try getting a PV with a longer bat life and like you said you might need stronger juice, what type of juice are you currently using and what is the nic level, are you using an atty w/carts or cartos and have you tryed dripping, the higher the nic level the more TH youll get and that for heavy smokers seems to be a "key" in there able to quit analogs. also what PG/VG ratio are you using in your juice (if you know)

I've posted this before but if you want the truth here it is:
First I want to say congratulations. I was just like you in the beginning for the first week and a half of quitting smoking. I realized I was under the impression that I think so many people new to vaping are under. The impression is that I would quit smoking and start vaping and it would be as if nothing had changed. Well, as you probably have figured out that isn't the case. Well, what does this mean? It means that a sacrifice has to be made.(I was so ...... when I figured that out.) The good news is that vaping is the smallest sacrifice I've found to quit smoking. It's hard! Some days it's really hard! There are days when none of the juice I have will curb the craving to have a cigarette. The only thing that stands in the way of me having a cigarette are my family and my desire to stop smoking. And in hindsight I'm glad it's hard. If it wasn't I would take the little time that I have for granted. Some may call me a hypocrite considering that I've only been smoke free for a little over two months, but I've been through the addiction ringer before. I'm not bragging but I am proud that I haven't had a drug or drink in over eight years! I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but candy coating it won't save your life. That is what's at stake after all. I think what you're asking all of us to do is find a reason that is good enough for you to quit, I can't do that and wouldn't dare take that away from you. You have to want to quit for yourself. Find the strength to not pick up a cigarette. Remember your desire to stop smoking is a promise that you make to yourself and if you can't keep promise to yourself who can you keep a promise to? Congratulations what you have accomplished is nothing short of a miracle. I know you can do it. You just have to believe that yourself.

If the juices you are using don't satisfy your soul, try some other juices. For the first 2 months I could not vape fruity/foody juices without getting a craving for an analog. So I only vaped tobacco ejuices and I tried a lot to find ones that felt and smelled good.

If your hardware is not delivering enough hit, maybe consider stepping up to an Ego (510 with fat battery and different charger) - on that you can use a wider range of attys including LR (low resistance) ones that may give a bigger hit.

And if you just like your cigarettes a bit better, how about instead buying a brand you hate. That may give you a a bit more encouragement to go to the e-cigarette first.

I'm wondering what nicotine level you're using also. If it isn't at least 18-24mg, you're probably not even coming close to what you need to keep the cravings down. I smoked 1.5-2 PAD and used 24mg all day, but I used 36mg for the strong craving times.

Also, don't lose track of the fact that you are smoking less than half of what you used to. Each of us has our own pace through the quitting process. Some get their first kit and never touch another cigarette; others it's within a few days. It took me over three months to finally reach that point. I pretty much worked on giving up one cigarette at a time because I didn't want to have that "quitting smoking" feeling.

But, I didn't even attempt trying to completely quit until I knew I had exactly the right equipment, juices, and hardware. So, that's going to be my main suggestion: Don't worry about going for that zero cigarette day until you know that what you have to replace them is going to satisfy you. You'll know you've got it all when you are vaping a flavor of juice that you just can't seem to put down, you're secure knowing the batteries and hardware will keep you vaping that juice you love so much, and you have a plentiful supply of juice.

So, congratulations on cutting your smoking back as far as you have at this point. Vaping is working for you. If you want it to work better, then narrow down what it is that you feel is missing. Do you need more battery life? A 510 may be a little small for a heavy smoker unless you've got lots of extra batteries. Higher nicotine levels? Well, you've already mentioned you need stronger juices. Have you tried all of the different methods of vaping (dripping, cartomizers, carts, etc...) to find out what you are most comfortable with? Just remember, you're not required to do it all in one day or even a week. Do it at your pace.

