The buzz screw is flat-head, not phillips.. so no worries about stripping it.
Oh, ye of little faith. I can strip the head on a flat-head screw. I just stripped the hexagonal indent for an Allen Wrench on something.

But, if the same thing worked for everyone, there would be only one PV model and one flavor of liquid.

Not here.
I have a variable voltage Little Sister on the way, but I really want both a Saber Touch 5v and a 3.7 mini. :hubba:

They're now available without the threading showing on the main part of the unit and with nickel plated end caps. The guy who makes them will also do a custom paint job at no cost if you send him the right kind of paint.

I got my buzz today. I've discovered that right about 4 volts is perfect for me and the few juices I've tried it with so far. I can see that my Saber Touch is going to be an expensive paperweight.

The BUZZ is a great PV. I have never used a ST so i cant compare to that. I do have several other PV's that have however quickly become paperweights.

Finding the right vape for all the juices on one PV is great.

I know I want a variable now. Then I can pick my volts/flavor adjustment. I just do not know if I am sold on the Buzz. Its ugly, and I am not pleased with the button, I watched video reviews. I don't know if the mod for me exists yet. Sigh.

As for LR attys, upping the VG.... thanks for the ideas but no thanks. My Ego isn't terrible. I am just looking for a better PV. :)

I have had the Buzz since June and I love it. Finding the sweet spot with any atomizer or juice combination is serious vaping pleasure. When I first got it I used a volt meter and went nuts, but now adjusting the voltage is second nature. The unit has a dual colored led that gives you a general idea of voltage level - same brightness of blue and red is a good starting point. Taste test, tweak enjoy. A new combo takes less time than blowing out an atty. And if I find an exceptional combination, I hook up the meter at the end of the day and take note.

Someday we will look back and laugh at the fixed voltage era.

This is more rhetorical than anything...but what makes a PV?

For example, I have a Joye eGo. Anyone who asks is told that I bought an eGo.

However, when I think about it, I've bought blank cartridges from TV and used the PTB mod to improve wicking. Then I bought a few Bauway LR attys from Madvapes to improve my vapor production. Because LR attys use batts a bit faster, I bought a few of the 950mah batteries from TV to extend their life.

What I have sitting in front of me has the original cone. Can I still tell people that I love the eGo I bought?

It's still basically an eGo, blackwalk. The eGo is just the battery, it doesn't really have anything to do with the atty/cartomizer. Those are 510s. I know I was confused at first by this. The eGo/Riva/Tornado/eVos are all larger batteries for a 510. The 510 is the atomizer/cartomizer.

I get that. Again, this was more rhetorical than anything else.

I started thinking about it when Raechal said she wanted a better PV. With the LR attys and extended life batteries, I now have a completely different vaping experience than what I had 'out of the box.'

Could I say that I have a better PV now or do I still have an eGo?

If the battery makes it an eGo and the attys/carts don't really matter, then how do you define PV? Could we say it's the housing that holds the batteries and activation switch?

Since the eGo is just the battery, then yes, you're still using an eGo. You've upgraded some of the other parts, perhaps, but it's still an eGo.

A pv is any battery atomizer/cartomizer combination that takes nic juice and turns it into a vapor. The battery section alone isn't a pv, it alone doesn't create vapor. Kinda like pie crust alone or filling alone doesn't make a pie. You have to have both crust and filling to make a pie.

And these days most of us are vaping Frankenstein monster PVs -- battery mods, juice boxes, adapters, atomizers or cartomizers, drip tips, blue foam, straws & Fluval...

It's amazing how far this has all come in such a short time. If you can't find what suits your needs, wait a couple of weeks -- someone will invent it.

So the PV has nothing to do with the model of the device? The name is determined by the battery?

Different atty/carto = different PV
Same battery = same model

But many of the mods let you select your own batteries. So is it fair to say that just the battery determines the name? In which case, what is the difference between a ST and a Buzz when both are using RCR123A batteries? The housing and switch for the batteries?

Without getting technical, how can you explain this to someone who might want to start vaping to help them make the best choice for their first PV?

Upinthehills is correct. A PV is your personal vaping device as a whole (Personal Vaporizer). The parts that make up what you are puffing your juice with.

My apologies, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Your comment about not wanting to change attys or juice because you would rather have a better PV started me thinking about the definition of the terms.

So is it fair to say that just the battery determines the name?

No, the name is determined by the manufacturer of that particular model. All I can think of off the top of my head that are called by the name of the battery are the eGo/Riva types. And really, those also have a cone which seperates them from other models as well.

The guy making the Buzz or the SaberTouch or the Precious decides what to name them.

It's kind of like cars. They're all cars, but what makes a Toyota different from a Ford? Different pieces. They're both still cars, though.

The biggest variety in parts is in the battery area. As far as atomizers go there's the KR808, 510, 510 carto, 801, 901, M4X and a few others. Because connectors are available for most of them, you can buy battery mods with the same name which will fit several of them. As a result, it's less confusing if using the connector name means you're using the stock batteries.

510
Mega 510
Ego with cartos
KR808
Chuck with 901s
Buzz with 801s
901 Juicebox
etc.

I really love my glv's, I love the location of the button and the way its held when you vape, not so much like a clarinet that the others feel like to me (thanks vapefest! saw lots of mods!), That being said, I didn't like the TV juices on either of them, thought they were weak. Yeah, I'm curious about other vv types but I am waiting on the glv3 before I buy one. If you want to go small vv, the little sister and big brother seemed pretty good to me. The mini glv is great for most things but is small in my hand (not to be sexist but great for a lady's hand) but durable as hell; not sure about the kens boxmods build. I don't know, there are super fans of all mods and they all get territorial -- I'd look at amajn's, grimmgreen's, smokie's, and allabouthe vapor's video reviews, they seemed to have covered them all -- of yeah, doctor vapor also, they show them in action and point out good and bad points. Just my :2c:!

My all day go-to PV is currently Kaji's Journeyman auto feed box mod. This nice little box mod goes all day on a 18650 battery or does the heavy work at 6V with two CR123's. I use it at 3.7 V with an LR atty. It's so easy....all I have to do is grab the box and go. The bottom auto feed system works very well so there is no need to worry about filling carts....etc...etc...
I put a stainless steel drip tip on mine which seems to work beautifully as a heat sink. The atty rarely gets hot. Kaji has also just put out a revision called the Alli....they are currently sold out but I'm going to get in line for one of those too.
I can't say enough about the ease of use and how nice it is to eliminate the hassle of loading carts or spinning cartos. I never had a single moment of "buyers remorse" with this purchase. It's beautiful and totally functional.
I just spent a week in the hospital (gallbladder surgery) and no one ever knew I was vaping. The Journeyman got me through the entire week on one battery and no need to refill or reload anything. Love this thing!!!
