my diy juices steep because I make a lot of them so I don't have to mess with the nic..they do taste better after 2 or more weeks
I have a particular juice from a vendor I've been complaining about (those who have been following me know who I'm talking about) that is so bad it's incredible. It's a spearmint but it tastes like I got just the spearmint flavor extract instead of mixed juice. It tastes like Vicks and burns the nose something harsh on exhaling. Twice already I've had to dump and wash the tank because of it. I even tried mixing a little bit of it with another flavor and it made THAT flavor too harsh and I had to dump that too. I'm considering trying steeping it but I'm afraid if it doesn't work, then I'll have to go through the entire process again of dumping and cleaning. My other option is just to toss it and that's the direction I'm leaning toward. I suspect some juices are just bad juices and no amount of steeping will help.
The way I figure it, the vendor is selling a product that's suppose to be a finished project. If the vendor has time, the vendor should steep it for you.
If the dang blasted juice is that complicated that it needs to be steeped, then steep it before you sell it and stop being CHEAP about it. I've never bought a bottle of whiskey and had to age it in a barrel myself.

This ain't whiskey.
Ok, say a vendor offers nicotine levels in,
0ml
6mg
12mg
18mg
24mg
They offer PG/VG in,
70PG/30VG
50PG/50PG
30PG/70PG
100% VG
They offer bottle sizes in,
7.5ml
15ml
30ml
60ml
They offer sweetener,
Yes
No
They offer added mint/menthol in,
Light
medium
heavy
There are 18 choices here. Some vendors offer even more, but let's stick with 18. How many possible combinations are there? I'll let you do the math. It's ok, I'll wait.![]()
Now, do you really expect vendors to have that many variations for every flavor they carry bottled up, sitting around aging for two weeks before it can even be shipped? Seriously?
If you only want to buy premixed, ready made, off the shelf e-liquid with your only choice being the size of the bottle and possibly a couple of different nicotine levels, that's perfectly fine, but you won't find much to choose from.
If people weren't able to customize their e-liquid to what they like and what they need to get off cigarettes, most of us would still be smoking.

Well I will just have to agree to disagree with you, sir. When I go to McDonald's, I buy a coke and drink the coke. I expect the coke to be pre-blended and ready to drink. If I'm on a diet or something, I may look at their chart and see the coke's properties so that I know what I'm drinking, but usually I will just start drinking, believing that I've been sold a product that is ready to drink. Thankfully I am an intelligent person who has the sense to come into a place like this and ASK. That is what I'm doing right now, sir, after all, educating myself. You seem to be annoyed that I'm educating myself and saying instead of educating myself THIS way I should just go educate myself. Huh? I would suggest MOST people, when they buy a juice, expect a juice and don't expect to have to wade through hours and hours of internet searches to find out what's wrong with their juice and how to fix it. I've heard now that vendors do supply this information but I've purchased from at least five of them so far and have not seen it once. You can't expect everyone to have as much free time as I do, to sit here for hours researching and asking questions to figure out how to use their juice. I've had a tank corrode and I've had juices that taste like crap. I'm suppose to waste dollar after dollar after dollar until I'm finally enough of an expert at it to know what to do? No, sir. I'm the consumer. I'm PAYING hard earned dollars for a product. I expect to be able to use that product without jumping through a bunch of hoops. If the dang blasted juice is that complicated that it needs to be steeped, then steep it before you sell it and stop being CHEAP about it. First off, I never indicated nor implied that you aren't intelligent. The point I was trying to make that just seemed to get lost in some way in translation is that MOST vendors that create juices to order have on their site that these juices need to be steeped, however the better terminology would be "Aged", also SIR, you had taken my analogy of how that works when I referenced making a pasta sauce, I was trying to point out that just because you put all the ingredients into the pot, it would not taste like it does after it has simmered, I would have thought that would have been a simple enough analogy to get the point across but apparently I was mistaken.
It's take a matter of minutes to read what is on the vendors site and see if they have make specific recommendations as to how to handle them, if they did not, well they shame on them, if they did and you just didn't bother to read what was there, then shame on you, it happens all the time.
In addition when I made my recommendation about research, I was not meaning to try an go for a degree in chemistry, a simple search on what is steeping and it will come up. If you don't wish to wait for a juice to steep, well that great, just find the ones that have a pre-mixed juice, this is not all that difficult to do.
I am also a consumer and I also make sure I pay attention to whatever vendors site's I go to and educate myself on what they have for advice etc.
As for your last comment, I totally disagree with it, it's not a matter of being cheap, it's a matter of giving more choices, if you wish to purchase a juice that could have been sitting on a shelf for a year, that's your choice, I like my juices made to order and I learned just like almost everyone else here, either by trial and error or by reading the vendors recommendations. Aging a juice is not in anyway jumping through hoops, you seem to want to make more of this then there actually is, I can fully understand wanting to buy and juice that you can vape right away and there are many that can be even if they are freshly made, there are others that do require aging, as with say a wine, whiskey etc. Just be aware of how you present these things.
Everyone has their preferences, again, it's a matter of doing a little checking, it does in no way require hours upon hours of research, just a few minutes of your time, after all it's you that is going to consume it and if you prefer pre-aged that's great, but don't think that just because it's pre-aged that is going to make it the best choice just as if it's created to order also doesn't guarantee that it's going to be to your liking. A little patience and a LITTLE time spent on getting familiar with a particular vendor goes a long way.
The big issue is that there are far too many people who don't read, comprehend or are just too darn lazy to check things out, the only one to blame at that point is you, but far too often these same people then blame the vendor which is out of line when it was them that didn't do what they should have for themselves!
So SIR with all that stated I wish you luck on finding the juices that you like that are ready made that you find enjoyable.
As with everything in this world, things are very subjective and not everyone is going to agree, you will find people that say aging juice isn't necessary, this is not true in a large amount of cases but other times it can be true. There is no one size fits all in this are just as in every other aspect of life and to expect this is something that just isn't in the realm of possibility.
600 choices.
OK, this is the THIRD time that you are insisting that vendors supply that information, so here are links to four of the vendors that I have used. Please show me where they supply that information. I'm linking directly to the Alien Vape Spearmint page particularly because that's the juice that corroded my tank and that tastes like CRAP. Please, do show me where they are supplying the information that, according to you, I'm not paying attention to.

