My Ex-wife was a non-smoker and used to always climb my frame about smoking. The only thing it did was annoy and anger me. It has to be her decision to quit smoking. Whether its a transition to vaping, cold turkey, whatever.

Chances are she is well aware of e-cigs. If shes interested, she will try it out on her own. One thing about addiction, it is way more powerful then those with no chemical addiction can understand. Live and let live brother.

Still have yet to find a flavor that tastes like a real cig. But luckily you can find something that tastes better and that's what will make the transition easier. If she likes smoking menthols tho its quite easy to find a decent substitute.

What you can do is try to track down some juices with flavors she likes. Be it a chocolate, coffee, caramel etc. Also, increasing the budget is another option. vaping can become a very addictive hobby once you get into the rare and expensive mods. By replacing your cig budget with shiny mods you still end up with better health and you can't really put a price on that.

I think the mistake many beginners make is buying a cheap alternative to try it out and not liking it because of it. Someone said "buy your last mod first" and I think it's very true if you're really committed to quit smoking.

Good luck :)

My husband, glided me into the scene of vaping. I smoked one pack of Marboro Reds a day and continued for one year while he vaped. I tried his one day using a VaporWall Nemesis x Kayfun and was blown away with the flavor. If you do not want to spend that much I would buy her an eGo or something similar, but from my personal experience it does not compare to the 22mm and 23 mm mods.

It's VERY hard to find a 'tastes like an analog' flavor, there are some that are close but nothing's going to be spot on, believe me I've tried. The best way to approach a situation like this is get something that is NOT a $5-$10 disposable, or if it is a disposable get something good, not a Blu from your local gas station. Is there a particular dessert she likes, a favorite food dish, favorite drink? That's what I'd look at for a starter flavor, give her something she's going to like the taste of for it's own merits, not something she'll constantly compare to 'not being an analog'.

As far as kit goes, a lot of people keep pushing eGos which are fine, affordable, etc, but to me they're too large to be a good starter for someone used to analogs. This is my personal opinion and a lot of people will disagree with me I'm sure, but I'd recommend a KR808 cigalike to start her, something reputable with replacement cartos in a variety of flavors. Perhaps look at V2 or White Cloud if you want a big-name..they seem to get a lot of crap around here cause people like eGos/VVs/VWs/etc but I personally got off analogs using a kit from Premium, which is nearly identical to the V2/White Cloud offerings. Only reason I don't recommend Premium is because they're a bit expensive for what you get.

I had the same issue with my wife. She couldn't ever find a flavor she liked and kept returning to analogs. Finally she found the flavor and she is doing much better.

I tried to quit smoking using "cig-alikes" (corner store, looks like a cigarette type) and failed miserably for a few months, I spent upwards of 300 dollars buying more cig-alikes online like SafeCigs, GreenSmokes, ePuffers.. Canada Customes seized my last attempt at ordering a cig-alike starter kit because it contained nicotine which we're not allowed to import into Canada.

Finally I gave up on the stick battery cig-alike idea and did more research online. I finally learned about and ordered a couple eGo-C Twist batteries and some cartomizer tanks and some e-Juice from a Canadian supplier (no more customs seizures!) and I was finally able to stop smoking cigarettes.

I guess the moral of the story is while yes, we smokers will want a cig-alike e-cigarette at first because we want it to still feel and look the same as smoking. Don't waste your money! I wasted so much money on total disappointing unsatisfying crap before I found eGo batteries and accessories. Once I had those I've never had a craving for a stinky old cigarette again and now I've been a happy ex-smoker for about 3 months.

I switched from regular cigarettes by using Eon-smoke. I started with Eon-smoke because of the size and weight was just like a regular cigarette. The starter kit is around $14 -$25 and it is about as close as you can get to the real thing. http://www.eonsmoke.com Now I have since moved on from there because they just don't have what I need but everything is a stepping stone.

I agree with all of those who have explained that she has to want to do it. But if she's really interested, the next thing to do is to take her shopping at the B&M. If the pleasure of shopping is as encoded in her DNA as it is in my wife and daughters, that experience alone may be the best first step.

Yes, $100 is what I am willing to put into this initially. After that its just maintenance - I doubt its going to be as expensive as cigarettes.

And we have a small "smoke shop" here in town (I live in Kyle, between San Antonio and Austin) so perhaps I will drop in and talk to him. See if he carries enough of this type of stuff that I could bring her in for a "fitting" =)

Thanks for the advice everyone. =)

Hey Mike! I am in Kyle as well. I tried that Kyle shop and was not impressed. If we are talking about the same one, it was more of a head shop than a vape store. They had one unit and something like four flavors of liquid. I found a much better shop in San Marcos that is a pure vape shop. Get in touch with me and I'll let you know where it's at or maybe we'll do a road trip or something.

My address is archermay at that free google mail service known as gmail.

This may be a strange request, but I am trying to stop my wife from smoking cigarettes by showing her that she can get the same thing from an electronic cigarette - without the smell or the health risks. I have bought her a couple of cheap e-cigarettes in the past but she did not like either of them and they were both "lost".

She says she enjoys smoking, and generally only does it away from the house and the kids (work, driving, etc) but the smell is a clear give away to us all that even if we don't see it she is a smoker. I am really hoping I can find something that tastes and feels like a cigarette to her and still gives her a reason to go outside and smoke at work with her friends. I heard a news story about e-cigarettes the other day that said they are only about as dangerous as coffee - quite an improvement over regular cigarettes. =)

At this point I am willing to spend up to $100 on my gamble, but obviously if I can get out for less than that I would be pleased. My concern is that if I don't buy her a good replacement it will end up "lost" like the 2 $5-10 ones I bought her in the past. I am willing to spend the money but I want it to be spent on something with a decent chance of working.

So, is there anything that a majority of folks can agree would be a good cigarette replacement for someone that smokes approximately 3 packs of marlboro lights per week and enjoys the act, feeling, and taste of smoking?

Thanks for any help. =)

I would suggest an Ego 650 battery with an Evod BCC (Bottom Coil Changeable) clearomizer with a 1.8 ohm coil & some Totally Wicked Red Label Tobacco 18mg strength. This whole set-up should run you in the neighborhood of about $30.
