Can you tell us a little more?

How long, how much do you smoke?

What type of pv do you currently have? What strength e-liquid?

BTW, I tried patches/pills/gum and they did nothing for me.

(So sorry to all that replied, I must have not checked the notification option when I posted and wasn't notified of any replies)

1. I smoke 2 packs a day of menthol 100's. Since the cigarette prices sky rocketed a couple of years ago I am smoking Clippers which technically is a cigar but they are the size of and taste like cigarettes.

2. I am currently mixing 24mg nicotine and 12mg nicotine

3. Liquid is tobacco-menthol flavored which I really like

4. My e-cig kit is a Joytech ego-c only with clearomizers instead of what they normally come with and 1000 mah batteries:

eGo-C w/ CE5 eGo Clearomizer Starter Kit

thank you,
betty

try VOT Variable Volt eGo Passthrough and vape 36mg. I was a heavy smoker and after I switched to a VV device I had to take it down to 18mg.

with the device I posted you can vary your voltage and get a "better" vape than with just a standard ego. you still have to go through the trouble of quitting and I know it's hard. all of us here have done it. I quit in 09 and 20012 i started up but only 1 or two a day for a couple of months than quit again. just didn't like it.

Try reading this. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-liquid-discussion/230570-wta-e-liquid-issues.html You're issues may be that you're dependent on other things in cigarettes other than just nicotine. Many people are and don't even know it. Tobacco contains many alkaloids that are addictive. Then there are the chemicals tobacco companies add to make them more addictive or to addict you faster. Also there are things like MAOI's and anti-depressants. Remember cigarettes contain 4,000+ substances and nicotine is only one of them.

Why did you mention the antidepressants? Do they make it harder to quit? Just wondering as I do take an anti-depressant daily, along with about another seven or eight medications.

I do know that smoking and my anxiety levels go hand in hand. The more stressful, anxious, etc. I am the more I smoke.

One issue I know I have with vaping is that the units don't resemble cigarettes so in my mind they are not replacing cigarettes and is just something else that I do in addition to smoking analogs. I can sit and vape for five or ten minutes, put the unit down then light up a cigarette. As I said before, I feel like vaping feels more like an additional thing I do, not a replacement.

Does that make any sense?

thank you,

I did use the patch while vaping for the first 10 days after I quit smoking, however my blood pressure went up more than I knew was good for me so I dumped the patches. I really can't recommended that way of quitting, but it did give me a kick start to get me over the first cravings, so it is possible. I smoked for 66 years, and needed all the help I could get. It worked for me, but again I can't recommend it.

Herm, first, stop beating yourself up!!!

Second, you've made plans and they aren't working. So lets try something not as structured.

SUGGEST you keep your PV with you and put your analogs in another room. Make yourself have to WORK to get them. Trust me for a WHILE you will get up and hunt them down, but keep at it. Keep the PV handy though. That's what I did. Eventually the LAZINESS factor took over and I started SKIPPING an analog here and there, then more and more. I have no CLUE when I quit smoking (don't care either) I just noticed one day I had six packs of analogs in the freezer with no IDEA when the last time I had one was!!

Not everything works the same for everyone. We will quit as uniquely as we live and are human. You'll find your way. We all did!!

Good luck!

Are clearomizers the only thing you have used?

I started vaping only a couple of months before you joined ECf. It took me 6 months to get rid of cigarettes completely. In that time I tried cartos, clearos and atomizers. I tried manuals and automatic batteries and VV. The combination that made me no longer crave cigarettes was dripping on an automatic battery. So that's all I use now.

I guess my advice would be to try every combination of atomizer and battery that you can afford before you take more drastic measures.

Good luck.

The reason I am mixing the 24mg and 12mg is that the 24mg alone makes me cough so I doubt I could use the 36mg liquid or not.

Also the place where I bought the kit has just started carrying a "dual coil" clearomizer that works on my ego-c. In the description it says it provides "twice the performance". So I have been thinking if it would be worth ordering on the try out:

Dual Coil CE5 eGo Clearomizer - MyFreedomSmokes.com

I am on a fixed disability income and can't afford to buy a whole new unit so am wondering if the new type of clearomizer would help.

opinions?

