No bad smell at all. Hubbie said that the watermelon smelled like cotton candy. I was vaping one in the bedroom last night and left go get something and when I came back I noticed that it smelled sort of sweet in the room. I have heard that some scents can smell sort of funky like BO or feet but I have not found that with any of my flavors yet.

First, for me, vaping is not a replacement for smoking. It is a replacement mechanism to deliver nicotine. When I started, I missed the throat hit and feeling of a cigarette. Then I realized, that was all that I missed. I had no nicotine cravings or withdrawals. Really? I was amazed. I used it to cut down, not quit smoking. At the end of the first week I finished all my cigarettes and have not purchased another pack since.

Secondly, it is certainly pleasant smelling. There is NO smoke! You just can't understand the difference until you experience it. My mom who lives with us, requests certain eliquids so she can smell the vanilla or the coconut or whatever. I am always more than happy to oblige even if I only add a little bit to the flavor I am already vaping.

Thirdly, it is so much more that a substitute for smoking! It is a whole new world of taste experience. As my taste buds reawaken, I am amazed at how great my liquids taste. I use a lot of tobacco based liquids but often add other flavored eliquids, either fruity or vanilla/chocolate/coffee flavors. The bad thing is that my "concoctions" are much like my baked beans. They taste great but I have no idea what I really put in them. This is fun. Smoking was something I really liked. Vaping is something I just love. Oh yeah, it may just replace caloric snacks. I crave licorice or chocolate sometimes. My absinthe liquid satisfies the licorice craving. Still looking for a great, semi sweet chocolate!

As I typed this, I realized that DIY is probably in my future. Oh well. Could be worse. Could be a cigarette!:vapor:

I didn't read thru this entire post so not sure what was suggested.

If you have patience like a couple weeks this is a nice cheap setup and all you will need is liquid. The setup isn't too large to scare her away from it and the batteries will last allot longer than the cigalike batteries.

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1292301

I would recommend ry4 as a starting liquid in 12mg nicotine, dekang makes a good cheap ry4. Its just a very good starting flavor, you will have to buy it somewhere besides where I linked you the starter kit since it is the one flavor that is sold out there.

As for getting her to use the kit without pushing it on her and scaring her off it just tell her to try it to help her cut back on smoking. Allot of people try that and end up quitting smoking by accident. That is just a starter kit and if she gets into it she will want a better setup, but the size of it should work since the better ones are kinda big and scare most new vapers into the smaller setups. After a short while most upgrade but need to use the smaller setup to realize the bigger ones are worth using.

Anyways good luck with your challenge hope it works out.

Is it completely without smell? I know it is less smelly than cigarettes, but smoking them in the house isn't stinky or bad?

If she really can smoke these in the house that might be a really big sales point for her...

I vape fruits, unflavored and menthol. nobody seems to be able to smell them. but some flavors do smell, and they might smell to you and not to me. A friend was vaping a brownie flavor and her kids said it stank :)

The secret to successfully making the switch from cigs to vaping is that the user has to WANT to make the switch.

The MOST important piece of gear for making the change is NOT what's in your hands--it's what's between your ears.

You can have the most flavorful juice, the most advanced PV, the easiest-to-use and best-performing atty on the planet, but if you don't WANT to give up cigs, it won't work.

And on the other hand, you can have some funky Chinese juice in a 901 "3-piece" stick battery setup, and if you WANT it to work, you won't touch another cig after the first couple days. (that's what I did!)

So the first thing your wife needs to do isn't get some super-high-tech vaping gear or amazing juice. The FIRST thing she needs to do is decide that smoking is bad for her and those around her, and that vaping is a way to get the flavor and nicotine she enjoys from smoking.

Free your mind, and the rest will follow...

Couldn't have said it better!

I haven't read all the replies, so excuse me if this has already been said...if she doesn't want to stop smoking, then she never will. :) That being said, switching over to Ecigs is not easy...she has to want to give up the smokes..really want it. My husband and I started Ecigs together almost 4 months ago...and it was NOT easy. We still went through every withdraw a person goes through trying to quit cold turkey...but the Ecig helped a lot with other habits a smoker has..like the hand to mouth habit and what not. Yes, you're still getting the Nicotine...but after going through all the withdraws we did, I'm convinced that people are addicted to more in a Cig than just the Nic!!

