Just a question for you SR Stardust users....

What voltage do you like best??

I'm likin' 4-4.4v mostly. Only runnin' the 2 I have with DIY Menthol and DIY Vanilla.

Anyone know if these SD's are in fact made outta Polycarbonate or not?

I ask 'cause a pair of 300+dollar work glasses I had, were made out of it and
sitting on the hot dashboard in the car all summer(the optician said this can "sometimes" happen)
caused them to crack up terribly. They didn't actually "break" but there was crack on top of crack, on top of...
you get the idea.

Can't see outta them they got so bad.

Why are they using PC(poly....) in these if heat has such a bad affect on it?
(If they are...and if it does?)

I'm not overheating 'em too bad by chainin' like crazy, not just yet anyway.

Cheers Hitme:vapor::vapor:

Update:

The wick from vaporgeek isn't working for me. It just doesn't wick enough liquid to do the job. Even less viscous juices don't wick well.

What I did is bought a kerosene heater replacement wick from Canadian Tire. The top 2 inches of this is fiberglass wick material. This stuff works great. Hopefully it has a good life; Seems to hold up so far.

In this video, Estarra uses what looks like much better wire.
Gotvapes Stardust: Changing the Wick & Coil - YouTube

Wire is from here:
ebay wire

This wire looks much nicer because it's thicker while having less ohm/mm. So, more wraps and less total resistance.

vaporgeek wire: .098 ohm/mm | 2.0 ohm = 20.41mm
kanthal A-1 34g ebay wire: .0698 ohm/mm | 2.0 ohm = 28.65mm

For now, the vaporgeek wire WORKS, which is good. I'm going to buy some of the ebay wire though, because I want to get more wraps while hitting around 2.0 ohm.

Currently sitting at 2.5 ohm and vapour/flavour is decent; Much better than stock!

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Here's a good tip: Woven fibreglass cloth (E-Glass) is cheap and easily taken apart for wick material. Canadian Tire has small packages of it in their auto-body section for under 5 bucks. If you are really fussy you can get what is called S-Glass cloth that has even higher heat tolerance but is a bit pricier. Any decent auto parts store will have both. A small piece should last a lifetime.

Edit: Make sure to "break in" the Stardust for a few hours before going above 4 volts. It will increase it's life and performance a lot.

There is a thread in the new members forum < Gotvapes Flux Nectar e-juice shattered my stardust tanks >

and there is a thread for juices that crack clear plastic (polycarbonate?) tanks. < Let's make a list of juices/flavors that crack tanks, ce2's/clearos... >

I can't get these titles to link so you will have to copy and search if you are interested.

Keep your wick wet!

You take the goal, I'll settle for the assist.

Thanks very much.
Where would Gretzky have been without Kurri, Messier and Tikkanen? Or Semenko for that matter, eh?

Cheers buddy, but I just put a frame around your hard work. The credit is all yours my friend. :toast:

Great idea. If this wick I bought doesn't work out, I'll check that out for sure.

Also have an electrical supply store looking into ordering some nichrome/Kanthal wire on Monday.

Saw this on Crappy Tire as well:

Edit - Not really worth it, fiberglass all over the place :|

This is a wood stove gasket, which would probably work great. $10 for 5-6 feet is a pretty good price..wish I saw it before buying the other stuff lol.

Well finaly broke down and fired up a stardust these things are great just have to remember to lay the Mod down once and a while to allow it to wick. I have a habit of leaving my Mods standing up as well as vapeing with very little tilt on it so after a cpl dry hits (completely my fault) I am starting to clue in. Tons of vape and a nice clean taste exactly what I love.

also curious on what people do after vapeing a few tanks and you get that thicker gooier amount left do most people just top off or dump the thicker juice ? If not changeing flavors just wondering

Two out of my 3 Vision Stardust Tanks have small cracks; my e-liquid now seeps out.

The inner working parts are fine!

Anyone know if and where the plastic tanks can be purchased separately?

I really love the Vision Stardust Clearo-mizers, but once the tank is cracked they cannot be used practically because of the fast rate of the juice leaking out.

Any ideas about how to repair the cracked tanks?

Agreed, I dump the e-liquid in the bottom of any carto if it's not the original e-liquid's color anymore.

As for where to get heating coil wire, I got some off of ebay when I first started making atomizers. But then one day in a hobby shop I spotted replacement foam-cutting wire... bingo, nichrome wire. The one I got says Woodland Scenics Foam Cutter Replacement Wire. part number ST1436. Was $3.29 for 4ft. Here, I just found this link Train Sub-Terrain:Woodland Scenics Hot Wire Replacement Wire 4' ST1436
