make a sort of pad. taped maybe 7 or 8 pieces on top of one another and cut it with an exacto knife into little sections like you mention super. I tripped 3 fuses just to be entirely sure it is working and its phenomenal. I never test my voltage drop with a spring but on a fully charge battery reading 4.2 it only dropped to 3.9 under load. I can live with that for now.

Once i read a little more i may try out some of the firing pin mods and such. I have access to quite a bit of 500 mcm copper cable right now (cut up into tiny pieces) not sure if i could use it for anything though....

The firing pin mod is just justing the brass shim correct?

Fuse is working well. The only problem I'm having is just space. My batteries are really tight with the fuse and spring base. I'll have to work something else out.

I just pulled the spring and base out and did it SXD style. Works great. I will be doing it Mundy style in the next couple days though.

SXD style is really a lazy mans iteration of pdib / Seanap / others style. I almost always take the lazy road but NEVER knowingly compromise safety.

The original dudes that rolled this out deserve props. I'm just clinging to their coat tails enjoying a killer vape

I think ill attempt to do a version that retains the screw in the bottom. It bugs me now that its missing, even though i never even really noticed it was there!

Bummed that ive got such a good vape now with this fuse but only my nasty do-not-like bottle of juice. Mt baker needs to open up already!!

there's a version in this thread somewhere where I took a full size fuse, clipped off the leg that would contact the body, and drilled a hole in the dimple and mounted the fuse body with the spring screw. I think.

i do remember seeing that. I may have to try it. Hopefully that would hold it in place. I think i may still leave in the electrical tape pad just to be safe. Going to go pick up a brass feeler gauge and try my hand at building a firing pin tonight after work. Hoping for good results!

The bottom pad of mine was inspired by Mundy, and I just drilled a hole in the pad that was smaller than the OD of the screw (1/16th if i remember correctly) then force tapped the hole with the screw and it's very sturdy.

PS The specific spade terminal that Mundy uses is called "Piggyback Male/Female Spade Connector (or terminal) 16-14 AWG" . There are many many sources online for these, and they are very cheep. Although my local Home Depot/Radio Shack/Pep Boys does not sell these at their Brick & Mortor's, I just bought regular Female Spade Connectors 16-14 AWG and removed the blue plastic and hammered the circular end flat and bent it 180 degrees. Crude but effective.

Had to modify the way my fuse grounds but it is working perfect. Pops the fuse on a short and my perfectionism is fulfilled!

Had to modify the way my fuse grounds but it is working perfect. Pops the fuse on a short and my perfectionism is fulfilled!

I'm having a hard time picturing a sacrificial spare sring. Care to elucidate?

It makes me feel bad; cause whenever I see it, I think of someone dropping one without having a replacement. And here I have all these.

I took the base plate of the spring and basically just cut out the part that had threads in it. Small little square that the screw could tap into. Only reason i did it is so that i dont have a hole in the bottom of it.

Just took a pair of snips and i was done! Had to change the fuse a slight bit though. Rather than bending it all the way under for the ground it just angles down and sits in the corner of the wall and bottom of the reo. Working great and i have a screw!
