i dont generally have a problem with USPS...BUT when you pay for services, then they should be delivered..it you pay for it to get there in say 3-5 days, then it should be no later than the 5th day..not 7-10 days later with no explanation... OR mailmen who mark as they tried to deliver when in fact they didnt OR lost pkgs OR Or or lol

Or priority mail with delivery confirmation....but they don't say which neighbor they delivered it to.

We live on a dirt road, they deliver mail when they want to. If it's rainy (or snowy) they don't deliver, period. We've never had mail 6 days in a week in 27 years we've been here. I live at 846 Pe.......... Road, they deliver my mail to 846 Pa........ Road. That's about 3 miles from me. We exchange mail very often. But, yeah, the postal service is just great. I'm glad the other family don't have any vapers or they'd get a bunch of free stuff!!

Well I must be in the minority here. This was when all the companies used UPS and Fedex for all packages. It was great the tracking was 100% and in that two year period I never had a package not get tracked, lost, sent in the wrong direction, or damaged.

yes,,you really are in the minority there !!

i use to ship frozen fish 6months out if the year for 5 years, out of Alaska, both Fed-ex and Ups...
at least once every two weeks they would mess up and re-route or leave a package behind,,
the screw up was never in Alaska,,we have an excellent delivery system here !!
mind you these packages are always next day delivery and screw up means thawed smelly fish
now i have to file a claim,,did you know neither one insure food ?? ha ha that's when i tell them to look
up the contract and read the details,,it was written into our contract specifically because of what i shipping
so if you ship with those guys and don't have a contract?? if there is a problem,,they will refund your shipping costs after a bunch of debating and in time your item insurance might get processed ??
i have yet to make a lost claim with USPS !!!!

You have to figure with hundreds of thousands of packages and letters being sent every day they are pretty good with getting things sent to the right places at the right time. If human error didn't creep into every facet of life we wouldn't need homeowners/renters insurance or car insuarance.

Their we based tracking system does suck though :(

All in all it's the best way to send a package or letter. Even if we had stuff like a transporter from Star Trek we'd still get damaged, mislabeled, and screwed up stuff due to human error..... not to mention atomically altered ala transporter accident :)

So far the USPS has only delivered two of my packages to the neighbors. Fortunately, they were nice enough to bring them to me. They thought it was some kind of medication. LOL, I told them it was. Maybe the syringe made them think that.

This has been my issue on two of the last 3 deliveries I've had....fortunate I have decent neighbors. I've put off on ordering a mod for this very reason, at least until I can talk to the vendor and try to make an alternative arrangement.....that's a pretty sad testament IMO.

I've only had minor problems, mostly mail going to a neighbor or coming a few days later. The office is another story, they just cannot get the mail there during office hours, which is making a lot of businesses irate.

I do know that the problems started long before 2006. My father worked there after he came home from the navy until he retired, another friend retired from their (both forced into early retirement) and another friend works there. Dad's retirement pay got cut drastically in the late '90's with some lame excuse. He was originally told he could take early retirement and it would end up being better for him, same for retired friend.

Before that, many years before, the break down began with the machines. The machines that sort mail. When all of that started, the intended purpose was fewer employees, fewer wages paid, benefits paid, etc... and faster service. Those machines cost a whole heck of a lot of money, and at first, were full of problems.

Now they have fewer employees, and fewer each few weeks. They have added so much to any workers route that they cannot deliver it all in one day. They also keep changing their routes, am not certain why that is. Benefits have been cut a great deal, overtime is greatly frowned upon. These people are not machines and cannot do it all within any specified time frame. Hence the backed up mail, some in this area over a month old (being bulk mail a.k.a. junk mail) and employees that just do not feel like giving 120% anymore. Meaning just choosing not deliver it, which happens more than anyone wants to know, and, choosing not to work themselves into the ground when they cannot possibly get it all done.

I used to deliver milk to the door(remember glass bottles and those old white Divco milk trucks) and if a customer was not home I always left it with the neighbors. At least that way they got their milk that day. Seems everyone here feels their neighbors are cool about deliveries, and thats wonderfull there is still comunity spirit in a world where most don't know their neighbors names. So if your mail ends up at your friends house, posibly look at it like you got the package at least that day.I remember when the phone was hooked to the wall, buying water was a joke, and a man in a white captains hat delivered your milk, so I may be out of touch.

I've only had a couple of issues with usps, most of my problems with usps is for anything that comes out of NY or NJ takes about a week longer to get to Ga.even if I order priority than anywhere else I order from, but still cheaper than ups or fedex. So crying about it NO but fustrated from time to time about it YES but all in all still saves me money going usps so I will continue using usps!!!

i almost always have an issue with them, i order live feeders for my reptiles, they always end up dead because the hold at post office sticker is never honored. had a mail carrier that was too lazy to get out of his truck and walk my package to the door to have me sign for it, so he left me a sorry we missed you note. im looking at almost 7 days for a package to get from vegas to texas. i had a package to completely missing from FSUSA. checked the tracking on that the other day, it was delivered in new york.... im in texas. had 2 orders from CCV go AWOL. the branch that handles the mail for my area is full of incompetent people. usps has let me down more times than i can count. but i agree they are the cheapest. but the system seems to be a little inefficienct

you know,,if some of these people that complained about USPS would call the vendor and have them send the thier stuff
ups or fed-ex that would solve all their problem:laugh::laugh:

then there would not be a need for any threads like this eh ??

but then again, there would be whining threads about cost and delivery times:mail:

just can't win for losing i guess ;)