I don't use those vendors, and if as I stated, if they don't provide the information you seek, go elsewhere, this is not rocket science, I always check the vendors information on their juices and if I don't see what i need to know I move on. I don't go to those vendors I spent many hours before looking for juice vendors that had info and juices I could enjoy. You seem to not want to accept the fact that I am speaking in general terms and not on YOUR specific vendors that you have visited, I don't have a crystal ball or had a keylogger program on your system to where you go and what you do! Geeez. If the information is not available as I had stated quite a bit, move on! I am not in anyway attacking YOU, must making logical and what should be obvious recommendations., You win, SIR, fight all you wish and don't take what was meant to be helpful advice to begin with. I am not hear to troll, control or dictate, I was trying to make what I would have thought would be logical and rational suggestions as to what to look for and if your not getting the information you need move on to a place you will get the information. Ok, again, I was speaking in general and providing insight of what many here have had to go through, if you wish to be contentious with the recommendations being provided and take them as a personal affront, well that again is on you. Sorry your taking it that way. This again is not rocket science! And btw, don't put word in my mouth, I never said you weren't paying attention, I was stating to look for the info and if it's not there move on! Which is what I am not doing from this thread, tired of beating my head against the wall.
Seriously, dude, most of your posts are more whining and complaining than anything else![]()

Let's go over a few commonly repeated phrases:
1. New Vaper
2. Learning curve
3. Taste buds repairing themselves
4. Listen to the veteran vapers
5. Read the vendor's reviews
6. Look before you leap.
Everything the OP is complaining about can be explained or advice given on threads just in the past few months.
If you can find that vendor and juice right out of the chute from disposables, more power to you, but it's not likely going to happen. Your taste buds are going to go through some major changes, maybe as long as 8 months after you quit smoking. You're still trying to settle in with a nic level, PG/VG ratio, non-organic or organic, flavor shots, etc., etc. All of those can change the same exact flavor extract into something else. And what about your PV, your delivery device?
Wine is aged, beef is aged, cheese is aged............WHY? Figure out the answer and you'll know why people steep. If your vendor is customer conscious, they will say the juice needs to be steeped. People with half dead taste buds may think it's just great straight out of the mail. Mt. Baker hits that population, their juice tastes like what you expect it to taste like out of the bottle. Some of their crazier named juices may not, but they fill a need, and many stick with them. But dead taste buds or not, Mt. Bakers usually fits the bill 90% of the time.
Haven't you read anywhere in this forum about buying samples? If you want to blow your money on 30 ml bottles of crap, head on. Don't listen to veterans. Don't bother purchasing samples from the many vendors that offer them. It's YOUR money.
If you want to charge into this like a brain dead bull and not LISTEN to the advice people are giving you, you're going to make a lot of mistakes. This forum is full of people with YEARS of vaping under their belts. Instead of arguing, criticizing or justifying your mistakes and/or ignorance, EDUCATE yourself,
Seriously, dude, most of your posts are more whining and complaining than anything else
PS: For God's sake, put on your Big Boy pants, suck it up, Buttercup!
Okay it looks like wires crossed here. Don't get down about it Dusty I know you're just trying to help. CJ I know you, like me, are an inexperienced vaper. People like Dusty are offering up advice based on their experiences don't knock it. You seem really defensive and I don't know why.
Either way, a bit of chilling is required here. I suggest both Dusty and CJ steep for a couple of weeks at least, then resume the conversation.
Thanks, but as I stated, I am done with the thread, I was actually trying to offer some advise and references of what I had gone through when I first started, I had to learn on my own and researched and I do have a solid background dealing with essential oils, lotions, etc, etc, and juices I also make my own. As they say "You can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink" no amount of advice, recommendations are going to do any good when you are met with disdain and reluctance to take some constructive advise. I don't have the inclination of spitting in the wind in this thread any further. Things are the way they are and if you can't accept it, well, what can you do.
