Starting to get it - needing more though. Want a better Vaping experience but not too techy.

No desire to go back to smoking but the shine has worn off a bit for me with vaping. I have settled on a few juices I like but am craving more oomph. First - can someone recommend a really good menthol please? Not one with a tobacco flavor - just a nice strong menthol. I moved up from a simple V2 to an Elite 808 ELITE 808 BATTERY snd while at first I was pretty pleased I now am not feeling really satisfied. I was looking at the Volt extra big battery - which of course will not be compatible with my current cartos. Will it be better than what I already have?

As to "getting it" - I am starting to get when the ecig is not hitting right that the bat is either running low, the carto is low on juice, or the carto is old and done for refills etc. I also get that the ratio of PG/VG makes a difference.

So what do you think?

This is purely opinion:
I'd personally get anything that is 510 threaded. You'll get the most options for post-purchase add-ons that can be used on other 510s you may find yourself purchasing later (like you are now).

Volt: I'm not exactly sure what threading it is, but I'm fairly certain it's 808D-1, so your cartos should work with it. I'm sure someone with more experience with the brand can help out with accessories and compatibility issues.

Menthol: I just got 2 in from jugheads, but they're both mixed flavours. vanilla/cherry and menth. They're both a pleasant vape, but aren't solo menthol.

Try ProThol from vaporcaststore.com - it's a good strong menthol juice. They also sell ProSauce (menthol drops) that you can add to other juices.

There are plenty of 808 lovers here on ECF, but I have no experience with them. I believe the Volt X2 is an ego style battery with an 808 connection. The battery life would be greatly improved over what you are currently using. I went with a 510 connection (ego twist, bolt mod, passthrough) because it's more widely available and the cartos, atties, etc are usually cheaper. You aren't married to one vendor, you can follow the sales.

The Volt X2 (the extra large battery) is 808 threaded and will take 808 cartos. Good battery, get the 650 to try it, if you're looking to go that route. Carry cases for the X2's hit their site (Smokeless Image) tomorrow. Smokeless Image has a lot of accessories for their Volt batteries. However, if you are so inclined, some vendors sell an 808 to 510 adapter (808 battery to use 510 carts, tanks, etc.). Works well enough. With a good adapter, no reason to worry for which system you tried. Got mine from GotVapes fairly inexpensively.

As for a good strong menthol, well, I'm at a loss there. I have been getting the Smokeless Image Ice Menthol. I like its flavor well enough, and I really can't taste any tobacco flavor in it. They also have a Menthol Burst (which more reminds me of Hall's mentholytus cough drops) but it isn't all that strong, and they have Mint, which is kind of like a lifesavers peppermint candy. Or maybe it's spearmint. hm. It's mint. Anyway, liquids require quite a bit of exploration, as there are so many vendors with so many flavors available. Test samples before committing to any larger bottles.

Half the fun of vaping is the exploration. Eventually, you may settle into a comfortable groove, but that comfort zone is different for everyone.

No matter what, staying away from the tobacco cigarettes is what counts in the end. Good luck with your vaping adventures!

For menthol, Digitalciggz has a juice called menthol freeze (I think that's what it's called). It's pretty much the best straight menthol I've ever had. Slightly sweet, super methol...y.

As far as moving up to a better device, I would suggest the Silver Bullet. It's legendary for a reason, and if you want to keep your 808 cartos, just get a 510 to 808 adapter for 2 bucks. You might look into vari-volt stuff down the road, but the SB is my favorite device, even though it's pretty big.

Try Alien Visions' menthol drops. They're typically used as an additive to other juices to give you that extra menthol kick, but you could just put a couple drops into an unflavored DIY nicotine base for a pure menthol liquid without the tobacco. Many vendors carry DIY base liquids online.

PG/VG ratios matter most with wicking, but if you're want that little bit extra smoke "feel" maybe try using juices with a higher PG ratio for added throat hit. You'll be sacrificing some of the vapor density from VG, though.

And 510-threaded hardware does give you way more options.

I got the Espresso Shot with vanilla from ECBlendflavors.com for my coffee fix. And it is quite a fix. I order several bottles at a time. I could never find a coffee I liked until I tried a sample of the Espresso Shot. I didn't like V2's, SI's, or any others until then. Again, liquids are an individual choice. I get all my batteries and accessories from Smokeless Image, but they admit they are more into the starting hardware side of things to help the new folks, so they don't discourage trying others' liquids. I happen to like a few of Smokeless Images liquids a lot, though, too, and keep them on hand.

Anyway, I'm a Volt fan, obviously, so I'll always be recommending the 808 (which I prefer over 510's for ease) and always the Volt from Smokeless Image, as they are the ones that finally got me off the tobacco cigarettes. No other affiliation.

Thanks guys - so I know what I have now. That's good :p I will look into your suggestions. Any advice on coffee flavors? So far nothing I have tried has been as good as the prefilled cof cartos I got from V2.

Backwoods brew Espresso and Cappuccino are excellent. Caramel Cap is good too, but on the sweeter side.

I've never done it but I've read in the DIY section you can get pure menthol crystals from any pharmacy and let them soak in PG to make your own menthol flavoring. I bought the pre mixed flavoring from Perfume/Flavor Apprentice and adding a few drops to a nic base tastes as good or better than any premade menthols I've tried. DIY makes it so inexpensive for a very simple flavoring. It also will fix any mediocre premade juices to make them vapable.

I like SI's menthol, mint, and cappuccino flavors. I was a menthol smoker but since getting off the analogs I have found that I prefer the minty flavors to actual menthol. Cignot has a good coffee flavor juice, I used it to refill my cappuccino cartos from SI and it was excellent.

The absolute best minty/menthol flavor I have had has been a custom spearmint juice from myvapecreations. It was very reasonably priced and I loved that I got to specify the ratios....pg/vg, sweetness level, cooling effect, menthol, etc.

I used to think the same thing about large devices when I started years ago. But there is an 80% chance you'll end up with something like that sooner or later if you really get into vaping :)

You might also like the joyetech ego 18650 mod. It's the same type of device as a silver bullet, but a little smaller. Since it's mass produced, it's only 20 bucks on most sites, just gotta get your own batts for it and charger. I got two yesterday and really like em.

I had started with some johnson's creek menthol when I started vaping about 4 months ago. I thought it was great, but pretty pricey (first flavors were menthol and peach Johnson's Creek). Then searched around and found some different sites and different recommendations on here, and ended up with some juice from halocigs.com. Tried some Malibu thinking that, though I don't care for pina colada, that a bit of it with the menthol might be nice. Ehhhh...not so much. Strong strong pina colada, little menthol with my Boge Leo (first ecig). But the vapor was great and extremely smooth. Found mixing it with other flavors was nice. So I went back to try some straight menthol of theirs: Menthol Ice. Hit the spot. I really dug it, and have gone back for another bottle. Have some backwoods brew menthol coming soon and have heard good things. I'll let ya know how it is =P

As far as the cig itself, I'd have to second the 510 option. There are a ton of options for the cig itself, and even more for what you can attach to it. Being the most common, it also seems like it'd be the easiest to get on a whim. I started with my Boge Leo and thought it was awesome, though it is proprietary (not 510). My cousin picked up the Innokin Leo shortly after and though I liked it, it just wasn't the same. + over at Ecigarsenal.com, you can get the boge leo kit wicked cheap with 2x batteries and grab a 510 adapter from a few sites.
