i have been trying to follow what is going on at the state level here in minnesota.
i new to trying to follow this stuff on the state website,so this is my best guess
as to what is happening.
there are 2 bills.HB 2402 and SF 2027.
as best as i can follow here is what has gone on so far.
the house bill 2402 did not contain any same as smoking so ban it language.
the senate finance committee bill did.
the banning language was removed from the senate bill, but added back on
before it left committee.
meanwhile in the house the the parts from the senate bill concerning the
banning were amended to the house bill.
the house sent there bill to the senate for a second reading.
it was proposed again to remove the parts concerning the banning the same
as smoking.the amendment lost 28 to 35 and was referred back to committee.
there where many references to other bills but i am not adept enough yet
to run all those down.
i am surprised to see the vote is so close.
as always i plan on keeping in contact with my representatives to
express my feelings toward a complete ban.
if i got any of this wrong, please correct me.
its hard trying to keep up with accurate information as playing
hot potato is a time honored political tactic of amending, removing,
re-attaching,and transferring unpopular or controversial parts of bills
until it sticks to something.
that is why we have a new vikings stadium even though over 70%
of the voters are still against it regards,
mike
evidently the house bill did not contain any banning language,
the senate bill did.
it has been referred to committee for reconciliation.
according to a local news source there might not be enough time
this session to iron out the differences.
