glad to hear it worked out okay. Both of the carriers on my route are really nice and helpful. Sometimes there's a substitute one that screws things up, though (putting wrong mail in wrong boxes, etc) There was a day a couple of weeks ago when it was past time for the mail to arrive and box was empty. Sister (lives just down the road) had gotten her mail, so figured that for the first time in a very long time, didnt have any mail. The next morning (hours before the carrier is in neighborhood) there was the mail in the box. It had apparently been delivered to wrong house and whoever it was in neighborhood that got it was kind enough to put it in the proper mailbox.

I cannot understand why they cant do a better job on tracking of stuff - scanning it as it goes through each postal hub, etc.

While you make a good point, I am personally willing to accept the the job they do. As I said before I sell on ebay(not full time mind you) and I use USPS quite a bit. Their benefits outweigh the bad. Please keep in mind, Im not saying the other carriers are bad.

1. They do not charge extra for sat delivery(I hope they do not cut the delivery days down, they already changed the hours at post offices here, but only slightly)
2. They have to get gov. approval to increase rates. This avoided(Im almost pos. this did not go up) the gas surcharge UPS and Fedex did. There was an article written awhile ago about how it shouldnt cost an extra $1.xx to send a UPS envelope during hiked gas prices.
3. Tracking is really only for a pieace of mind unless it gets lost. In which case I dont see how tracking will really help if it never came. I do love watching tracking for my package, but its just for my own comfort. Does not make it come faster.

Sorry for getting a little off topic

Well, the Lawrence post office called me this morning. Anyone care to hear what happened? >_<

Totally Wicked put the wrong apartment number on the outside of my package and sent it to "C12" which essentially doesn't exist, so it was just sitting in a parcel box outside. I know this was not an error on my end, as it says my correct address on the receipt that they sent along. *sigh*

I'm just glad, for reasons like this, that I live in a small enough town where people are glad to help each other out like this and that our post man was kind enough to check the other boxes for me otherwise I probably would never have gotten it.

Thanks for all the support guys, I appreciate you giving me the hopeful words :) And now I just have to wait for my batteries to charge!!

Whew thats good glad it made it to ya :)

You're right. Packages should always be insured. In my case (an eBay purchase), it's actually the seller's responsibility to insure the package. Even though I could have come back on the seller, I didn't because I was 100% certain it was USPS's fault. Otherwise, I would have forced the seller to take care of it. Many people don't realize it, but with something like eBay, even if the seller charges extra for insurance and you don't take it, it's still his/her responsibility.
