please have a look at the attached picture. VapeOrama (German reviewer) who tested the clone, realized that this coating, lack, varnish - whatever in the clone is coming off! - so, it is for sure no ematal coating in the clone.

Well that sucks about the coating on the clone. Love my Squape. I've barely touched any of my many other attys since getting it. I need another one. I do kind of wish they would make a "mini" Squape.

I think those are the main drawbacks; and why the Squape hasn't really taken off. It's huge, and it's heavy. But they do set up easily, and they vape very well. I have 2 of them, and love them. But I think a 2.5 or 3ml version would be even better.

That sure would be nice. The current version does have some benefits too. E.g., this setup lasts pretty much all day without any juice or battery replacements:

Text of November 19th in English:

Dear Vaper-Community

We recognised, that our product SQuape has been copied and we are of course not amused about this case. The main disappiontment about this clone is to see how the manufacturer of the clone has stolen our design and name. We adjudge this boldness and also the distributer who ordered it from China 1 :1 and selling it on lowest price payed by poor conditions of employment.

In the last four days we were overwhelmed about the given support and backing comming from the community! Thank you all!
We can’t tell you a lot about the clone at the moment, but there are some doubtable points about the coating of the base and chimney. So far, there were no given proof by the manufacturer nor retailer, that the base and chimney are ematalised (ematal coated). As you know, this is the heart of the SQuape and because of that the SQuape is such easy and safe to handle. If the parts are not ematalised it could occur short circuits and health risk by using the clone.

In addition we kindly ask the community to keep cool – we try to keep calm too, although it is not easy for us. We will do our best to keep our feet on the ground and face this case as a matter-of-fact. Of course we consider legal action against the shop owners and manufacturers.

At beginning of December a new batch of the SQuape will be available at our partner shops – We drilled the holes of this SQuape bigger and because of this the draw will be more gentle. Although we have gotten a lot of great feedback about the current SQuape we are sure, that this easier airdraw will convince new customers about the quality of our original SQuape.

In this case:

Keep calm and keep on SQuaping

Sincerely your Team StattQualm"

So at the risk of sounding dumb, since no one KNOWS what the coating in the clone is, how do we KNOW it's dangerous?

I'm just curious (I personally love my kayfun)

ImportVapor.com

We don't know that it's dangerous, at this point. But we do know that it's different. It's obviously not the same ematal coating that the original has.

good point but there is the other side of that coin as well, if they wont tell us - how do we KNOW it's safe?

given China's track record regarding public safety i am not willing to ever give then the benefit of the doubt.

China has given us lead based paint on children's toys, toxic drywall, dog treats laced with arsenic, and a host of other potentially dangerous products. The coating on the Squape clone obviously is discoloring, where the original isn't. Given the choice, I'll error on the safe side.

i couldn't agree more. not knowing what that coating is exactly is taking a BIG chance and, i'm not willing to take it!

Ematal melts at well over 1200++°f (i dont know exactly how high but I would guess over 2-3k°f,) having never seen one of these I'm going to guess it is an acrylic coating which would melt at like 320°F

If it's rubbing off like that it's not anything even remotely like ematal, which is a kind of anodizing.

Looks sketch to me, I wouldn't touch that with a 10ft pole. =S I hope no one buys this clone now that I've heard about this.

I kinda like the fact that it's big and heavy; makes me feel like I've made a good investment that is going to last a long time. Easily my favorite RBA now. Plus I don't have to drain my juice when rebuilding/tweaking. Huge plus.
