Steeping is pretty much just letting your juices sit for a while. I like storing mine in a drawer away from light but I don't know if you need to. I would make sure you are storing them at room temp though. All juices are different so steep time is different with each one. Some juices are ready to vape as soon as you get them and others need to steep in order for their flavors to come together. The flavor should change the longer you let it steep with most juices.

The number one rule I fallow when it comes to steeping is.......Try the juice as soon as you get it. If you don't like it, DO NOT throw it away thinking you will never like it. Let it sit for a couple weeks and come back to it. You may end up getting a nice surprise. :vapor:

I think everyone has a slight variation to their steeping process, but letting them sit is the gist of it. In general, keep them away from light (sunlight particularly) and keep them in a cool, dry place.

I will usually let them sit like that for about a week after they arrive. Every couple of days, I will open the bottle, squeeze out the air once, let air back in, and squeeze again to smell the liquid. Depending on how agreeable the smell is, I'll try it out. I typically always shake the bottle a bit before I squeeze to let the air out or even to drip into the cartomizer. Don't know if it actually helps, but it's become my little associated habit.

This is weird...because I heard you should yes, shake them but keep them IN the sunlight!! ha..wow...they should really have a tutorial on steeping...mine come great out of the bottle from Altcig for me at least..but some..ugh..smell like cologne or something and I still just leave them ...'hoping' ..they will 'ripen' ? :) good luck to you....Hi Eleanor:)

Hi Lee. :)

I saw that suggestion re: leaving them in sunlight, and was frankly shocked. BAD idea! Light (from any source) rather quickly degrades the nicotine. :(

It is true that you can "hurry up" the steeping process a little by immersing the juice bottle in warm -- not hot -- water for 15 minutes or so; repeat this about 4 times (as the water cools too much). I don't do that because I have such excessively long steep requirements anyway, but I know of others who have successfully used that technique. :)

I don't know much about steeping, but I've left a bunch of bottles of juice with the top off all around my room. It can get kinda sunny in here, but usually they aren't exposed to direct sunlight. Should I be keeping their lids on and just put them in a cabinet or something instead? I'm trying to extra steep the flavors I didn't like.

The lids off don't help juice steep. Leave them off long enough and you will lose some nic. strength. Mad Vapes did a test. Not a huge amount.

Juices are generally good for a couple of years.

Steeping juice is a lot like making spaghetti. It's always better after the base and the flavorings have time to mix.

If juice is good on day one, vape it. If not, let it sit for a week or so and try it periodically. I've never resorted to hot water, but it makes sense. Mixing occurs at the molecular level, so heating would make that occur faster.

I like to try all my juices the day they come in and if they don't taste quite right to me or lacking flavor, I'll take the cap off and put it on the top shelf in my closet with the door closed for 24 hours. Next day I'll put the cap back on and shake excessively then let sit for another 6 or 7 days shaking vigorously every other day for about 45 seconds. If the juice still isn't to your liking try letting it sit for another couple days and try again. I find after two weeks if the flavor isn't there for you it most likely will never be to your liking.

I then try to pawn them off on my vaping buddies for juice they have that I like!

I believe that the habit some have of leaving the top off for the first 24 hours arose from the need/desire to let the ethyl alcohol (which some vendors use as part of their base, to dissolve flavors) evaporate off. That "boozy" taste/odor can be really off-putting, and "airing it out" seems to be the only way to rid the juice of that smell/flavor.

AFAIK, most vendors do not use ethyl alcohol in their base.

I have a juice by liqua "turkish tobacco" I hate it I'm pretty sure it has been sitting for some time since the gal that sold it to me imports them not so periodically, anyway it expires on 2014... I'm going to try shacking it, and opening the cap for a day and see if it grows if it doesnt I'll see what to do with it sadly my vaping friends just buy carts and avoid the hassle of fill their own