So, IMO, if she doesn't really want to give up the smokes, nothing you can buy her will make her. It took nearly a week for us to finally stop wanting a real cig REALLY bad. Good luck!!

I think the smoke in the house thing is the way to go. Get her one, "just to use in the house", no pressure about switching over completely. If she doesn't want to vape around the kids, she can pop off to the bedroom for a break. I have never had a lingering smell. I use mostly fruit flavors, and they smell good briefly and them the smell goes away.

I was in the same situation. My wife wouldn’t quit smoking, and the smell was driving me crazy. She refused to try ecigs even though she knew how well they worked for me, so I made one last "bold" effort to make her switch to ecigs. Knowing a cheap ecig would not do the job for her, I went out and picked up a nice VV mod for her (Volcano Lavatube V2), but I also made sure it was something I wanted too in case things didn’t work out the way I planned. Anyway, one morning before I left for work I set up the Lavatube and placed it on the kitchen counter all ready to go. I knew she understood how it worked because she's been watching me use the same thing for months. I then took every analog in the house, and put them in my car. I also cleared all the ash trays and tossed all the lighters. We only had one car at the time, so there was no way for her to go out and buy cigarettes while I was at work. Well later that morning, I got the call from hell... guess who? At that point I was at work and couldn’t do anything about it anyway, so I told her just use the Lavatube and I'll be home later. When I got home that evening, I was expecting to meet the devil and collect my “NEW” Lavatube that I really wanted anyway, but that was not the case. I walk in the door to find her vaping on the Lavatube, and she told me "yeah this thing works". She has not had another cigarette since. She going on three months now without a single analog, and I'm going on three months of watching her use the Lava tube I wanted from the start.

A few guys at my work have bought their wives decent kit with the same intention to get them off the cigs. However they all have the same problem...the wives don't want to try them, the guys do, but the wives don't. IMHO unless she's ready she won't even try it.

On the other hand I have a mate who's only smokes when having a drink. A couple of months ago he was at our house and we were all having some drinks. He was about to go outside for a smoke (even tho our house was always "smoker friendly", and we didn't actually say he couldn't smoke) so we handed him one of our devices, numerous times throughout the evening actually. He was very surprised by the end of the night that he hadn't opened his packet of cigs and didn't feel a compulsion to either. To cut a long story short last week he asked me to get him a half decent budget kit for occasional use. The moral here is to try and get your wife to vape something for like 6 hours and discover that it actually works, then SHE might be interested in taking the subject further and finding a flavor and kit that suits her.

My wife has a very good friend that refused to quit smoking. Our plan was every time she visited was to have a PV ready for her. I had about 30 different flavors that she could try out.
When given the choice of smoking outdoors away from the conversation and/ or entertainment she slowly began choosing vaping over smoking. Rain/ Cold/ High Humidex days were the real kickers :D One day she asked if she could purchase the PV she had been using for the last few months. We happily gave it to her.
She's now smoke free but realize it was a very long journey with many baby steps. Key in this journey was an alternative without peer pressure and much patience.
Best of Luck.

They do smell, that is it smells like whatever flavor you're vaping at the time. I was vaping a strawberry flavored juice in the car one day and my daughter said "I smell strawberries". My wife just pointed at me...

In this case I'd say get her to a brick & mortar that let's you sample liquids. Key is getting her away from the notion that it must taste exactly like a 'moke. Most of us found out through trial and error that we don't actually like the taste of a 'moke

If she finds something she likes flavor wise then I'd proceed to find a good kit. Unfortunately due to overhead most B&M prices are very high, but you'll find plenty of vendors here that you can find good prices.

If she resists even trying then best to put it off and let her come to it, it's a habit that's harder to shake than anything else, good luck ! ;)

Let me put it this way. My roommate is very sensitive to smoke. He would never come into my room or let me leave my door open because I smoked in there. Also If I smoked NEAR the car, like putting one out when I got in ( I never smoked in it ) he would complain that the car smelled of smoke. Now not only do I vape and drive with no complaints from him, I can Vape anywhere in the house.

My all day puffer is RY4 and I can Vape at work. People tell me it smells like everything from caramel to strawberries to spun sugar.
