I don't think it's worth spending the time cleaning them, when I can just buy a box of 5 cartos for $7.95 that are clean, new, and produce better flavor and vapor than those cartos that have been refilled more than 30 times. I'll probably start discarding them (after about 25 to 30 refills) and start rotating 15 brand new cartos about every four weeks.

^^^That's exactly how I feel about it Deb. With the money I would have spent on analogs, it's a drop in the bucket to buy new cartos in comparison.^^^

Thanks, Tracy. I think a lot of people (when new at this) probably transition from experimenting with cleaning cartos using different methods, refilling them for longer periods of time to shorter periods of time, to discarding them much sooner than they did at the beginning. And then there's all the time we're having to spend on mixing juices until finding the right formula for vapor, flavor, and throat hits, and of course, the time and money spent finding the right batteries that last for more hours than those we started out with.

Guess it's all part of the learning curve and gradually figuring out that we want to mess around with all of this less and less, as time goes by. At first, it's fun to spend way too much time on everything, but after two months, I just want the best flavor, vapor, and throat hits, without spending much time getting those things.

Lately, I've been finding that 80pg/20vg and adding about 10% Glycerin is not producing enough vapor -- and I think part of this problem is because it's time to discard a lot of the cartomizers I've been using since mid-October (and some from early October).

That's what I'm doing today, so at this moment, I'm dripping into an atomizer and another debridged atomizer in order to get that vapor that I'm no longer getting from these old cartomizers.

And why am I still throwing the old, dead or really clogged cartomizers into a sandwich bag, instead of the waste basket??? :)

I'm doing the same thing, I have a drawer full of old KR808-D1 cartos that I've tried to clean in various ways, boiling water, flushing, etc. I'd say half of the ones I've cleaned didn't work at all, the other half worked but it was like trying to suck-start a Harley to take a drag, I got a headache just trying to take a drag! My litecig.NET purchase of the Boge cartos should be here in a couple days.

I know what you mean. Today I counted up how many cartos I've gone through in the last two months and it is 80. I have 15 new ones just received last week and am trying to decide whether to throw out all the old ones, including about 30 of the 80 that I'm still using, and start filling the new ones.

It's been one of those days where the flavor is too strong (like dark and smoky), it's hard to draw on any of the cartos I'm rotating, there's not enough vapor (maybe because I reduced the amount of Glycerin that I add to my mixture about a week ago from about 25% to 10%), and I'm not getting good throat hits. I ate a Ciabatta roll with some milk awhile ago, that helped a little, but now I'm back to not being very satisfied with any of the eGos and cartos I'm using. Think I should just go take a nap.

One good thing about carto's is you can have a bunch for different flavors. If you use a strong flavor you almost have to wash the atty to get it off...

I bought little round office type color stickers to put on my cartos. They are about the diameter of the threaded end of a carto so can easily hide them under the cone...

Yea, but I don't try different flavors very often, so I've been using an atomizer when I do that.

I bought some labels recently, too, and have been using them to label when I recharged each battery and for cartos to write anything I want to remember about a particular carto. Also, bought some little magnetic boxes (with plastic windows) that hold 8 cartos ($3.88 from Walmart in the Office Supplies section, sold as desk boxes to hold paper clips, tacks, etc). They are so handy for storing cartos and to throw in a jacket pocket when I go somewhere.

Well thanks to everyone in this thread with my education on cartos. In checking out various sites to find a large variety prefilled flavors as well as litecigusa.net I think I've done a complete 180 on what my first big starter purchase will be. lol Go figure. Litecigusa.net has some pretty damn good prices so used in conjunction with another site, I think I can create a killer starter set for three people.

Why three people? I want my son and his girlfriend to try these out along with me, so I'm giving them as Xmas gifts without any pressure, but I figure if they have enough starter stuff, they're more likely to really give these a try rather than just a passing glance and I'm making it as convenient as possible for them. Also, my research will help reduce their learning curve which, no doubt, would lead to further procrastination on their parts for trying these out. Since they'll be home here with me for Xmas, it will almost create a little adventure for the three of us as we normally all retire to the laundry room for smokes together. :D

So I found this brand new site that someone mentioned in either this thread or another here on cartos. Unfortunately, they're pretty new so I can't find any info about them in suppler reviews. They just launched a few months ago, but their website tells a nice story and they've even instituted their own forum. They look very dedicated. And they offer a fantastic array of filled cartos, but they're a tad pricier than some others and these are all VG. I have no idea whether I'll like VG versus PG versus a PG/VG combo, but I'm going to try everything out. The thing is, they also only sell KR808D-1 batteries so all their starter kits are based around that. From what I've read here, the KR8's hold more juice than 510's...correct? Can anyone tell me how long these things are in relation to a regular cig or a 510?

So this is the site with the great starter kit: Electronic Cigarette by PrimeVapor

That kit will give us both one auto and one manual battery (they live together so they can juggle). They can have the regular carrying case and I'll keep the PCC. And they give you a split on the cartos which is perfect because I'm a menthol smoker and they like Marlboros and Camels. Then I'll buy one of their variety carto packs. Probably the desserts. For a $100 total purchase for three people. I'll use my Visa gift card for this, so no cost to me.

