Hi! I just ordered my Reo Grand on Friday and I'm so excited to get it and start vaping!!! Since I never vaped before I have a few questions that I hope you will answer for me!

1.) When using cartos on a Reo, I read to fill the carto before using it. Ok. My question is, when you put it on the Reo do you squonk it right away before you start vaping? Do you do this as a dry pull?

2.) While you're vaping, are you supposed to squonk with dry pulls or take actual pulls?

3.) How do you know when or how often you are supposed to squonk the bottle?

4.) I can't believe I am asking this question but I have to! Before filling a carto I know you have to take off the little white cap with the hole in it that is in the carto. Once it's filled, do you keep that little cap off and just put on a drip tip and vape?

5.) How do you know when it is time to take out your battery to recharge it and put in a new one?

*Thank you and I wish all you great people a wonderful New Year! :)

Welcome new Reonaut!
When using a cartos on your REO you do not need to fill it before using. Yes, you can take off the white cap and use a drip tip.

Put the cartos on your REO and squonk while drawing on the tip slightly don't fire now. You will hear a little gurgle and might feel some resistance. Stop squonking! Now you can fire and vape! When the vapor drops or the flavor just do the squonk without firing and then vape.

Remember you will notice a drop in vapor or flavor that tells you to squonk again.

As far as the battery, well a multimeter can let you see the battery volts. You don't want it to go below 3.5. If you are using the AW IMR recommended batteries they will perform great then drop. Usually after a few hours. When you notice a drop in heat or vapor then change them out. You can not hurt them by charging them before they go dead. In fact it is better to recharge more often!

We love to help you out! Feel free to keep asking if any questions arise!

Enjoy your Grand!

mlinky - Hi!!! I'm here! :) I ordered the batteries you recommended! Thank you for telling me that I can just change the battery daily! That's great! Guess what! I told my dad about the ecig the other day and today he told me that he ordered one for his wife! He doesn't remember the name of it, but it looks like a cigarette and comes with a couple bottles of ejuice. (It's a trial so if she doesn't like it he'll have to cancel it in time before they charge him!) So far it only cost him $4.95. She's a menthol smoker and the kit doesn't come with a menthol flavored ejuice so that's a bummer but she can try a menthol flavor on my Reo! :)

tmcase - Thank you for your post! Thank you for your congratulations and encouragement! I am a little nervous about vaping for the first time, but since you all can do it I'm sure I can get the hang of it too! I'll have to check out the Reo Lounge too!! :) Happy New Year!

mlinky - Thank you so much for telling me that about the free trials! I'll tell my dad!!!

Welcome to the team new REOnaut!! Just wanted to add my take on one question:

1. I would actually recommend that you pre-fill your carto like usual. Let it sit for 20 minutes and put it on your mod and vape away. You should squonk it every 10-15 hits as if you were topping it off.

Only suggesting this because you might not have mastered your squonking technique yet. Also, your new to REO's and maybe bottom feeders in general. This might save you from getting a burnt carto. Which means you have to toss it since you were inhaling actual smoke.

Happy New Year to you as well!!

No problem at all and since your a brand new vaper too. Then it's going to be especially important for you to pre-fill it.

Here's some general directions on filling a carto just in case:

1. Drip around the edge of the filler material in 5 drop intervals. If your using something that is high in VG then you might just get 4 drops or so. Just want until it seeps into the filler material and wait a minute before you put another 5 drops in there. OR you can shake it like a thermometer to speed up the process.

2. Fill it until you reach either 25 drops for a standard sized carto (boges, kanger for example) or 45 drops (Resurrector, DCC).

3. Then let it sit for 20-30 minutes.

Just remember to let it rest for a few minutes every 5-10 hits so that it can re-wick. Since it takes a little bit of time for the diaper (little piece/s of cotton wrapped around the coil) to get moist again. This is important since this is the first thing that gets burnt. Doesn't take much as all and it's why it's important to either let it rest or top it off and resting it afterwards.

