I bought 2L of 100nic... this will be the hardest to get if big bro squashes everything
VG/PG always available, many other uses for it to be banned
wire, no problem... always available
cotton/rayon no problem... always available
batteries, no problem... way too many applications for the same batteries we use to be outlawed
as far as tank type atties... as long as you have a rebuildable type your ok ( types with replaceable coil/wick assemblies may go away) have at least 2 dripper atties..
mods, regulated ( I would buy at least 1 more that you like) mech, at least 1 ( I have 3 so no worry here)

I read somewhere that nicotine will degrade slower in PG base than in VG.

I bought nicotine in 100% PG base mostly because I like higher VG so I usually only need to add a small amount of PG.
Our resident chemist @Kurt says that the thicker viscosity of VG slows molecular movement and restricts oxidation, by not allowing the oxygen molecules dissolved in the solution to interact as frequently with the nicotine molecules. But whether you get VG or PG as your nic base, the most important thing is to keep it sealed, cold, and dark. If you keep it in an airtight container, then once what little oxygen is in there already all reacts with the nicotine, the process is going to slow down to a stop since there will be no new oxygen entering the system. And keeping it cold and dark will just slow down that process even more.

I was trying to remember where I read that about PG vs VG.

It was on Nude Nicotine's site.

This is what it says:

Few last points to cover – shelf-life varies largely by nicotine strength, as well as PG/VG ratio. Higher nicotine strengths will possess more nicotine molecules, less likely to be completely solvated by their carrier (PG/VG). Put simply – 100mg/mL formulations will keep for less time than a 24mg/mL formulation. PG is also a much better solvent for this purpose – it has an extremely low viscosity, will dissipate dispersed oxygen bubbles quickly (say that 4 times fast!), and has a longer shelf-life chemically (2 years from DOM, vs. VG – 1 year). Thus some may only see a short shelf-life for a 100mg/mL solution kept on a shelf compared to a 24mg/mL solution kept in multiple frozen aliquots. Remember, nicotine solution solvated in wither PG or VG WILL NOT FREEZE!

VG is used as a preservative.

Suspended in 100% VG it will still be good 14-22 months later without refrigeration. In tge freezer at least 5-10 years.

According to Kurt ( very well known and respected professor of chemistry here) nicotine should last forever in the freezer. See his post about storing it here.

Long Term Nic Storage

"I have every reason to believe VG-nic will last essentially forever unchanged in the freezer and in glass. If 6.75 years shows no change, I don't see at all why it shouldn't last for decades."

So I mostly vape pg based should I get vg nic or pg nic?

Kurt says VG will last longer but, he only uses VG nic. I do not have any kind of chemistry background but, I only use PG nic. I have had PG based nic in my freezer for close to 6 years now. It has not changed at all. I do not like dealing with VG nic and I have stocked up on PG nic. I feel confident doing so.

My oldest stored nico is 5y1mo. Dead clear. Half liter 48mg/ml.
I heard that you should handle the nico very gently when removed from freezer. Any truth??..

I always put mine in a pyrex baking dish until it reaches room temp. I have had no problems at all.

When I mix unflavored, I take out an eight or ten ml bottle of nic, warm it in my armpit, and use the whole thing in mixing the batch. If I am a bit short, I take out another of the bottles, warm it up, use what I need, and return it to the freezer for the next batch. The last time, I left a partial out, but it changed color in the month it was waiting. Won't do it that way the next time.

Awesome! I didn't know if that was true or not so I'm glad someone could clear that up for me!

It is true. A peeishable substance in glycerin will be good for 14-22 months at room Temperature.

Put that in a freezer and it will be good 6+ years.

Before I became more educated on nic storage I had bought my first liter of 100MG/ML nic. I opened it and put it in the refrigerator. I've had it for 9 months now and it is half gone. It is MFS nic, I never repackaged it into glass. I open and close it about once every two months to refill my bottle at the mixing station. No special precautions. It is the same color and quality ( in my experience) as it was the first day. I'm not saying that all the advice is wrong or unnecessary, I just feel that nic is not as fragile as we can be led to believe.

With that being said, the remainder of my nic stash has been packaged and stored "properly" now.
