Hey, I am not that old, but I just had a conversation with my neighbor about when they banned smoking in the local mall. She was saying how she moved to New Yrok from Texas, and was walking around the mall with her husband, not even thinking about it. Lit up as they usually did, then noticed how no one else was smoking. Ahh, the good old days, 1992, when they banned smoking in the King of Prussia mall... ironically, the year i started smoking.

I remember the teacher's lounge too. In fact, I was a sophomore or a junior in high school when they shut down the student's smoking section! (that's was the year that I got suspended for smoking on school grounds-my dad punished me for those three days by making me smoke all the way downstairs on the porch instead of upstairs on the nicely appointed balcony)

Hooboy, I feel old and I'm "only" 50! I was a teenager in the 70s and everybody I knew smoked (I started at 16). A group of us went to see a friend who was in the hospital. There we all were, smoking like chimneys right there in the room!

In the early 80's, I worked for a pediatrician. The doctor smoked and so did I and another lady who worked there. In between patients, all of us would light up, right there in the reception area  That office must have stunk something awful, but of course we didn't notice it. Yikes.
