After 3 years I am down to 2 mg nic. I just like that certain "bite" that it gives to the flavor of the juice. I don't think its enough to keep me hooked though. When Im at work or out and about I have no desire to vape. Mainly its when Im at home and bored.
I remember when I first started vaping I had to have that throat hit. Now I can't stand but the slightest hint of one. I vaped some 6 mg I found the other day and it hit me like a freight train! LOL

I'd like to get rid of the monkey. Probably the number one reason I wanted to quit tobacco after twenty-five years with health as a close second. I hated the need. With that said, I had no expectation to quit smoking when I started vaping and no expectation to quit nicotine after fully getting off the smokes. It took me about four weeks to make the switch from smoking to vaping.

After a little over a year vaping, I'm down to 1.5mg and starting to mix in a squonk bottle of zero now and again. My ADD has skyrocketed a bit. That's more annoying to others than it is to me. But, it can be bothersome at times.

As I lower my nic, I feel like a rat in a Skinner-box. I hit that button more and more anticipating my reward. At 1.5mg, if I hit it real hard a couple of times I still get my fix. But, most of the time now, vaping just satisfies the behavioral need. My hope is, after being at zero nic for a while, I will retrain my brain to not expect the chemical reward with the vaping behavior. Then, the need and the want to vape should diminish.

I started vaping 5 years ago at 36mg. I quit smoking instantly after a 33 year pack and a half/day habit. Weaned myself down to 0mg over 18 months or so. Kept it there for a couple of years. During this span of time I was off nic I started to have a very gradual decline in my physical well being.I was foggy in my thinking, found it difficult to concentrate, and simply had no energy to do much of anything. I went to the Dr. for an unrelated issue and found out that my thyroid had stopped working. I was really glad to get that diagnosis because that explained why I felt that way and I was looking forward to feeling better with the thyroid meds. Nope. Even after the thyroid was straightened out I still felt pretty bad.Chalked it up to getting older and kept on with my 0mg routine. I never missed the nic nor craved the nic during this time but I always wanted to vape and was going through mass quantities of e-liquid.

A friend of mine gave me a bottle of 6mg liquid she had picked up accidentally(she vaped 24mg) and since I really wanted to try the flavor I vaped it. It was absolutely unreal the difference in how I felt after just a day of vaping the 6mg.I had so much more energy and I felt so much more alert that I put nicotine back in my life from that point on. And my daily liquid consumption decreased quite a bit to boot.

So, is that a fail? I don't see it that way. I can easily go without nic for very long periods of time and not crave it, but I don't like feeling like a "lesser" version of me off of it. Since nicotine really isn't an issue in the absence of smoke, since studies are showing that nicotine may confer some protection against alzheimers, and since my Mother has recently been diagnosed with alzheimers ,I'm going to keep the nicotine in my vape.

0 nic? Yeah...in my dreams. I can't even get it together right now. My heart congratulations to those who have quit just like that.
Hang in there Roto. I know it has been a bumpy road for you and although I've not said it before, I am pulling for you.

hum well I started at 12 ( smoked cigs ) then went to 18 didn't smoke cigs dropped to 12 and 3 the dripper. No cigs at all for me from March 1 of this year - don't miss them at all. I highly doubt I will go to zero, but then I was as astonished as anybody to quit smoking 30 to 40 cigs a day for 40 years - who would have ever believed it - nobody who has ever known me. So I have to say idk

I started @ 24, smoked my last smoke as I was setting up my first little nic-stic. Went down to 18 after a couple of months. Stayed there until my body told me it was time to lower it. Went down to 15 (was easy since by then I was making my own juice) I now have anywhere between 3.5 and 13. My DIY Almond Joy is best @ 3.5. I mix all my other flavors from 10 to 13. I have no intention to go any lower but I will listen to my body and if it tells me I need to, I will lower it. I didn't start vaping to quit. I started vaping to take the place of smoking.

I think there is more good than bad with nicotine consumption so don't plan on giving it up. I may be proven wrong but I don't think that will happen. There is a lot of junk science out there that has the bottom line goal of demonizing nicotine. You have to consider the source and who is paying for the junk science and then make up your own mind as to the truthfulness or lack of truthfulness in what they are saying.

I quit a 2 PAD habit the day I picked up my first vape. Started at 18mg, stepped down to 12, 6, and then 3. Right now I have some 3 and 0 mixed up and can't tell the difference between them. Plan to cut out the nic totally from now on. Wife is unknowingly at 0 as well and hasn't mentioned a difference.

No, it's certainly not a fail and I can relate to your experience.