Then over at Litecigusa.net, I found another PCC on sale for only $14.95 which is dirt cheap because most other places charge $25 for a PCC that I'll buy for them. Plus Litcig has other prefilled carto flavors that are PG/VG and are also cheaper than Prime Vapor's, so I'll get a three five packs for $7.95 each (1 Camel type, 1 USA, 1 Chocolate). They also have blanks with soft-tips for the KR8's, I'll get two of those for $6.95. Both Prime Vapor and Litecig use the Kranger KR808D-1's, so there shouldn't be any compatibility issues. Then I'll check out the various sites for juices. But the total spent here will be about $52.

So that's a total of about $150 for three people who each get two batts, 2 filled carto packs, 5 blanks, a PCC/or case and one AC charger up for grabs. Additionally, we'll have another 9 filled cartos to split amongst us and be able to sample about 10 flavors before buying any juices as well as a chance to sample VG versus PG/VG.

What do y'all think? Or is this TMI? lol I think we're gonna have an e-cig party.

E-liquid Web Shop CN 10 Starters sets 510 if your looking for ecig xmas gifts 10 510 kits for $100. 1300mah vgo kits are $34.. I just got my order from them before the weekend me and a friend order 100 carto's a few vgo kits and juice.

Wow, dirt cheap if you buy in bulk, but I prefer a USA supplier with fast shipping and good customer relationships. Big tip off it's Chinese: "Top Quality Products Direct From Manufactory," "...what we have we offer, you can't choice." lol Gotta love that Chinenglish.

I'd run far, far away from that site. They have cheap-quality way-overpriced batteries that won't last long before needing to be recharged.

Don't have any more time to respond, but you can find all of my posts/recommendations by viewing my posts under my profile. I recommended litecigusa.net to you, I'm sure, since it's the best site for parts of all kinds. My friend paid $101 for everything she'll need for a long time (except for the juice which I gave her), including two 900mAh batteries that only need to be charged once each day (one battery per day), two premium 510 atomizers, a stainless steel drip tip, eGo fast charger, wall adapter. and two boxes of Boge 510 blank (don't get prefilled) cartomizers.

I did all the research (in the last two months) and ordered exactly what she needed. She's a happy camper and had to do no research, just hand me $101 to reimburse me for buying her a perfect kit. I posted all of the links to the items I ordered for her about three weeks ago. If you're interested, let me know, and I'll hunt up that thread.

These frustrate me too. Thanks for the video as I have some but haven't used them. My favorite is the slim mega cartomizer for the ego. It last about 4 hours without having to fill it up. I can also leave it in my mouth because it has a tip that doesn't easily fall out. Best 14 bucks I have spent, got it at clouds of vapor along with the refills for it. I just take the filler out soak it up with juice and then stick it back in to the cart. To refill I take it off and use a paper clip and drip into it from the bottom and then put the cart back into it.

I do plan to order from LiteCig, as I said, but you can't get two auto batts, two manual batts, one charger, one PCC and one case, plus nine cartos for $90 there. I'm basically using Prime Vapor to get the starter kit. The batts can't be any less quality because they're made by the same company as LiteCigs...Kanger. It's a lot harder to configure for three people (two of whom live together and can share to some extent than for one person). I thought I entertained every possible solution with LitCig to get there, but thinking about it more, it's possible I could get cheaper if I went for one starter kit, and two manuals plus three PCC's. We wouldn't have the opportunity to try out autos, but it might be worth the buck for now. Could always try it later. I'm gonna work on this some more. lol

I checked this site out- yeah, great great prices, but they have to be re-furbished ones, I'm thinking. It states on the site that some of these have other e-cig company logos on them

Not refurb's, when you buy in bulk and from china prices get cheap, My VGO kit cost me half of what it would cost from a US reseller and the carto's were about 40% of what I would of paid if I ordered them here in the U.S. They are more of a wholesaler then retailer.

Brand names are most likely because they are overruns made to many of them.

Those are not 510's if that makes difference. I would stick with 510s due to the availabilty of parts everywhere.

"The batts can't be any less quality because they're made by the same company as LiteCigs...Kanger."

This comment is false. LiteCigs doesn't make their parts. They buy their parts from Chinese suppliers, like most other e-cig suppliers. I'm sure Kanger makes cheap-quality parts and higher-quality parts, like many companies do.

I'll admit I bought cheap-quality parts when I started vaping. 10 days later, I was using the higher-quality parts, after I learned that I had made a mistake when I bought the cheap-quality starter kits (because I had found this forum in the meantime and learned what I wish I would have known to begin with).

When you come here and ask for advice, you're usually gonna receive advice that tells you to not make the mistake of buying cheap-quality parts. You received that advice more than once.

The best deal out there right now (for beginners and for high-quality e-cig parts) is litecigusa.net: Two 900mAh eGo batteries, two atomizers (unless you already know that you'll soon switch to cartomizers, then you can skip buying the atomizers), two boxes of 510 cartomizers, one or two drip tips, wall adapter, and eGo fast USB charger. These are the best and only parts one needs to get started, other than the liquid, which litecigusa.net has, but their liquid doesn't seem to be very popular among users.
