I had my ego for about a week, then I got expensive. But hey, I was spending $3,000 a year on cigs. I've spend $500 on various set ups, and I'm getting close. I think the last thing I have decided on is 2 Kanger subtanks and I'm set. This stuff should be paid off in another 2 months........roughly.

Triton tanks, or Kanger T2's in the 510 variety, are solid on most any 3.7 volt device and vape well. They are far better than anything that was available when I started vaping, and still work great for me too, even on a Provari with an Ego adapter. If it works well for you, it just becomes a question of whether you simply want a tasty way to not smoke, or want it to become more of a hobby. There is a much larger percentage of hobbyists here on ECF that there are in the broader vaping community. Different strokes for different folks.
Congratulations for staying off the endless upgrade cycle. I'm here to keep off the smokes and enjoy some good flavors, and that can be had very easily. You may be one of the lucky ones who found their sweet spot early!

I have a spinner, and use it in rotation with my other stuff. Performs just as well as anything else (better than the iStick at low settings, since the iStick can't handle low settings). I like my other stuff better because of the higher range in output and battery life, but, nothing wrong with ego style as far as I can tell.
Is the vapor quality that much better on a crazy mech-mod? Right now I'm down to vaping 0 nic, I started vaping juice at 1.8 after smoking for 20 years. Is it a thicker hotter hit or what?
Currently I am 100% satisfied with my Triton set up. I have not had any batteries or tanks fail unexpectedly, and I get a nice warm cloud. Maybe I did find my sweet spot from the get go. Hmmm....

I've been vaping for a year now... it seems every week a new mod is coming out with more watts, bigger tanks, lcd screens, etc. Then there's these people who take this on a whole new level; cloud chasers. I just recently heard about all this sub-ohming. I mean, I get plenty of warm vapor from my Halo Triton vv that I started with a year ago... I also wanted to SAVE money. So anyone around here still using a "basic" or "intermediate" setup? I have no desire to get into mods/mechmods/sub-ohming at this time... but I wouldn't mind a Provari.
I'm saving on batteries:
We started down the "road to zero" and now are at 6% nic. A sub-ohm on a mech is a great experience, I'm hooked. You tailor the "warm" or "cool" depending on your atty and builds and batteries. My sweet spot is .5ohms, lasts me all day on a single battery.

I still prefer ego size but use simple 18650 or 18350 sized just to have replaceable battery types for the apocalypse. I use an extremely cheap 18xxx device around the house and egos for out and about. After 2+ years, I do not own anything that is VV.

You should get yourself a simple rda for ten bucks and wrap your own coil with 30 or 32 gauge kanthal, and try it out on your ego batteries.

Yes. Flavor. Vapor. Smoothness. No comparison. It's like comparing a Kia to a Ferrari.
Much thicker. Warm, not hot. Dual coils, 8 wraps each using 24g kanthal wire, reads about .45 ohms. Nice and warm. Perfect for me. Everyone's different though.
Cool. That's all that matters. That you've found your vape. I was never satisfied with my spinner/tank vapes. Always left me wanting, searching for my vape (and so friggin' harsh doing mouth to lung hits all day on a tank.. I thought I'd have to give up vaping because of it). I knew my vape was out there somewhere, and then I finally found it when I got a mod and RDA and zero'd in on the ohms build that worked best for me.
When I started vaping I thought those mods were crazy too. I know now though that it was only a matter of time before I was vaping on a mod/RDA.

Started with the Plain ordinary Joyetech 510T XL just over a month ago. Got a 2nd one for flavor rotation. Working outdoors makes this setup perfect pocket size for me. After 43 years of smoking I have not had any cravings since I got my 510 T. Not into rebuilding or MORE POWER or cloud chasing so YES I still use my Ego setup. I did buy myself a Nautilis mini with the Aspire CF VV 1000mAh as a gift to me for Christmas.
I started out with Egos but got tired of stripped threads and low battery life. I finally decided to invest in a couple of Provari's. After I learned rebuilding I bought me 5 Ehpro Kayfuns.
Now by budget is hardly nothing. I DIY my juice and the cotton and wire I have will last me years. I am down to 2 mg nic but a 1.4 ohm coil on a Kayfun tastes just like 12 mg...to me anyway.
I also need to slow down on storing my nic. I looked in the freezer and figured that I had 4 years worth! I just can't pass up a sale though! LOL

I'm still using egos, I like that they are small and convenient to carry. I simply don't have enough money to keep upgrading.
I am starting to get frustrated with the 650s though. They may be pocket-friendly, but they just seem to wear out so quickly. As they crap out I am starting to replace them with larger VV batteries. My newest one is the Clover 2600mah VV, though I haven't had enough to find out how long it will last - but I'm happy so far.
But I do still want smaller ones that are easy to keep in my pocket and not draw too much attention in public. I guess for this I just have to accept that cheaper batteries have a limited lifespan and need to be replaced frequently.

While I don't like to recommend the iStick anymore (because of the output issues on lower settings), you may really want to look into one. It is far more pocketable than a larger ego style and has much longer life than any common ego style at 2200mah.
The Clovers do look great! I'm curious to hear how it holds up for you. That's a BIG battery for an ego
I use a ego style (PIKE e Vapor $20) and am happy with it I do plan on upgrading to the Vision Wooden Spinner which is a ego style battery and it will cost me around $65 but wouldn't go any higher I vape as a more healthier habit than smoking its nice not waking up hacking because I've smoked 28+ years

My MVP2 is my most expensive piece of equipment. And I was using evods up until a couple months ago. I've gone up to glass tanks. But I'm happy where I am and not really interested in anything more fancy.
It's been a long road since my first e-cig, A $10 dollars N-joy noob kit from the gas station. I upgraded to a 510, mostly because the cost of the N-Joy cartridges were too high. Then came the Egos... for battery life... and the tanks...
Now I'm usually vaping on rebuildable attys to avoid the cost of replacing coils. And I need from 20 to 30 watts to drive my favorite 0.9 ohms dual coil setup so I alternate between a D2 DNA 35, and an IPV v2.0
