One of Idaho's premiere health agencies is enforcing a new policy that says, 'No' to tobacco right from the start.
"If you use nicotine you don't need to work at the Central District Health Department," CDHD spokesman Dave Fotsch said.

It is appalling that so many people in the health field don't keep up with the research. Nicotine does not cause cancer, heart attacks, strokes, or lung disease. To paraphrase an old political slogan, "It's the smoke, stupid."

Sadly we have people here in our formerly free state that want to make us into the next California. Idiocy abounds. BoiseMike, it's too bad that Californians are ruining what we used to think of as a reasonable state.

In fact, my wife and I were looking to retire there when the time comes. And we're the kind of folks any state would like, since we'd pay lots of taxes and make almost no demands for municipal and education services.

But this kind of willful idiocy -- among reports of many others we're starting to hear about Idaho -- is encouraging us to look elsewhere.

Yes, I know. I do paint with a broad brush sometimes. My wife goes to Bakersfield, CA on business every year and tells me that they're so conservative that it make ID look left-wing. Sadly though, it's the extremists on both sides that get all the attention.
And mostlyclassics, even though the control freaks are taking over out here at least in Boise's newest smoking ban we did get them to exempt e-cigs after a little education outside of the Council Chambers. They still shafted the smokers and business owners. And when you get away from the "big" cities things lighten up a lot.