I'd been vaping 18mg for about 16 months then the shop from which I sometimes buy eliquid had a flavour I really, really liked, but only at 6mg or 12mg. So, I bought a few bottles of the 12mg and for about a month while using it I also suffered from that foggy-thinking feeling with not much energy for anything. When I ran out of the 12mg I mixed up some liquid using an 18mg nic base and by the end of that day it was like a switch had been flicked in my head and I felt completely back to normal. I'm just thrilled that vaping enabled me to quit smoking and I'm quite happy to stick at 18mg.

To the person who couldn't understand why someone would vape 0 mg nicotine, vaping serves many purposes besides nicotine replacement. It can mimic the hand-to-mouth behavior of smoking, which is just as much a psychological habit as the physical addiction to nicotine. It also mimics the inhaling/exhaling behavior of smoking.

I feel the physical behavior attributes to the addiction, even if one doesn't realize it. Sometimes holding a mechanical with my atomizer of choice while driving is all I need and I can take less draws then when I started. If I'm at work I usually always hold a pen to mimic the same thing.

I actually made an attempt. Recently. From 12 to 0 as I already knew 6 mg just didn't have the same TH and flavour.

So, I bought a few 0 mg juices. And I bought a bottle of BiteXtra Enhancer.

Well, BiteXtra does make up a little for the difference in flavour (and TH, of course, although it's a different TH that, yeah, you get used to after a while) but not enough. There's something missing and it's not exactly the nicotine as an alkaloid - it is the precise balance of flavour and TH I enjoy (taking into accout what I use to vape, of course; I know it would be very different if I sub-ohmed but I'm what they call a tootle puffer).

So, I'm back to 12 now. When you say 12, you can say 10, 11, there really isn't a difference. I'm back for the flavour and the mild-ish TH I get from that.

Maybe when and if the TPD comes in full strength I'll vape 0 mg and BiteXtra - unless someone very mean decides to ban that too.

Why would I vape 0 mg? Because I enjoy it and I believe it's not dangerous and health consuming (stress is and I get that everyday with everyday life as if the way we live were the most natural and positive thing ever). If you only vape as a means of getting a nic fix, then I can understand you wouldn't vape 0 mg.

Zero nic? I went the opposite way and kept raising my nic little by little. At 40 mg, my heart rate increased and I lost weight. I was 50mg my hands were shaking. At 75mg, I got an entire days work done in 2 hours but everything appeared red - like heat vision. For the two weeks I was at 100mg I'd black out and wake up naked far from home covered in blood and fur. There were reports of animals being killed by something at the zoo so I went back down to 75mg because I like going to the zoo. The Capuchins make me laugh.
Yet another laugh and roll from Haunted Myst. I hope he writes professionally.
Little did I know then, I can’t feel any nic below 3mg. Stayed off the nic for several months and then got curious what a little nic would be like. Tried 1mg and it did zip. Same with 2mg. Mixed 3mg and hallelujah! I felt normal for the first time since I’d dropped to zero. I was calmer and less anxious, though hadn’t noticed it while I was at the zero mark. Husband said he had. ;)
Yet another happy 3 nikk'er. So many of us!!

You're an animal, Haunted! Please stay away from my dog. :)

i started on 12mg and am working my way from 6 to 3 , at some point i hope to be on zero because nicotine aint great
The only thing wrong with nicotine is how its been demonized and how BT has manipulated it. It is not a carcinogen. Guess what, everybody has nicotine in their system, it's in your food. Nicotine is beneficial for Parkinson’s, Alzheimer's, Tourette's, ADD, ulcerative colitis,Crohn's and so on. Nicotine, by itself, is not the big, bad boogieman it's been made out to be.

I started vaping 2 1/2 years ago mostly 12mg, after a couple months realized why I couldn't sleep at night and went to 6mg and vaped 0 at night, then did just 0mg for a few months and just didn't vape on and of for a while. Did that till about 6 months ago when I bought a subtank and RDA, and been vaping exclusively 3mg since and still vape 0mg from the RDA when I'm about to sleep. Don't really need the nicotine anymore but it makes the juice taste better to have some. I don't really even care that much anymore for the way nic makes me feel, it makes me jittery, but it's fun so whatever, I like vaping as a hobby now.

Instead of reducing my nicotine strength, I am reducing my vaping frequency.
I'm not trying to though, it's just happening.

I've pretty much reached the point where I usually don't even have my first vape until after work.
But I still vape pretty much the same as I always have the for rest of the evening.

There was a two day period awhile back where I didn't vape at all.
Just didn't feel like it.
