Square coils

okay so this may or may not be a stupid question. Can you build a square coil or of the sort and it work properly? I don't mean 4 round coils to resemble a square. I mean if I were to wrap a foul around a square block could I? And would it work efficiently or blow up on me.

I can't think of any issue this design would have that can't be overcome to the point that it will give you at least a satisfying vape. There is a Japanese cotton called Koh Gen Doh. I bought mine from these folks. When you cut a sheet of it the cross section is square. I use that in round coils and it works superbly. Can't be any worse to use round cotton in a square coil. Square cotton in a square coil sounds like it could be pretty good too

OTOH, the only way you'll know is to try it and see for yourself. You can also put the cotton on the outside of the coil dragon style. Google 'dragon coil' and you'll see what I mean. It's not really a coil design, it's all about how it's wicked.

I've always toyed around with the idea of using a radiator type setup.. a square going up/down/up/down. Using it like a stovetop build Air would pass on the wire directly, and juice would be behind the "wall".

I would imagine getting the wicking into the corners might be tricky. Then there's the square RDA you would need to use with them...

There was a picture of a very neat square build, which also looked to be doing something weird with each coil being seperated in the middle. Since it had 4 coils, with that trick it was acting like 8 coils on 4 wicks.

I'd think even of you had wicking touching the entire inside surface the corners would still get hotter than the rest of the coil

If you use cotton wicking you do not need flavor wicks in the Kanger clearos.

this is true but even with cotton wicks a rectangular coil leaves a larger air channel on both sides of the coil and give a slightly more airy draw allowing for a slightly lower coil resistance and slightly more vapor production.I wrap then on a 2mm*4 mm form and use a rayon wick with them.this was an experiment that worked out well for me and allows me to use 1.8 ohm coils and still get a cool flavorful vape