Think back to your the first cup of coffee, first beer, first alcoholic drink, first cigarette, was it a "Wow! That's Great!!!" moment, or did you find it confusing that so many people consumed these things. The taste, feel, weight of the cigarette, the texture of the paper, how it lights, etc... are all part of the experience and ritual of smoking. For the first couple of weeks, i didn't restrict my analog smoking, but as I vaped more, and began to appreciate the qualities and subtleties, the vaping ritual replaced the analog ritual. habits take about three weeks to form. Don't kill yourself out of the gate. After a week of vaping without smoking, I had an analog , and found the taste very bitter and toxic. I had to remind my body a couple more times, before I convinced my body that smoking wasn't all that. Sounds like your already on the path, keep at it.

From reading through this site daily, I have no clue why this works for some completely and not for others. I have no clue why some get their PV and never smoke again and why some others still smoke. I think it is a mystery that we will never solve.

I think if you are down to a pack a day, you have made progress. I would just keep on pushing through. If your goal is not to smoke keep on pushing. Any day is another day to start all over again. Today you are down a pack, tomorrow make it 19. Whatever works for you! Just keep with it. Eventually from what I have read on this forum, one day it will just work.

I really like the e cig that just plugs into the wall, always a good hit and use it when i get home and really trying to stop smoking the cigs. thanks for all the ideas

My husband started vaping and never smoked again. I have had more struggles. Who knows why? The first few days of vaping exclusively, I did have cravings for cigarettes that tons of vaping simply could not make go away. I actually vaped a bit too much and made myself sick.

I think if you really want to give up analogs you have to approach vaping, at least for a few weeks, as simply a super-pleasant way of quitting. As others have said, there will be a bit of sacrifice. So toss the lighters and the smokes and clean and hide the ashtrays. Take a shower and put on smoke-free clothes. Pick a day when you're either super busy OR you can stay home all day. It's been really snowy here lately and that really helped - it's a real drag to get out of the house and smoke.

I found that having some nicotine gum around helped the first few days, for just a quit hit of nicotine when the vaping was frustrating me. Get other things that help people quit smoking - flavorful juices, spicy snacks, gum. For some of us, the first couple of days, vaping can't simply do it all. But it does help so much.

I'd also recommend a selection of flavors - strong mints, coffee, whatever. When I have a craving, it sometimes helps to just pop on a new flavor.

You can do it.

Plugs into wall means you are using a passthrough which is close to a 5 volt PV. If that is what you like (like so many of us) then I would suggest you get a good 5 volt PV. One of the better ones is the GLV2 (the 5 volt version): Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

The battery on a 510, from what I understand, starts out strong but gets a bit weaker as you use it, until it needs recharging. The battery on an eGo maintains a more consistent strength until the light flashes. I can tell that my eGo battery is about to die, but I find it to be more consistent than my 901 kit was. I was able to quit with the 901 but the eGo made me a lot happier.

I started out with mostly 18mg juice, but found the 24mg was more satisfying. Now I'm using mostly 18, but since I tend to chain vape at night I bought some 12mg juice, too.

It takes time to find YOUR combination. Cutting your smoking to less than half is a wonderful step already. Congratulations!

First off, congrats on your progress!

It's possible that vaping isn't enough for you. I have a friend who highly recommended that I order some swedish snus along with my PV. I didn't listen, and so far I'm doing fine. However, he still swears by it. Maybe someone more knowledgeable about the subject can chime in? In any event, check out the smokeless tobacco forum here: Smokeless tobacco

Again, congrats!

Sample different flavors. Go for strong flavors to start with. Your taste buds don't function well anymore, but they'll recover once you've put the analogs down for good, then you can try and appreciate the more subtle flavors available. I smoked black & mild cigars exclusively for the last few years, but found out that I vastly preferred the taste of a couple of different flavors I lucked into trying. I quit cigars for several days, got frustrated with my PV and went back to cigars intermittently, missed my PV and kept at it, found the perfect device for me, and haven't wanted another cigar since. It's only been 6 days since my last cigar, but I have one on my dresser still and haven't had the slightest urge to smoke it.

Research. Experiment. Allow yourself to not do this perfectly. Keep at it.
