Physics wise I do not see it malfunctioning in any way, should vape pretty near as well as a round or hex shaped coil, the downside I would see would be airflow around it, with a round or hex shaped coil the air can wrap around the coil, with a square the air has to move along a larger flat surface before wrapping along two other sides compared to a hex shape for instance.

/edit
That or you would have to mount the coil where a corner faced the air flow inlet to split the air.

I vote insufficient data. I don't think there's any danger if it blowing up at all, but there's a complex interaction going on between the air molecules and the coil surface. The squareish corners might set up turbulence that will reduce vapor production. Or it might work the other way because a square has more surface area than a circle given identical internal volume. One thing: coil calculators will not be accurate. You'll have to build and measure. But have a smack at it and let us know how it works.

I dont see a reason why it wouldnt work, and as stated above a coil calc wouldnt work the same but the wraps might be close so it would have to take a bit of tinkering to get the ohms you want, also wicking would take a bit of fiddling to make sure the whole coil gets cotton, and keep the corner of the coil direct to the airflow so it covers as much surface area as possible. give it a go and let us know how it works out for ya, Happy Vaping :)

okay so this may or may not be a stupid question. Can you build a square coil or of the sort and it work properly? I don't mean 4 round coils to resemble a square. I mean if I were to wrap a foul around a square block could I? And would it work efficiently or blow up on me.
don't see any problem with doing that I made a few rectangular coils form my protank 3 BCCs in an effort to avoid using flavor wicks or dual coils and it worked OK. you would have to calculate the amount of wire use and the resistance.I don't think the online calculators work for anything but round coils

If you use cotton wicking you do not need flavor wicks in the Kanger clearos.

You don't see many sharp angles in nature. Circles (2D) and spheres (3D) are much more common.

I understand your curiosity but I don't think it would work very well.
I remember a time we said oooooo dont let the coils touch or it wont work right - the trick will be figuring out the wicking
