Starter Kit recommendation With A Focus On Long Battery Life

Hello everyone. I decided to take the plunge and try and kick the habit. I smoke a pack day of camel lights. Below is the pertinent information:

  • Design is not an issue
  • Wanted to stay below 100 dollars for now.
  • I am looking for a easy to use device right now that has a long lasting battery. I am out of the house for 12 hours a day but will have access to usb charging. I am overwhelmed with the amount of devices available. Could I get some starter kit recommendations.

From what I have heard from other vapers you might want to invest in either a 510 ego or a standard 510 with additional 510 mega batteries. I have heard that the egos long life battery lets you vape all day. also the 510 mega batteries also have a longer life but less so than the ego. However, if you wish to get a 510 with additional mega batteries I suggest that you get an actual Joye 510 kit as the genuine Joye mega batteries are not compatible with the FS 510 charger. In case you are wondering, the Joye 510 mega batteries are longer and have a higher voltage which will give you a warmer and more realistic vaping experience. That means tobacco flavored e juice will taste more like tobacco. The Joye 510 kit is only $44.99 at mypvpshop.com.

I just purchased a GoGo starter kit for $60.00. It's becoming a very popular PV on this forum. Only two suppliers are carrying them right now, Nhaler and CigEasy. The kit comes with 2 batteries, and the charger. If you buy from CigEasy you can get 5 pre filled cartos with your choice of juice ( or you can opt for blank cartos if you prefer), and you'll get a bottle of 24mg nic juice thrown in. Not sure what comes in the Nhaler kit. The cartomizers take approx 3ml of juice, so depending on your vaping habits one or two cartos will last you all day. The bats are 1300 mah, and that should easily last you all day long, plus some. I'm really enjoying the simplicity of it, as well as the longevity. From what I understand the iGo is very similar, and is getting good reviews here. I'm sure there are more, but my personal experience with the GoGo is very positive.

Press 20% off in upper left of front page first soe the prices will be shown 20% lower

Riva 510 Lite Bundle or the Riva 510 Cartomizer Bundle
or
Ego

But if you can't carry 2 batteries with you then look elsewhere for a kit with with big 1100mah batteries instead.

And get juice and I recommend you have a couple of atomizers, a drip tip, and Boge cartomizers. The LR attys and cartos are a hotter hit and use battery charge faster

This right here, the Riva light kit runs about 30USD + shipping, all you need is juice. It's 510, so easy to find replacement parts (compared to some that are only sold by a couple vendors and they're not always in stock). A good upgrade path for when you're ready to go bigger/better, and solid performance. There are better, but the price and performance make this a great starter kit.

If you get a riva/ego type, spend the couple bucks and get a spare charger. This way you can keep one at work and one at home. The batteries last most people a day to day and a half, but if it runs out at work easy to slap back on the charger.

I'm not going to say no to the go-go. In fact, it might be for you. However, you need to be aware that the go-go is a proprietary device. Only a couple vendors carry it and there can be availability issues. You'll be spending more to start as well.

The go-go is designed to be a troublefree all day vape, it's proponents swear that's true, and I have no reason to doubt them. However, starting out, you don't have a clue what you should be vaping all day. You can pull the stuffing out of a go-go carto and use it to sample juice flavors but, that's not going to tell you whether the nic level works for you. In my case it took weeks to get to the point that I could confidently put 3ml of juice in a cart and be sure it wouldn't feel like too much or too little.

Now the go-go guys hate it when I say to do this but, they have other kits lying around and they aren't new to this. Go to cigeasy. On the go-go page there's a go-go to 808 adapter available. Get one of those, get a 901 atomizer, a 510/901 drip tip, and a couple boxes of 808 cartos. You can use the adapter with the 901 atomizer and drip tip to sample juices for flavor. Then run the juice in the 808 cartos for a few days to make sure it neither has you sucking on it like a fiend from not enough nic or dizzy and nauseous from too much nic. Then you can start using it in the go-go cartos.

One I think would best fit your requirements at a good price. I would also get the discounted cartomizers they are much more convenient than atty and cart.

eGo 1100 mAh 2 battery kit
E-Power From Smok Tech and HECS
I agree the eGo 1100 mAh 2 battery kit is the best buy and the best kit for the money. All 510 products will work on it, UNLIKE the Go Go, 510 products will not work on the Go GO unless you buy a adapter for a 510. The eGo in a great product and will last for a long time. Buy boge atomizers or clearomizers and your in business. Also, just my opinion stay away from buying the eGo-T atomizers and tanks they are not worth the price and you can buy a box of 5 of any other type of atomizers for less that what it will cost you for (1) T atty.

Still a noob, but I would follow dormouse and/or mustangsallie. Sounds like your main concern is a battery for all day. The ones they mention would do the trick and both are 510 threads, giving you maximum flexibility.

As far as the juice goes (at least as important as your hardware decision), you'll find you need to go on your own journey of trial and error. It is just so subjective.

Have a look at the E-Power battery kit. It's more like a Mod in that it is modular...you can change the battery and parts.
Smoktech Newest E-Cig E Power / E-Cigarettes / Ego Series

Many US vendors carry these, a google search will get you shopping.