It might seem like a pain but, you will get a much better experience from your carto that way. Another way to fill it is the "condom" method which can be displayed here in my visual example:

For atomizers. It's best to prime them before use which means that when you get it out of the package. Drip about 6 drops in there and let it sit for 10 minutes. After that then just take a hit, if it tastes dry or you get a metallic taste then you would want to do a blind squonk. In which Nerak had explained to you in her post. Also, she covers when you should squonk again.

You will also get a sign that it's going to give you that metallic flavor since you will taste a hint of it on the hit right before you reach that point. Another thing, for 306's. I recommend that you de-wick it before use:

1. Look under the bridge of the atomizer. You will see the wicking material there.
2. Use a paper clip and push it to where you see the strands sticking out.
3. Finally use a pair of tweezers to pull all the wicking material fully out of there.

Benefits of de-wicking is to prevent any burnt tastes that you will get when you vape it enough. Also, it won't be as persistent as it were if you left the wick in there.

Hope I covered all the basic points for you and it helps out.

Hi Kblush! :) Let me just add that there is a learning curve to vaping in general. Not just the REO. So don't lose hope too quickly....come talk to us if you run into any problems. We're here to help you through the process. It can be difficult for some, and easy for others. Keep us posted! :D
I'm Lisa...nice to meet you!

washvap - Thank you so much for that additional info! I plan on using cartos so I watched the video on filling a carto using the condom method. What was fascinating was how he put the carto battery connector side down! I've only seen it done the other way around! Which method do you use? I couldn't see really well in the video, but when he was filling the carto battery connector side down, had he already taken off that little plastic cap with the hole in it that is on the end of the carto? I don't understand what that cap is for since it looks like you just take it off. It is to be removed before you put on your drip tip right? I'm confused!

Rhapsodies Fire - What a pretty user name and avatar! :) Hi Lisa! I'm Kim! It's nice to meet you too! There are so many nice people on here that I really feel welcomed into the community! I really appreciate you for telling me to expect a learning curve and not to get discouraged in the beginning! If I have any problems I will certainly come to you all for help!!! Thank you and Happy New Year! :)

Yes, you take the round white cap with the hole in the middle off. It is only there for when or if you don't have a drip tip. I've heard of some people that fill their cartos from the mouthpiece/drip tip end but that just doesn't make much sense to me. I always use the condom method by putting the connector end in the condom of juice.

Edit: Oh BTW, I'm Terry. Nice to meet you Kim.

You're welcome, Kim :) There is much to learn....and the hold the smokes have on us can really interfere with the learning process. I am the poster child for that....if it wasn't easy, I wasn't interested. Now that I'm on the other side of it...I can't believe how easy it really was. I just wish I could have given it more of a chance when I started. :) And I certainly wish we could have bought these in the beginning instead of spending thousands on setup after setup after setup. I look forward to hearing about your progress, Kim! :)

tmcase - Hi Terry! It's nice to meet you too!! :) I really appreciate your answers! I finally understand now what that round white cap is for!!! I won't be needing it because the cool drip tips are part of the fun! :) I'm getting a couple of plain black ones for free but I had to purchase this one!! drip_tip_metal.jpg I can't wait to try vaping on something metal! Maybe it's just me! lol I'm going to do what you do and the guy did in the video about putting the connector end of the carto in the condom. I'm glad that I found out about that way! Thank you!!!

Rhapsodies Fire - Hi!!! I am a poster child for "if it isn't easy, I'm not interested" too so I appreciate your advice to stick it out!! :) The reason I'm starting with a Reo is because I felt that if I bought a setup that wasn't that good then I wouldn't get the best experience with vaping and not end up liking it, so I wanted to give myself the best chance of liking it! I have a lot of money riding on the gamble that I'll like it! I think I will because so many of you ex-smokers do, and if you all do I think I'll like it too! :) *There's another post for you too farther down!

Those look like really cool drip tips. Wait til you try the glass ones. They are very expensive but so nice and smooth and don't add any extra unwanted flavor. You'll probably catch the drip tip virus also. :p

Ya...seriously...if it wasn't for my husband who just wouldn't give up, I would not be vaping. I'd be smoking. This is my second New Years without smoking! One more year I don't have to waste my time on that silly resolution I never intended to keep. :) By the way...Happy New Year!
