Looking to see how everyone steeps there juice. Is it still important to steep liquids even when bought online? I feel like it isn't cause doesn't the steeping process start once the juice is made and bottled, there for by the time the juice is shipped to retail and then shipped to you. Shouldn't it be done by the time it gets to you?

Pre-mixed juices are made in large batches, then bottled and sit on a shelf in a warehouse waiting for shipment; therefore these juices don't require steeping.

Custom-mixed juices don't get made until you make your order. These vendors give you options on pg/vg ratio, flavor bumps, added menthol, etc. Depending upon the flavoring agents, these may or may not require some steeping for 1 - 2 weeks after arrival to your home. Complex flavors such as bakery, coffee, and tobacco blends often require the longest steep times for best flavor. 100% vg juices will also need additional steep time as it is not as good of a flavor carrier as pg is. However, once steeped its flavors are as good as a pg/vg ratio IMHO.

I take the bottle cap off overnight when I receive them, recap the next day, and just allow them to sit in a dark cool place for at least a week, shaking the bottle daily if I think about it.

That's not always the case. So many juices are good to go right out of the box but many aren't. Some vendors will put a recommended steep time on the bottles. Less complex mixes like just strawberry or grape won't need much time but often you'll find that your more complex mixes will need more steep time...sometimes a couple of weeks before the flavors are blended together well. I used the plain old take the cap off & daily bottle shaking method. Some juices take a couple of days & some take a week or 2. It varies juice to juice so I'd just test them out every couple of days. After I started finding juices I really liked I just reordered as soon as I could so that by the time I run out the next bottle is good to go. Yep! I got really tired of all that dang shakin:laugh:

When you get your juice, take the cap off and smell it. If it smells good to you, put some in your tank or carto and try it. If it tastes good to you, use it. Otherwise, let it steep. Check it every few days or so to see what you think. It is all about what you are looking for as far as flavor goes. For example, my daughter likes Mt. Baker Vapor's Hawk Sauce right out of the mail, but I have seen others posting that they felt it needed to steep. It's all about what tastes good to you.

This ^^^. I make my own juices and I hardly steep anything. I mix 50 ml bottles to the flavor I like and most don't change enough in the next month so I don't like them anymore. My tobacco recipe is the exception. If I mix that so I like it immediately I dislike it in a couple of weeks, so I mix with the intention of steeping.

Bottom line is if it tastes good to you it doesn't matter is you steeped it or not, you like it.

Being a noob with only 5 weeks into vaping, steep is something I have found out is a must. I haven't ventured into the DIY yet. Although I think heat and shake help. Time seems most important. I have been buying diff juices to find what I like. Found that I like VG so steep time goes up.
So until you have a rotation of steeped juice. Out of the mail on any VG juice doesn't taste good to me.
I have used crock pot on warm with hot tap water. Works good. Then use Robart paint shaker. Then rest cap off for 24/48
Won't try any new juice until color change takes place.

as you can see from the posts, there are as many methods as there are posters.. time. heat. Uc or not to Uc, shake and then more time.. time time time is the most important factor in steeping. It all depends on the flavors used and when it was mixed as to wehther to steep or not steep...

I buy about every 10 days for usage about a month down the road. One day with lid and drip tip off (shake every few hours) and then sit in a drawer until they are brought out to use.

Some need no steeping, some need some, some need more. I have a dripper set up so I can test for flavor. Some people want the steeping to go faster. I don't worry about it.

I DIY, and I am a firm believer in seed steeping. Therefore, I add a new set of ingredients to a partially emptied bottle. It matures faster. If I were still ordering from Mt. Baker, I would probably be doing the same thing.

I just tried a new mix, and after twenty-four hours, it is very good. It may not get a chance to reach full maturity.
