So much has been going on here...this is very hard for me to share...
I took Steve to the hospital Saturday night, chest pain and couldn't breathe, the severity came on pretty fast tho he's been "really tired" and thought he had "pulled something in his chest".
Seems he has pneumonia, bad & has severe sepsis.
They inserted a central line into a vein to his heart for antibiotics, IV's for various things, catheterized him and put him in ICU.
The wanted to stabilize him before trying to drain his lung, if they couldn't, they would be putting him on life support.
They ended up intubating him during the night and putting him on a ventilator 'cause the CPAP mask wasn't enough for him to breathe.
Yesterday morning they did a look inside his lung and took a sample and were also able to drain some fluid from his lung.
Still intubated...sepsis odds are 50/50.
This morning they are going to either try inserting a chest tube with suction for draining or some sort of surgery. I am waiting to hear.
He is still on the ventilator.
No word on the sepsis.
I just can't believe this.