If you spend a lot of time at a computer...a great intro to vaping would be an eGo USB passthrough. It has a 650mah battery built in, should last a good 4 to 6 hours. The charger is built into the battery, just plug in a USB cord. You can use the battery while it charges. You can get one of these for around $25 with the cord and cone.

This way you divert money from a bunch of chargers and stuff to liquids and vaping platforms to try.
ego battery usb passthrough - Google Search

Vaping platforms: Both of the suggestions I made have 510 type threads. For the 510 you have a myrid of options for vaping platforms on these batteries.

Cartomizers: These hold the most juice and are meant to be disposable after a week or two of use. They have the heating coil (atomizer) and filler material or tank/wick in the same piece. They last from 100 to 400 puffs depending on the type and how tightly you pack liquid into them. They can come prefilled with liquid, or you can fill them yourself. Average price on these are from $7 to $12 for a five pack. Note, some of the 'jumbo' models can hold up to 4ml and cost much more. Personally, I'd rather just get the smaller ones and screw on a new cart every once in a while :)

Atomizers: These are just a heating coil with a bridge that holds enough liquid to amount to a single cig (or a little less). You can drip on these as you go using a drip tip and a bottle of juice, keeping the bridge wet for continuious vaping. You can also add a 3rd piece known as a cartridge to the atomizer. These type of cartridges don't hold much juice, and are prone to leaking while in the e-cig if you toss them around much.

Feeders: There are bottom and top fed systems that might appeal to you. Either of these require you to sqeeze a bottle which wets the coils of an atomizer or cartomizer. They range in price from $50 for a WetBox from NHaler, to $150 for a REO Mod. There are also topfed juice feeders from $15 at Notcigs to around $80 at SuperT Mods. The top feeder systems will work with almost any larger tube battery or box mod.

Finally, if you decide to go above $80 for any e-cig kit or variation, do consider going for a Mod of some sort. There is a lot of really beautiful US made stuff out there from $30 to $300. Highly functional peices with non-propitary batteries/swithces/parts.

A typical cartomizer holds 20-30 drops of e-liquid, depending on your vaping habit they can last a very long time. I am a very heavy vaper 4-8 mils a day a carto lasts me about an hour of heavy vaping but can easily last 2-4 hours for a moderate user. They are very easy to fill remove the top plug and drip juice in until they are full, you can either replace the top rubber cap or use a drip tip as a mouthpiece, A drip tip is easier to remove when you have to refill.

The life of a cartomizer isn't as long as atomizer but if you keep them wet and care for them they can last a long time and they are cheaper. The convenience and price make it easily equivalent if not better than using an atomizer.

Thanks for all the suggestions regarding the vaps with a long battery life. My other main concern being a newbie is ease of use. I am leaning towards cartomizers and refilling them. Are they hard to refill and how long does a cartomizer last?

Cartomizers come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Polyfill types: These have a coil at the bottom with filler packed in on top of them. You can pull off the tip and drip in fluid, you can use a hypo syringe to inject fluid in (my favorite way), or you can use what is called the 'condom fill' method. All are easy.

Dripper types: These use polyfill, but will include a drip tip instead of the usual plug type tip. Joy makes one that cost about $4, and isn't a bad deal to get a carto to try and have a nice drip tip that you can use with any other carto/atty you like.

Wicked types: CE2 and Vortex have no filler in them. Instead they have wicks suspended in a tank of fluid. The CE2 type requires a syringe to fill. The Vortex does not...Vortex is really easy to fill with no tools, but some people report they are bad about leaking. For traveling...if you try these, I'd recommend avoiding the clear CE2 type for now. Go for the ones with metal cases. These are my personal favorites.

Mega Cartomizers: There are a few jumbo/mega types of cartos that will fit a 510 battery, and even more if you use an adapter. These tend to get pretty expensive but they do hold a lot of juice.

I'm the guy that provided the info go-go but, I think an e-power, Riva, or eGo would also be an excellent choice.

I'd recommend the Boge 510 cartomizer. The white cap pulls off with a spring from a binder clip or bent paper clip easily. Drip juice down the side with it tilted at about a 45 degree angle. Turn it to get the juice going to different parts of the filler as you are filling. Do it slowly and make sure it's soaking in. It should take 18 to 20 drops. Unless it's a mega cart, it won't take anything like 30. I like to let it sit for a few hours after filling. When you go to use it. Blow through the mouthpiece briefly with a paper towel over the battery end to get rid of any excess. While you are using it, top it off with 5 or 6 drops every few hours to keep it moist. Eventually, it's going to burn out or start tasting bad. Then it's time for a new carto.

Depends on the carto and juice you use. The thicker and more colored the juice the faster they go in my experience. If you get a mostly PG based juice that is clearer in color they can last weeks. But you have to keep them wet.

I start by filling a new one with a blunt tip syringe and then drip to refill.

I swear (as do many others) by the Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers. These are usually 510 and go nicely with a Riva 510 or eGo. Liberty-flights has the cheapest prices I've found.
