So I've seen a lot of people talking about steeping, the why's and how's, and what the outcome of it is.

I went ahead and just made a video on my opinion about steeping, and the way that I do it. Everyone is different, but to save people a lot of trial and error on how to get the best from DIY this is what I've come to realize... steeping/letting set DOES pay off and it does emulsify when using 2 or more flavors. Even with a single flavor, steeping does make the flavor more intense, as well as the TH and Vapor being a bit better. Got a flavor that seems a bit wrong? Give steeping a try.

Note: I've noticed with a bit of citrus flavors, they don't seem to darken all too much.

Well there are some juices that can't be helped. No matter how rank or rancid they taste it might just be the supplier or vendor who's mixing them. For example. I received a bottle from a friend who ordered from China. It took 20+ days for her to get it, try it (yuck she says) so she sent a 3mL sample to me, in hopes I could find something to fix it. Mmmm no, some flavors cannot be helped even with steeping, adding other flavors, adding dilutants, or adding sweeteners. I will say this flavor is Cola (which I have tried some other DECENT cola pre-mixes) and this one seems like IDK... frackin GROSS in my books.

It's had more than plenty steep time. So in regards to some of your juices I hope steeping helps, but there are some you'll come across that will see better days in a sink drain, as I will be doing with this Cola, once I get my review up on YT. LOL

GL!! and happy vapin!

steeping, when you allow "set" time for your e-liquids to reach their potential. You can either leave in a cool dark place for a week or 2. or you can open the top for a few hours to 24 hours then re-cap it and let it set for a few days to week or even 2 weeks.

Steeping is great if you find a super bland or low in flavor e-juice or partake in DIY (Do it yourself mixing).

Some pre-mixes are already 5 days to 2 weeks old from the shipping process. But there's quite a few sites that make it, made to order, and don't have the shelf sit time like making it at home too. So I would suggest steeping. If you're still not sure what steeping is, try watching my video, researching it, or doing an ECF search.

You know when you have chili or stew and then eat it the next day and the flavors are just WOW amazing, so much better tasting? THAT is steeping. Giving time for the flavors to emulsify or blend :)

Hope I helped Rykk.

Agree - No need to add anything else. You summed it up quite nicely.

I'll have to give this a try! I got some chocolate that gives a really nice lingering taste in the back of your throat whenever you breathe in, so I couldn't wait to vape it. Mixed some juice with it and it tastes like . . . what did you say? . . . frackin GROSS! LOL! I was so unimpressed. Now - three full carts past it - I can still taste it. Might be psychological now, but . . . wow!

WOW! @ all of you. TY for the great feedback. I have seemed to have grown double my amount of subscribers since I posted this. TY TY TY.

I just added I think 4 new flavor reviews. 1 of which was the Cola I hated so much. My 1st take I had to trash, so I did a 2nd shoot and decided to not even vape the crap... it's happy in the sink. "It all floats down here"

I'm glad you all are enjoying my vids, giving me feedback and asking questions. It pushes me daily to keep the vids coming. Sorry I took a 3 day pause there. I was super sick, but I'm back and trying to get tons of reviews, how to's, informational vids, as well as another mod (but it's giving me issues)

I'll post a new thread in e-liquid reviews with my new stuff. But you can find it on my YT Channel.

Thanks again all!!! KEEP ON VAPIN!

I have been doing all kinds of tests. So far what I'm seeing...

With no nic added:
it doesn't darken a whole lot. flavor does get stronger with just VG (don't have any plain PG left)
when introducing nic to the 100% VG with flavor of ur choice I'm noticing a slower color change difference, but the flavoring is the same. TH seems weaker doing it this process, unless I'm not letting it steep long enough or the process has to be different. I'll keep you posted on the 0 nic process, then introducing nic. Let me get a full week steep and I'll post back. I'm only on day 4.

So I would suggest for now to mix vg/pg, nic and flavoring then steep, until i can get a lot more days and maybe even weeks into what is 100% correct. Cuz I think I just confused myself. LOL

Shan, this is awesome! I had ordered a bottle of my own mix from Gourmet Vapor called Erdbeer-Bowle. When I tried it the first day, I thought I had created a "stinker." I decided to leave it alone for a few days and when I tried it again I loved it! I made the mix public with a suggestion to let it age for a few days before vaping. We'll see if anyone else likes it. Thanks for the video!

From someone new to DIY and still playing around with flavors.. I haven't let my mixes steep before, so had a quesiton or so after watching your video.. If you try a mix and find you like it, after mixing it and want to let it steep as in your example.. How would you keep a decent supply on hand?

If you made enough that you'd vape it in a week, would you put one batch in the closet and then say a week/week and a half put in another one? that way if you take it out after a week and a half you would have another going in to steep? or would you do it some other way? I've made a caramel apple I love (well, not as much as the first time I mixed it, but I'm still playing with strengths of flavors)

Thanks

yes normally at 1st i'll make a 3mL - 5mL mix, test it on day 3 if i'm liking what i've tasted then i go ahead and make a 10mL mix. if by the end of the week i still like that 1st mix i make more, if not then i know to fix the flavoring or play with sweetener. Right now I have about 30 - 40mL of different things steeping. Some I've wound up TOTALLY hating. but to save ur nic and flavors, always start with a SMALL amount before jumping into anything higher than 5mL on ur 1st batch.

I also like having friends who mix and DIY cuz we can always swap things off to try. Like my friend Rach, she'll buy 3 flavorings, I'll buy 3. she gives me half of hers and I give her half of mine. Same goes with DIY, we make batches for each other so we can try different mixes out as well.

I'm usually happy with my steep @ 1 week. But some that don't seem to be all that great I push for 2 weeks to get it to taste better. I've had 2 that were just TOTALLY yuck, but it was cuz of the flavoring itself. I still have yet to find a REAL authentic Cola flavoring, as well as a real authentic chocolate flavoring. but I think I may find my choc this week :)

Caramel Apple is GREAT. So is Apple Jolly Rancher. I like plain as well.

Keep on mixing and vaping! sounds like ur on the right track! :)
