Of course it's an individual thing, but after a couple of months I rarely had any cravings for cigarettes, and even then they were mild and brief. I think that is because I didn't try to quit on the first day. I smoked whenever I "really" wNted one. After a couple of months, they tasted so awful I just didn't want to smoke any more.

Now, on the other end of the spectrum, I have a friend who occasionally Joneses for a smoke after having quit for 13 years! She did it cold-turkey.

I am another who quit cold turkey a couple of years ago only to go back to smoking because of the cravings in times of stress. I "quit" on several occasions for years at a time only to start back. I got my first e-device today, an e-pipe, to try to quit again. When I quit this time, and I will, and the cravings creep back to me in the coming years, and I am sure they will, I plan on turning to e-pipes and e-cigars to knock that craving back down.

On the other hand, I know others who have quit and claim to never want one again.
But for me, I know the cravings tend to linger, so I turn to the e-pipe to squash them back down again rather than burning old fermented leaves again.

I understand completely, and you are the best judge of what will work best for you. In my case I knew from long, bitter experience that the quickest way for me to fail would be to "try to quit". So I just didn't try. Easiest thing I've ever done :)

Also, I just noticed you're in Anderson! I lived there for a few years when I was a kid, many (many!) years ago. We lived on Brown St., a few houses from the dead-end, where the woods started. Those woods were the best "toy" a kid could ever have! I'm sure it's a lot different now! :)

Don't worry about it.
Read around, there's LOTS of posts on this subject,
and as many different ways of dealing as there are different people.
Some people smoke AND vape, some supplement w/ snus,
but many pick up the e-cig and never look back.

I think that the main thing is
don't let your brain get you worked up.
It's probably trying to tell you that you're missing something,
but you're not,

you're gaining your life.

Some folks don't seem to get enough nicotine when they first start out,
so read how to vape properly (LOL, really!),
and make sure your juice (or cart) is strong enough.
Me, i mix my own juice and forget to mark the bottles
and i've discovered i can't tell the difference
between 30mg juice and 5mg juice...
i doubt i even need nic at all anymore,
i'm just not ready to test that theory.

Hang in there, and read, and post!

Good luck, good faith,
- joe

EDIT: Whoops! Almost forgot to say...

If the cravings are bad (and you also feel a bit 'off') it might NOT be the nicotine youa re craving but the MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) from cigarettes/tobacco.
MAOI can 'medicate' an unknown depression (or predisposition to a depressive nature) and when you take it away - people get depressed, feel down, feel no matter how much nicotine they take in they aren't satisfying the cravings. This isn't everyone, but it IS out there and people genuinely suffer. Its why many Drs prescribe soemthing like xanax or anti-depression pill to 'recently quit' smokers. You can get the MAOI from things like smokeless tobacco; swedish snus (the safest kind of snus, no spitting or chewing involved btw) snuff etc. which have less side effects than many pills. Details about these things are in the Smokeless Tobacco section of the forum.
If that doesn't sound like you, then you will just need to 'wait things out' and see how it goes. Some people NEVER lose the craving completely, others finds it fades over time.

I just bought the ejoy e-cig the other day and I still have the cravings to smoke a real one. I was wondering if these will go away or will I always have them. Really enjoy using it other than that. Please help. Thanks

i have been vaping (and off real cigs) for 6months. I only get cravings for a real cig after drinking! - :toast: - but even that is getting easier.

I'm in day two of vaping. So, maybe I won't be the best example. I still get the cravings, caved twice but mostly I just vape a few puffs when the cravings hit. It seems to work. I really need to replicate the whole experience though, I usually step outside and read, i havent done that. It would probably help to give me the full experience.

If you look at the poll
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/polls/80124-how-long-did-take-you-stop-smoking.html
less than half claim they quit the first day w/ PV. How many voted early & had a cig. later. To cut down works for many that smoked a lot.
For those that are trying to quit fast, once you have made a day-3 you should probably hang in there rather than start over.

I didn't try either. I got the PV to try it & shortly after firing it up was thinking a guy could quit smoking w/ this.

This is exactly how it is for me. If my wife and I have a arguement especially in the first month or two I drive right to the gas station.... This is only my second day of e-cig smoking and mind you with a crappy heath-e cigarette kit. (They taste HORRIBLE) but its just because its cheap. I only smoke 3 cigarettes a day now in addition to a cart every 2. I have noticed little to no effort in slowing down... I can only imagine when I order my Joye 510 that I will be able to convert strictly to digital. I have a hard time because the preloaded carts taste NASTY with this brand.

The preloaded carts in my pipe are also quite nasty. I have been puffing on it for a day and a half now and now I can taste them a little. (pipe smoking really messed my taste buds up) When I first started, they tasted like I was smoking castor oil, now they taste a bit like cigarettes which to me is a nasty taste since I primarily smoked burley pipe tobacco sometimes cut with a bit of cavendish.

I have some French Pipe and RY4 ordered and it should be here in the next day or two. I also ordered a mini-pipe along with some Cappuccino and some Jasmine.

Back onto the topic of the thread, I am allowing myself one bowl a day, but the cravings are so mild that I probably won't even pack one tonight, but if I do, I won't beat myself up over it. The cravings are normal, if they were not, quitting would be easy even without e-cigs.

Well, I ran out of juice last night and was puffing on an old bowl when it hit me. The old burning leaves were so nasty that I started craving my e-pipe while puffing on the old junk! I think that is a good sign! I guess I just needed a reminder of how harsh the old stuff is in order to point my cravings in a better direction.
I got my juices out to the mailbox a couple of hours ago and am happily puffing away on the 601 again!
