Ok, i just got my 510 yesterday. I havn't smoked in 12 hours.

But i'm not sure how i need to store the whole thing between vaping. Can i just lay it down on its side, or should i stand it up on the cart? Does it really matter? i'm just affraid the liquid will pool in the cart and flood the atty if its on its side.

As for the atty, at night should i just blow it out and leave it at that, or does taht even matter as well? Maybe i'm just overthinking and babying it too much. LOL.

Thanks for the help.

Hi there - congratulations on your 510!

I'm pretty new to this myself, but I've got my own nightly rituals and there are plenty floating around the forum, also. It's commonly recommended to blow your atty out at night. Some people also like to rinse them out nightly in very hot water, then blow them out, insert the tip of a paper towel (don't twist) and let it dry like that overnight. Then do a regular cleaning using one of the many different methods others have suggested, something like once a week.

I haven't had a problem with laying the PV on its side between vapes. I do stand my Riva up, since it has a flat bottom, but I lay the 510 and the KR8 down. I use mostly cartomizers, although I do have a few attys and carts. For the cartos, I blow them out and fill them up at night and store them standing battery-attach-side down, to let the liquid sink into the filling, and then top off in the morning when I leave for work. I haven't (yet!) had a problem with flooding using this method, and it's quick for grabbing in the morning. I detach the attys from the carts at night, blow out the attys and rinse the carts and pull the filler out to dry overnight, then fill carts in the morning. I'm sure there are many other more efficient ways to do this, but this is what I've been doing so far (about 6 weeks in).

I have seriously considered trying to find a test tube holder-type thing that would be the right size to hold cartos upright overnight, but during the day I wouldn't worry about laying attys/carts or cartos on their sides.

It's okay to overthink it at first, because there are so many brand new devices and parts and junk to deal with when smoking is so (relatively) convenient, but don't get overwhelmed. You'll work out your methods in no time.

i always leave my Chuck standing up. i drip so sometimes there's a bunch of fluid in it and other times it's dry. i haven't had any problems yet. if liquid has pooled in it (where the atty attaches to the battery) i just wipe it up. the Chuck is a battery mod so it's a bit different.

when i was using a standard 510 i'd leave it on it's side. you can't really stand them up so that was the one option.

if you're worried about it, just pull the cart off when you're done vaping for the night.

I read on a thread that someone bought cigars encapsulated in plastic tubes for that very reason. He said the tubes were perfect. Food for thought :)

Edit: Actually now that I think about it the tubes were to be used for storing the devise itself - not just cartos/attys. ...But prolly will work even so.

I stand mine up when I'm vaping to let the liquid gravitate down into the web mesh on the atty. At night, I just lay it on its side to prevent flooding. The next morning, it's fine.

I have never blown out the atty unless I need to clear a flood. Occasionally I run hot water through it, blow it out, do a dry burn while watching the coil (in a dark corner). Once I see a red glow, I drop 2 drops on the coil and reinsert a full cart. A few puffs later I have good vapor.

Nice idea... I think there are also some smaller spice racks that use little jars that might work well. Thanks for the info!

I found a use for my ashtrays :)

eCigs are a little diff in the fact that you have 1 maybe 2 setup to use. You miss place it and you panic (well i do) Where the hell did i put that.

Ashtrays gave me a place to put it down that felt familiar, so 1 it helped me vape less than having it my hand all the time. 2. it gave me "checkpoints" within my home, car and office of where I would have set my e-cig down.

As for the up or down thing. Here is something for you to try. Take your cart, empty it (or take an empty they send with attys) fill it with water, don't put a cap or filler in, next SHAKE IT. The water wont come out :) It's not pure water in e-liquid so I think your pretty safe in standing it up, I tend to "stand it" when I'm sitting in a conferrence room and forgot my case, my case is large enough I use it as a portable ashtray so to speak.