A cousin of mine recommended Chantix as she went on it and was able to quit. However I am hesitant due to the warnings about adding to depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. I'm already not wrapped too tight and don't need anything to add to it...trying to lol about it

I was on Wellbutrin XR for a long time which is also supposed to make you lose the desire to smoke and it had no affect on me at all. It was given to me for the antidepressant part and not the quit smoking feature. It didn't help me with either issue.

you will need a better device to really make any attachment "work" not saying it won't work, but at least a twist or spinner will be able to bring the voltage up so you can fully benefit from the dual coil carts, or evods or protanks. if you have to work with what you got, how are you buying cigarettes?

Because if you read my earlier reply from today you will see that when the prce of cigarettes went way up a couple of years ago I had to switch to Clippers Menthol which are a 100's cigarette like cigar. They are $10.79 a carton. That is how I afford it.

I do keep my e-cig with me at all times, I just don't think of it as much as I should :(

I just get very discouraged when I tell my husband I need clippers and he sometimes says "already?", feel like a failure :( :(

I read that part but don't know how much clippers cost. so if you don't buy them, save that money to put toward your new device. I think spinners are 17 bucks or so.

and without buying them it makes it that much harder to smoke, you have to bum or smoke some stale cigs left over from somewhere. same principal as keeping them in a different room and have your PV with you all the time.

it's hard to sympathize with someone who can't afford PVs when they are still buying smokes no matter how much they are. sorry.

The eroll feels more like a cigarette. I just ordered two kits myself after picking up an Njoy disposable and a light-bulb going on and researching the eroll here and on youtube.. eroll or emini. I think they will work better for me than my ego c's when stressed and I've been at this for 8 months. I think I miss the whole ritual surrounding smoking and TH more than the nicotine... pick up pack, take out cig, light, put lighter and pack up and holding the cig for 10 minutes, the way its held, feel of the roundness instead of drip tip, etc. I will use the eroll every time I would reach for a cigarette and continue with my ego c in between.

Have you perhaps considered enhancing "no smoke" nicotine options without a patch? For example, I tried nasal snuff alongside vaping as I was cutting down my cigs. I found it very enjoyable and still continue with it. Some have used snus, but some dont prefer It at all. Higher nic juice?

What helped me is that I didnt give myself a set quit date. Instead I told myself I was going to have only 18 cigarettes instead of 20+ for a few days. I actually kept a diary and when I felt like habing cig 19, I'd vape my favorite flavor for 10 puffs, and I tricked myself into thinking that 10 hits off my PV equalled a cigarette. :) After a few months (yes months) I was down to 2 cigs....one in the morning after a vape and coffee (not before coffee as my habit for 30 years) and one at night before dinner (not after, as was my habit). Last month i realized I was skipping out on the morning cig in favor for a tasty vape, then finally cig free.

Maybe try not setting a "date" for quitting might help? Without a date to meet, maybe it would take some "pressure" off and prevent dissapointment? One of the tricks, I think, is not necessarily to bury a habit but to change it around a bit. :)

I have been having the same problem, I am still smoking & trying to cut back on the analogs. I like this idea of a log & not setting a quit date, I think I'm gonna try this. Thanks!

I've seen this happen to to a few friends and customers (I work at a bar) of mine. It is hard to switch from analogs to vaping without being in the right mind set. One of my regulars that comes to my place of work was smoking clipper cigars as well, I think he was up to about 2 packs a day. Then he had a serious respiratory problem (still not quite sure what it was) and they found him lying on the floor on the medicine isle in Publix, apparently he was looking for something to help him breathe better….but to make a long story short, I set him up with a Vision 1100 mod and a Vivi Nova tank with a 24 mg strong tobacco flavor (with a throat hit) and he has been analog free for about 4 weeks! In his case, his doctor told him vaping higher quality juice was ok, as long as he quit smoking.

Just remember you have to have the right mind frame and that vaping it is a great substitution!

I came here looking for advice and not sympathy. We can't all wave a proud banner as our signature about our last cigarette which is why I came seeking advice from those who can, not criticism.

I am not going say I will go buy a completely new unit if I am currently not in a position to do so. I chose to write why I can't buy one right now which warrants no discussion or criticism, I didn't expect to be judged as a result of it.

I am open to listen to any ideas or thoughts from others, I just can't be bothered with the rest.
